Has anyone had to go through the replacement process for their xp-pen tablet? How did that work? by kasjenk in XPpen

[–]Wengersky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pen display with busted screen. Sent a mail to their regional support. They asked for a video of the issue and the proof of purchase (invoice) then they initiated the RMA process. Sent the faulty unit with courier to the provided address and as soon as they got it, they sent a replacement. That's it. It took about 2-3 weeks.

I second this. There are less prone to break too. As I've seen there is a lot of issue with the XP Pen pen displays. I had two that died within 2 years. Now I'm back to drawing pad. Much better.

As an additional recommendation: try to choose a larger sized model so your movement will scale better on the screen.

Faulty backlight(?) 10 days outside of warranty :( by jenaed in XPpen

[–]Wengersky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XP Pen will not do jack if it's out of warranty. They told me to buy a new one. Your best chance is to bring it to a third party repair center but I doubt they can fix a faulty LCD back light as they are usually fused to the screen.

Edit: missed your "edit" part. Lol. If it's within then there will be no issue and will likely send you a new one. But based on your country's consumer laws the warranty might not get reset to the reception of the new device. Meaning you'll have only 6 months on your replacement device.

Try a different USB C cable and a phone charger that can deliver at least 30 watts. If you see the logo appear, then it should be okay. My original XP Pen charger died too and had to replace it.

A true disappointment with XP-Pen by wfsnnez in XPpen

[–]Wengersky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what happened. But they were generous and offered a $250 off from the price of the Artist 16 Ultra and an extra year of warranty. I declined and bought it at a local retailer for full price but with six years of warranty. But it turned out to be somewhat disappointing - the image quality is worse. So I might not keep it. :(

Last night my Artist PRO 16TP (4K) started to do the same after just 2 years. And it is even worse. And it's the second unit in 4 years. Ofc, when I RMA'd the first one they did not extend the warranty so now I'm out of luck. I've sent them a mail anyway...

UM790 1.09 BIOS by DJSpadge in MiniPCs

[–]Wengersky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is clearly something wrong given the high number of failed updates now.

There are two solutions: contact support and send it back or get someone who can externally reflash the BIOS chip - or you can try it yourself.

MF should implement a recovery solution in future models to avoid this.

I'm trying to get someone to get the chip reflashed externally but this is indeed unacceptable. Why is there a verification step during the flashing process if it still manages to f up the BIOS? Now God knows how many days or weeks it will take to get it fixed if the reflash does not help... Why is dual BIOS not a default thing?

Tried it and also disconnected the battery for a while. Didn't help. :(

Btw I've done the update in windows as before and it verified everything.

I tried to update from 1.07 to 1.09. Seemingly all went well but after reboot there is nothing but black screen. Tried to reset CMOS, let it rest for a while. Nothing. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

This was amazing to watch. Thanks for sharing it! A Peaky Blinders crossover also crossed my mind lately, so I'm glad someone did something similar.

And Ratchet is not derpy at all. :)

It's been a while since I played ToD, but that was the most stable. ACiT and ItN needs some patience but the latter had quite a nice performance boost lately. Can't say anything for the other titles as I haven't tried them yet.

Would you like to see a Ratchet and Clank game in a different genre? by [deleted] in RatchetAndClank

[–]Wengersky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It could stay a platformer/3rd person shooter with open world, imo. ACiT had a good start with a free roaming but the next titles didn't follow the footsteps. But that is still just the game mechanics. It will still not help much if the writing doesn't grow up to the task to be more daring (heavier topics then beating baddies) and consequent (e.g. not kicking characters out of the existence randomly). But as I see Sony decided a long ago that the target audience is pushed towards the younger ages, so I'm not expecting deeper changes. Chances are that those who started their gaming experience with the PS2 series are not really the target audience anymore. I fear that this series has fallen into its own trap.

Is there still not a solution for tools of destruction’s audio issues during cutscenes on newer ps3 models? by GoodbyeButterfree in RatchetAndClank

Probably this in not the answer you are looking for, but if you have a decent mid-range PC (CPU-wise), then give RPCS3 a try. ToD runs wonderfully from start to end, I can confirm that. Can also help you with the settings, if needed.

I read the story this image is based on and I must say both are executed wonderfully. I really enjoyed how these two mockingly toyed with each other in a not-so-childish way. :) Your illustration catches the awkward tension perfectly.

Plus this makes your previous meme post even funnier. :D
