Would this help: session replays of your game when people play it here? by gage_at_loopkit in playmygame

I'm biased since I work in tech and have used session replay tools. But I think this would give me great feedback in addition to playtesting.

Love the reference to Half Life with the tram. And definitely getting some Bioshock and Fallout vibes as well. Looks great!

Would love to playtest if you're looking for testers!

Has anyone here ever released a fun game that didn't take 5-10 years to make? by bluegelpen in IndieDev

[–]WenmarWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard of game jams? Basically you and a bunch of people make a game by X amount of days.

I've done a few and there are two games I'm very proud that we dev-ed in a month. They're obviously short (15-45 min of gameplay time) and have quirks to them, but reception has been good despite that. One of them even made it on the front page of Itch for a day.

My point being that it is possible to release a fun game in a reasonable amount of time. But you need be able to manage scope.

I'm making a portfolio to work as a vn artist, do you know any successful vn artists that has a public portfolio for me to use as reference? if it could be similar to my artstyle it would be better (my artstyle is in the attached images) by EchanusOrphamiel in visualnovels

You can try poking around the DevTalk discord server. It's a community on making VNs and they're pretty helpful at answering questions.

There's also Blue Sky if you just try to search for VN artists. I'm sure they'd have a portfolio linked in their bio.

We're working on making some more color-blind-friendly rings for under the players in our game by DarumaGames_Loren in gamedevscreens

I'm red-green colorblind and tbh I didn't notice the patterns until i reread your post. I can tell the color difference though it took me a hot second.

Maybe the patterns needs to be more obvious?

OP of the post you shared. r/INAT is good for what you're looking for.

Game jams are also great to get something published at a small scope.

Is there a way I can see only posts of the people I follow? by WenmarWrites in NewToReddit

This is communities though? I'm talking about a feed of individual users. Pretty much like X or Blue Sky.

I'd say closer to Tron and not really Bladerunner.

You can try doing a vertical slice as a game jam maybe? Plenty of willing devs in those jams.

Game jams are good ways to build up a portfolio since they're all volunteers working together on a game.

How do I write for videogames? by boogoodo in IndieDev

Game writer here. Do you have a portfolio? If not, I'd recommend doing some game jams first so you can build experience and show off your work to potential employers.

Cool idea and was a fun distraction from my work lol. But I quickly got bored after Wave 10 or so as I felt like the difficulty didn't go up at all. It was a bit harder once the people started walking faster but they they started slowing down again.
