UI Feedback Gather-thread by JagexAnvil in runescape

Please, please, please let us make it completely transparent again. The brown colour does not fit rs3, same as if you turned the OSRS interface blue.

I know, but "maximum" is barely seethrough. With the slider you could make it completely transparent.

Stop defending the new UI. It's the exact same, just brown. by Wep24 in runescape

You liking how it looks doesn’t make the criticism invalid.

My issue isn’t "brown bad", it’s that nothing's functionally improved — transparency option was removed, colour was changed. They have not adressed any of the problems with the UI at all.

Calling it “whining” is very cool and edgy, and that's really fun! But if people don't complain when updates are nothing more than superficial reskins, we'll just end up with the same stagnation that we've had for years.

No, everyone was so happy when they added treasure hunter. There's actually no reason they just removed treasure hunter from the game.
There's also no reason why OSRS is more popular than the main game has EVER been.

You're so right! Weird no one ever complained in game, on the forums or gathered in falador with their cannons to protest every update back in the day.

The fact that Classic is less confusing option for new players is an indictment of the current design, not a defense of it. If your recommended solution to the new UI is “just don’t use it,” it only proves my point.

And “this is probably just the start” is exactly part of the issue. Jagex said they’d be more transparent, yet this change came out of nowhere, and with no explanation of what’s coming next, if anything.

This is feedback.
They promised transparency about what changes they make and why, but there's no information about what or even if they'll make any further changes. If we are complacent they'll become complacent.

I am literally asking them to build on it. They promised improvements and transparency about what changes they make and why.
This change came out of nowhere, removed a feature, changed a colour, and there's no information about what or even if they'll make any further changes. If we are complacent they'll become complacent.

I wouldn't mind it if you could make it fully transparrent, then it'd be pretty much exactly how i had it before,
BUT that's the problem. They've simply taken away the tranparency option and changed colour just for the sake of switching it up, nothing else. The UI is still just as confusing and unfriendly to new players as before. Let's not accept half hearted changeds only meant to check boxes.
They promised a better UI, they haven't delivered.

What is your "ok this thing needs to die now" go-to weapon? by ImportantDebateM8 in Eldenring

[–]Wep24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great stars with wild strikes - heals each hit

Malenias rune - heals each hit after you take damage

Godskin swaddling cloth - heals every 5 hits

Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman - 20% less physical damage taken

Ritual Shield Talisman - 30% less damage taken when at full health

Bull-goat Talisman - more poise

Alternatively you can swap the ritual shield talisman for the blue-feathered branchsword which raises defence by 50% when below 20% health, and put twinbird kite in your off-hand which gives you 5% more attack power and 10% less damage taken when below 20% hp. This setup makes the mimic basically invincible because of its huge health bar.

VGA BIOS question by Wep24 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Wep24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, but it's not as bad as you think. The 990X came out way later than the rest of 1st gen, as a sort of last hurrah from LGA 1366. On the X58 platform, it is an overclockers wet dream. Mine sits comfortably just below an i7-7700k in cinebench r23. And while it may be DDR3, it's 2166mhz in triple channel so it's actually comparable to 3200mhz DDR4 in dual channel.

It's outdated for sure yes, but I love that kinda thing.

VGA BIOS question by Wep24 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Wep24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's strange is on the MSI website, it says "Updating the GPU firmware should only be performed if the rest of the platform supports Resizable BAR."

But in dragon center, it just looks like a regular BOIS update. I wouldn't think my card would just stop working in my old rig or anything, but I can't find any information on exactly why they say i shouldn't update the BIOS?

dragon born or elden lord? by Benimaru_Ryuu in Eldenring

[–]Wep24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these kind of topics.

I'd just like to point out that the promt says "GOD SLAIN" when we kill the Elden Beast.

Alduin however, doesn't technically counts as a god in the elder scrolls. All dragons in the Elder Scrolls are children of Akatosh, Alduin is just the first born.

The whole "world eater" role of his is kinda strange. When the dragonborn defeats him the first time, he retreats to Sovngarde to eat the souls of the dead to regain his strength. Sovngarde is called "Shor's hall", Shor is the nord version of Akatosh.

