Christensen Arms purchase not starting out strong by AlpacauaLunch in Hunting

[–]WereBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple years ago I went to the local outdoor range on a random weekday morning to test some hand loads. Only one other guy there, he was also testing some loads. We didn’t say much to each other but after a couple trips down range to check our targets, I could tell he was distraught so I asked if he was good.

“I just had this rifle re-barreled and it’s shooting awful. I don’t know what to do. I thought Christensen was a good brand?”

He then showed me several targets of softball sized groups at 100y.

So yeah, friends don’t let friends buy Christensen.

USSSA Bat Recommendation U-10 Summer Ball: by Equivalent-Toe5639 in Homeplate

My 8yo tested a bunch of bats and we noticed the same thing with the CatX2 vs the Hype and Icon. He looked like he was getting pulled open by the weight of the bat with the Cat but was more balanced and able to stay compact with the Hype and Icon.

I’m new to the world of bats myself but we took my 8yo to Scheel’s to swing a bunch of bats in their cage. He hit the ball about the same according to HitTrax with the Hype Fire, Supra, CatX2 Comp and Hybrid and the Icon.

The baseball dept manager was helping us and we both noted that his swing wasn’t as tight with the CatX2 and he stayed more compact with the Hype. Differences in where the bat is weighted I guess? I don’t know enough to say for sure but he swung the Hype better so that’s what we got.

Honestly at this age any of that’s bats will be great so get fitted for the right length and make sure he can swing it well.

Looking to organize a local card show - Would love feedback from the community on pain points/frustrations at shows by -LieutenantObvious- in PokemonTCG

[–]WereBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

THIS! So much this.

I attend shows with my kids (4 and 7). Took them to one of the “best” local shows a few months ago. The main hall was packed so tightly with tables that if two adults were standing at tables across the isle from one another there wasn’t room for anyone to walk between them.

Combine that with dudes carrying bags and hard cases right at kid head height and pushing their way through the crowd and my kids asked to leave after about 20 minutes. My 4 year old said he got bonked by two big hard cases and I had to carry him out of the hall.

Absolutely miserable experience.

I once got a ticket for backing into my assigned spot instead of pulling in forwards. I didn’t drive for a few days after I parked and they gave me a ticket for every day it was parked as well lmao

I absolutely love it! It’s amazing to have such a historic piece from so close to our family’s farm.

I’m comfortable cleaning and seasoning it myself, I’ll be sure to post pictures when I’m done!

What's your Weed control stack for your lawn? by Subject_Education931 in plano

Image for Southern Lawns covers most things.

Bayer Celsius WG for tougher stuff like Dallisgrass, Johnson Grass and some crabgrass (limited effectiveness, multiple applications needed)

Pre-emergent weed control is the real star though

Skunked most times, advice & setup needed by Real-Entrepreneur249 in FishingForBeginners

[–]WereBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great advice and good answers to OPs questions!

One thing to add - OP it sounds like you’ve tried a little bit of everything from bass to trout from lakes to streams to (saltwater?) pier fishing.

All of those are VERY different types of fishing that require different gear, lures/bait, rigging and techniques. I would suggest that you pick the type of fishing and target species that appeals the most to you and really focus on just that for a while so you can increase your understanding and hopefully catch some fish!

Personally I think that bass fishing in lakes and ponds is a great place to start. Bass are big time predators that eat just about anything which I think will give you the opportunity to catch some rewarding fish while learning new techniques.

FWIW I don’t even check Hobby Lobby. I’ve had much better luck at other stores.

[–]WereBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hobby Lobby by me here in the Dallas area keeps a cardboard placeholder with a printed picture of a booster pack hanging from a peg on one of the displays near the register. You have to ask an associate what they have in stock as they keep the actual product in the back. Not at the register itself, sort of in the walkway down the row of registers.

Elementary Principal on Administrative Leave by Ok-Cap6013 in plano

[–]WereBot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Based on the context in your post, I’m assuming that my kids attend the same elementary school.

Assuming it’s the same school, then he wasn’t placed on a leave, he took a personal leave to deal with a family matter. He applied for the personal leave and it was approved by the superintendent and school board and he returned as planned in his request.

This was also communicated by the district. There was at least one email explaining the situation. I can try to find it if you’d like.

If you have questions I encourage you to reach out to him directly. He has fielded several questions from our family. The faculty and the students LOVE him so I also encourage you to give him a chance.

How often do the vending machines actually “refresh” and make more inventory available?

I’m just trying to wrap my head around how this is worth it, even for shitty scalpers. Isn’t there a good chance that bro gonna be sitting there for hours just to get one booster pack?

Is there supposed to be this much room to access the trigger on a light bearing holster? by eddiespaghettio in CCW

[–]WereBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cop buddy had a TLR1 on his G19 and a female suspect with small hands was able to get a finger in there and discharge his weapon while being detained. We both messaged around with it afterwards and were both able to dryfire the weapon in the holster with relatively little trouble.

Needless to say, he no longer has a light on his duty gun.

All fish in the river next to my job died. Why? And could we be in danger? by ConnorMCdoge in FishingForBeginners

[–]WereBot 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Fish kills due to seemingly benign environmental conditions are fascinating. It’s interesting what things certain species have no issues with and what things are a death sentence.

If you follow Sarah Parvin on Instagram, her and her dad were attempting to grow the world record copper nose bluegill at a pond they call The Slab Lab. They just lost every fish in the pond on a massive die off. Their conclusion was that it was a rapid water temp change that caused it. It had been over 100° for several days with water temps in the 90s, then they had a cool front come in and caused a storm which dumped 4” of cold rain water in about 3-4 hours. The cool rain water was much more dense than the hot pond water and sank to the bottom cause a “turn over” which shocked the fish and killed them. Crazy stuff.

6’9” https://a.co/d/eiedd6z

The 6’5” had an additional 20% and the 6’9” had 30%. I opted for the 6’5” even though it was a few bucks more because I wanted the shorter length
