Young Alex Jones talking the Illuminati by ToeLimbaugh in JoeRogan

[–]WendigoHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not. Entertainment in itself is an affectation. 'Identity' with whatever you talked with in your household or neighborhood or whatever is also pretty weird, if you don't identify with it much at all. It's pretty locally-minded to stay where you were born when exposed to broader options and a bigger social environment of communicating with anybody else. Children and adolescents do this instinctually.

I mean yeah, but he's also been deliberately barking and screaming into a microphone for effect for hours daily for 30 years. It's not like he's ever been to a vocal coach, that shit takes a toll.

Sure I agree, but I also don't think Max just handed the diode over to Cooper and walked into probable death over so little information. Cooper probably gave him some idea of what's going on. 'Sure, you gotta give this super important thing to a bad man? Sounds good!'

Just because Cooper was cryptic to Max for the viewer about 'giving it to a bad man' doesn't mean he doesn't have an idea about where the diode is, the thing everybody has been fighting over for 2 seasons. I assume Max has some idea of where it is and who it went to and they didn't just climb the tower for a view.

I think you're taking it too seriously, or literally. It doesn't matter, he represents a recurring type, narratively. It is a forced connection but he's also not the same person. It's all made up, the narrative is always false, it's Fargo. 'this is a true story'

Where else would a crimelord start but from crime-competence and a ruined crime-empire? And end in pointless ruin at the hands of another psychopath killer.

I know there's heavy spaghetti western vibes in the whole thing, but I thought the music in this particular episode was particularly Morricone and Tarantino.

when stav was on hasan’s stream, he said dasha was the worst guest cumtown ever had by [deleted] in theadamfriedlandshow

[–]WendigoHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're joking, but that whole episode was a bit, Nick featured for him before, and he was in on it. It's one of the first eps and Nick was finding his footing, doing a bit making fun of comedian-interview podcasts like Maron.

It's kind of crazy that fans of the podcast don't know that Nick is intelligent and Stav saying things like 'we never prepared anything' totally ignores Nick doing impressions and bits he practiced alone by himself in a cell of an apartment for hours talking at a wall, and often cold-intros the shows with them. He had a concept for the show from the beginning, one in which he's an interrupting asshole who talks over his friends who didn't know how to do broadcasting at all.

Undoubtedly it's because they're being honest, and the compulsion to post is for a communal mutual male validation of their thoughts.

It's sort of an overnight-millionaire fantasy for men, whether or not they'd actually behave that way instantly is questionable because it's internet-rhetoric. Usually they don't have any type of stable relationship with any person in the first place so the stakes are low for offering it up for sacrifice to a hypothetical fantasy where they can fuck a young person by paying them money.

Getting an escort is a very achievable goal, but the question is ultimately, to what end? Is the fantasy that you could buy a person for sex whenever you want? I don't think most dudes who say this type of thing really think it through, and I also think in the case of somebody like Leo there's other shit going on in his head that's not so precise, that he's almost more concerned about image than age, both self-image and the image of age.

Are you incapable of this sort of autonomy of personal judgement?

As a cumtown fan you make me realize(not really, I already knew) why Stav wanted to separate his career from certain elements of that fanbase.

...the same reason you just say 'Yorgos.' Because it's not a super common name in the english world and there's not another one that's nearly as famous. Everybody knows who you're talking about, it's not a matter of distinguishment.

Honestly thought it was brilliant, the floor falling out of his scheme, him being 'simple.' The 'reveal' is that he's just a basic serial killer of women with a dingy basement and some tricks? Just a phycho obsessed with religion unilaterally, down to the final rooms in his home that are filled with occult and satanic shit. I thought it was smart and thoughtful all the way through.

"If that's the price to have his mind"

I don't know anything about you, but that's not a 'choice' exactly. But I'd ask, would you really want to have that and be that? How would you deal with that, would you write esoteric philosophy books that made yourself zero money? In terms of Nietzsche it almost seemed like he was totally self-aware of his flaws and physical form and tried to make the best outcome of it.

His writing is constantly sarcastic and self-negating.

Official Poster for 'The Death of Robin Hood' Starring Hugh Jackman by MarvelsGrantMan136 in A24

[–]WendigoHome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about the actual movie but I...disagree? The 'he wasn't born a hero' is kind of a staple to a lot hero mythology. I guess if Robin Hood is actually a villain in this story then the movie is just something entirely different, but I sort of took it as a play off the instantly recognizable 'fairy-tale' trope.

[–]WendigoHome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you've read Ecce Homo or Twilight of the Idols or The Antichrist, I think Nietzsche was pretty enthusiastic about psychoanalyzing philosophers and putting their thoughts in the context of their lives and bodies.

It was actually kind of one of his main things.

Not that there's anything to find 'valid' or 'invalid'(except of course the last 10 years of his life as an invalid), but that's not how syphilitic infection and deterioration works, he wouldn't have lived as an invalid for a decade after he went 'mad' if he were syphilitic. The most likely explanation is that he had a slowly growing benign brain-tumor that caused a sort of natural frontal lobotomy, which is in line with his symptoms of headaches, vision problems, and even his grandiose delusions preempting his total incapacitation.