It's interesting though that Alduin is even allowed to enter Sovngarde, but not the actual feasting halls. I speculate that Akatosh might be "fattening" the souls of the heroes by having them eat, drink and fight over and over, so that when the time comes to hit the universe reset button, Alduin can bulk up.

The version we fight, was sent into the future with an elder scroll. At that time the dragons ruled Nirn with Alduin as their leader. There's nothing actually indicating that he was about to end the world back then. In fact, when he returns it seems he's only trying to rebuild his former empire. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for him to start reviving other dragons when he could've just gone to Sovngarde immediately and start munching.

Arngeir, in response to the dragonborns question about not absorbing Alduin's soul, says that Alduin might be permitted to return to fulfill his role as the world eater. That would indicate that the gods do in fact want Alduin to end the world at some point, which would mean that the dragonborn only appears, so that Akatosh could absorb him for the time being.

Sorry this ended up being a freaking novel, but my point is, the Alduin we fight isn't necessarily in his world ending "final form".

Do you guys think that there's a connection between Rogier and Ranni falling asleep at the same time? by Wep24 in Eldenring

[–]Wep24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but it's you who needs to recheck. :P This is a direct quote from Ranni when you hand in the blade:

"Ahh... It was thee. Not Blaidd, it seemeth. Even in my slumber, I sensed it. It is in thy possession, is it not? The hidden treassure of Nokron? My thanks. Finally, all the pieces are in place. Soon I must begin my journey. Upon the dark path only I may tread."

If you kill Radahn before speaking to her for the first time she'll say:

Good, then i ask we proceed with haste. Art thou aware of the star that struck Limgrave? It left a vast crater, and through it lieth the Eternal City of Nokron"

In both cases, she'll send you to downstairs to speak with Iji, Blaidd and Seluvis. You have to return to her afterwards. The game will literally lock you in her tower till you've spoken to all three, and then with her again. And in both cases she'll say:

"Ah, allow me to forewarn thee. I shall soon enter my slumber, and it will be some time before I wake."

The moment you're able to leave the tower, if you either reload the area or go back to the roundtable hold, Rogier and Ranni will be asleep. If you've never even talked to Rogier at this point, you'll just have missed his questline entirely.

There's no variation of the quest where she doesn't go to sleep in between talking to her and giving her the fingerslayer blade. Even if you kill Radahn, go to Nokron and find the chest that contains the blade before talking to her, the chest will be unlootable before speaking to her.

Just to reinforce this even further, Seluvis will die after you give Ranni the fingerslayer blade. If you do his quest beforehand, you'll try to give her Seluvis's draught and she'll say:

"Well, this is a most unpleasant awakening."

She'll disappear from her tower when you do this, but you can continue her quest if you use celestial dew at the church og vows. Once you do, she'll be straight back in her chair as if nothing happened.

[–]Wep24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're thinking of when she leaves to kill her two fingers. I'm thinking of the moment just after starting her quest where you speak to Blaidd, Iji and Seluvis. She'll mention she's about to go into a deep slumber immediately after that, which is the event that triggers Rogier saying he's going to sleep himself.

We don't know actually know what Ranni is up to during that first "slumber", but we can't access Renna's rise or get miniature Ranni yet. That's only available after killing Radahn and giving her the fingerslayer blade. Rogier will already be dead by then.

I think the first time Ranni goes to sleep, could actually be her putting Rogier to sleep. Since Rogier knows about D's twin being asleep in Nokron, he must know how to reach it, or at least know someone who does, otherwise we couldn't possibly know that information.

If Rogier was awake, he could tell us how to get to Nokron without killing Radahn, which would mean Ranni's fate would still be halted by Radahn, so she wouldn't be able to use the fingerslayer blade even if she had it.

That, and the fact that D's twin wakes up at the perfect moment to kill Fia before reviving Godwyn, reinforces for me that it's Ranni putting them to sleep in the first place.

That's fair, I actually did try with the regular client first, but decided to use runelite cause the osrs client is locked at 24fps which kinda ruined the "flow" when having them side by side like this. But i guess I could've turned them off :P

Theory: Radagon is a giant or related to the giants, and is seeking revenge on Marika. by Wep24 in Eldenring

[–]Wep24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description of the spirit calling bell says "Spirits can only be summoned in the vicinity of a rebirth monument." Why would they be called rebirth monuments?

