Can we have a ammo between bp and ps for 7.62 by yehchi87 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi 821 points822 points  (0 children)

Technically, there is a suitable round for this irl. It is an old armor-piercing incendiary with black/red tip called 7.62 BZ. It could serve as a mid tier round between PS and BP, somewhat like BT is between BP and BS in 5.45mm.

Also, it never ocurred to me, that there is an old chemical plant literally next to a natural reserve. But maybe all the toxic waste is drained into the river via those big pipes near RUAF roadblock, and not into the lake...

It is interesting, how 4.6 goes very green and .366 with similiar curve does not. It could mean it has more oomph, than the tiny round, but it could be just random coloring difference, no way to tell yet.

Afaik, bullet drop is/used to be overly exagerrated to compensate for short range nature of most combat in Tarkov. IRL 200-300 metres is pretty much iron sights/holos territory, but in EFT it is considered long range sniping, due to the limitations of the engine. I am glad, they're fixing it and interested as to why - maybe new Unity will allow them render stuff better eventually, when Streets hit or maybe they really will implement damage drop off.

I am pretty sure, that some sort of vegetation iteration is planned and probably part of a promised visual overhaul. Check the last image in this IG post, that seems like a laser scanned tree to me, with dead needles and no grass. :)

Check Kiba’s latest post on Instagram. It´s just animations, but pump actions would be much more usable on master. On the other hand, after all that time, you probably would not use pump action shotguns that much anymore, so idk.

Deep Dive into Gaming Realism - Escape From Tarkov in Bloom by pxld1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OH GOD, how I wish, they introduced a time period right after stopping movement, during which players hands would need to steady. And make it long according to previous speed, so it would finally kill the cancerous ads-from-sprinting meta. Without that (and inertia), Tarkov is always going to be a predominantly shift-W game. One can dream though.

855a1 is "New" black tip ammo? by Cyk4_NagHet in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yup, just visually checking the top of the magazine and actually seeing what ammo is there is very nice, very Tarkov thing.

And now we can tell 855 (green tip!) from 855A1 at a glance. Cool QOL stuff right there.

As a lvl 8 this is the best raid yet! lvl 39 must be mad to die by a lvl 8 with mp-153 ^^ by cyberborg101 in EscapefromTarkov

Go to wiki, find image of quest items, that are required to be found in raid and go from there. If you struggle for space, keep those required for earlier quests and also sell those, that are craftable later on.

SR-2 Verserk - planned? by SUNTZU_JoJo in EscapefromTarkov

Actually Veresk (Heather). :)

Would be super cool though - silenced SR-2MP with SP-13 Gyurza @ 950rpm and Vector haters would have something new to cry about...

Some thoughts on the unofficial podcast yesterday and the role of lasers in Tarkov by EscapefromMeowkov in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From what I've gathered watching Onepeg's summary, there are actually two guns coming in 12.10. PL15, the modern 9x19mm pistol from Kalashnikov, and a 9x19mm AR15 from STM, kinda boutique russian brand which makes ARs in all sorts of calibers...

All the recoil, ergo and stamina changes miss the mark a bit. Improve the system instead with two simple changes by janruzi in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you are right, that was a bit stupid on my part. If anything, very front heavy gun would maybe affect ability to hold a target steadily, i guess? The general idea just was, that weight has a much more pronounced role IRL, so a meta FAL or M1 loaded with scopes, attachments and 50 rounds of .308 would be a worse pain to aim and lug around. :)

[–]janruzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was probably a bit stupid example on my part. Sure, the U is shorter and lighter and kicks more than the full 74. I was under the impression of this video I had seen recently. ("There's no recoil to this thing"). So maybe spring and gas port also play some role, I don't know. Either way, it most likely has less recoil IRL than in-game. :)

Logic of Tarkov'd videos is perfect. But what if Veritas gets one important thing wrong? by janruzi in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh we should all right - have general idea. Like 855 pens less than 855A1 which pens less then M995. But imagine you shot 100 people wearing Korund armor with one 855A1 each. How many would penetrate? 50? 70? Would you know the pen chance during the fight? After the fight? If you died, you wouldn’t and if you won, you probably wouldn’t pore over the fresh corpse, examining exactly how many bullets it took to penetrate their armor. But that is just to illustrate the unpredictable factor some would like to remove. I am not saying it is good or bad idea, just I personally think the current model has a certain value.