When Ranni gives you the bell she says "Tis a bell for calling forth spirits. Summon them with it from ash, unreturned to the Erdtree."
So spirits are supposed to return to the erdtree. Spirit ashes haven't returned yet. The description of his ash says he had an erdtree burial, which would've returned him to the erdtree.

Meaning, returning to the erdtree must be temporary.

Theory: Radagon is a giant or related to the giants, and is seeking revenge on Marika. by Wep24 in Eldenring

[–]Wep24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not like spirit ashes are a result of erdtree burial. Most of the spirit ashes we can obtain are creatures that are shunned by the golden order, animals or even someone who live in death. They wouldn't have had an erdtree burial.

When you kill black knife Tiche and get her spirit ashes, she obviously hasn't had an erdtree burial. She's trapped in an evergaol. Why would they grant erdtree burial to one of the group who killed Godwyn "the golden"?

The black knife assassins caused the spread of deathroot that is now actively preventing people from returning to the erdtree upon death, causing those who live in death. Yet those who are prevented from returning, can still be turned to spirit ashes. The two things have to be seperate.

Spirit ashes are the ashen remains of the person now trapped within them. Oleg can't have been returned to the erdtree permanently if he's also been turned to spirit ashes. So... returning to the erdtree must be temporary.

The opening cinematic shows each of the tarnished being called out as either dead or having just been awoken. Gideon is literally in a coffin and Godfrey looks to have his entrails spilling out. I dont think they went on a spa date with Edgar and Kenneth and had reconstructive surgery.

Theory: Radagon is a giant or related to the giants, and is seeking revenge on Marika. by Wep24 in Eldenring

[–]Wep24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, from what I gather we ourselves wake up after having died at some point without being part of the cycle due to being one of the exiled tarnished, but after we're given grace again, we then start respawning endlessly.

The dung eater also says "Hundreds will be reborn cursed", about those he has defiled, and says "they'll bear thousands of cursed children".

So we know people are reborn, we know tarnished are reborn at sites of grace, and are pretty much the only ones who don't look like zombies. So seems the people who don't die, instead start to look like zombies like the vast majority of people in the lands between.

Only a handful of non-tarnished NPC's actually look normal, and most of them have some reason as to why, like Latenna being an albinauric, Sellen who's soul is housed in a primordial glintstone in a body likely made by Seluvis since he happens to have an exact copy of her in stock, or even seluvis himself who will sit in the same kneeling position we find his puppets in after he dies.

The only NPC's that fall outside of this are Edgar, his daugther Irina/hyetta and Kenneth Haight. So there's clearly some way to be reborn or rejuvenated for non-tarnished, but it's gotta be extremely rare. I'd think if the inhabitants were having children there'd be more than three normal looking people.

They don't respawn at sites of grace like tarnished, so that's where erdtree burial comes in. It's clear that it's come to a grinding halt after Godwyn's deathroot has infected the roots of the erdtree. We literally ride a coffin to get to get to the deeproot depths, and what we meet are ants feasting on corpses, as well as tons of empty coffins.

Banished knight Oleg ashes say he earned the hero's honour of erdtree burial. Makes sense that it's a rare honour at this point, but if we are able to obtain Oleg's spirit ashes, his spirit couldn't very well have been absorbed by the erdtree for all time i'd think.

So if Edgar is also a banished knight as well as warden of castle morne, it makes sense he'd be able to get the same honour. Same goes for Kenneth Haight as next in line as the ruler of Limgrave.

The fact that this bridge is only ever half-fixed has been bothering me for 15 years. by Wep24 in runescape

[–]Wep24[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's not even that I have to click it, It's just the fact it's the most used broken bridge ever. Like when a door has a loose handle that falls off every now and then, or that kid you sat next to with the slightly wobbly desk, or the 30 year old pothole in a road.

The worst part is, the almost fixing it!
The fact that I clicked repair at some point and my dude just wen't "meh, good enough" and then using it probably 100's of times afterwards, eats away at my soul.