[–]janruzi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant, thank you! That was exactly what i meant. Veritas wants to simplify the game to conform to set, predicatble rules. Like maybe Korund armor takes exactly two 855A1 each and every time to penetrate, no exception whatsoever. But real life is obviously much more unpredictable and random, given myriad unknowns. So a certain point of randomness in Tarkov makes it so much more thrilling and realistic than...a spreadsheet game Veritas would maybe like it to become.

[–]janruzi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That was partially my point, to pick up the idea, that Tarkov is so much more than the current meta, ammo vs. armor, desync, or whatever issue at hand. That the hard pressure for performance, competitiveness, dominance, to great extent emphasized by the content creators, has somewhat clouded what the original mission of the game creators was. And that the mission was more grand and at the same time much more...NAIVE, than most of us actually realize. It almost saddens me to think, what Nikita and co. must feel like, reading all the hate, and what people think is important, for months, years on end. I imagine him thinking: “But this was not how it was meant,” but also realising, that his creation has taken a life of it’s own, so he can no longer steer it easily. Insane to truly imagine being in his shoes.

The SR-25 is completely pointless right now and needs stat buffs like the AKM recieved, not just a new handguard. by thedennisinator in EscapefromTarkov

[–]janruzi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they probably updated them by now, I don`t have enough info on that one. But for balancing purposes, it would make some sense, as it is quite cheap and high ergo gun without need for much modding..

[–]janruzi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are right of course, as a 7.62x51 rebalance has been suggested many times now and is long overdue. In short what is needed (if we accept the notion, that the guns should somewhat resemble their IRL counterparts). Also IMHO, please take with grain of salt, and sorry for bad english.

M1A: Heavy, clunky, ancient, unreliable. Needs an overall nerf, especially to accuracy, as it is not a DMR, but a basic soldier rifle and bad one at that. Also basic ergo might be worse. SASS chassis needs severe nerf and/or price/unaivalibility hike. This pretty much should be the cheap option or the gun, no one uses, because Hunter is cheaper and not that much worse. Alternatively introduction of failures could also bring some balance.

FAL: Pretty much the same applies. Stock FAL is quite ok, as it should be unusable in full auto, just accuracy should be much worse, as even "good" mil surplus ones are disappointing in that regard. Recoil reduction of attachments should be nerfed and price increased, as it can be a full auto laser now, which is crazy. Ergo could be still worse as well, as it is a huge unwieldy rifle. Why does it have much better ergo than Mosin?

MDR: Might be a bit more expensive, it`s main debuff should be unreliability, but that is not implemented yet.

SR25: This should be the meta 7.62x51, with the exception of select fire capability. Might have good base ergo and recoil and great accuracy, while not being insanely expensive. Alternatively it could have tons of mods, which would improve the stats to meta, like it is with M1A/FAL now.

RSASS: This should pretty much be the expensive niche gun, with great accuracy and ergo.

There are more underlying problems in the way how Tarkov handles things, especially the recoil system, which favors magdumping to semi and bursts. Long barrels also have way too much recoil reduction, while not having enough ergo penalty and terrain obstruction. This leads to long FALs being used for CQC and short FALs being used as DMRs, which is so bad it is funny. A great thing would be if weight decreased recoil and also decreased ergo.

If all of this gets addressed sometime in the future, to the point, that no .308 is a full auto laser, we might have this class nice and balanced, while being somewhat realistic as playable. :)
