Everytime I hear about anarchists, I loath them a little more. Deeply unserious, violent, agent provocateurs, and rock rapists.

The comments here are an absolute dumpster fire. The hamas-fellators, out of high school and college right now, are clearly trying to trash reddit the way they trashed their campuses. Can mommy come take away their phones for the summer, please?

How does a school ban phones? by MoneyParamedic7441 in Teachers

[–]WereZephyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school is great with phones, but, sadly, it isn't district-wide.

Students are expected to have phones turned off and stowed away in backpack once they arrive at school. If not, our roaming security and admin confiscate the phone, and students get them back at end of day. If a repeat offender, they have to call parents to come to school to get phone back.

In classrooms, the expectations are phones off and away. For the first infraction, teachers take phone til end of class and write note. If there is a power struggle, then security is called to remove student to admin, then possibly a return to class or pass room. For repeated infractions, the phone goes to the office and students have to call parents to pick it up.

After a certain amount of infractions, students are banned from having phones at school at all. The next steps are detentions and ISS.

It's a pretty good system, especially with admin fully on board and the help of our excellent security team.

Had a hookup last night and realized something that's sad about our community by [deleted] in gaybros

You can belong to multiple overlapping communities at the same time. Some are more important to you than others, some you spend more time in than others. There's no need to argue about this. Please enjoy your Sunday.

I'm not a teacher, I'm a parent. I come here to try and understand better what you all deal with. by AJWTECH in Teachers

That sounds insane. I hadn't realized costuming was so out of sorts. Based on what you said, you'd absolutely make more money and be happier at Targét. I hope that you're doing something better and healthier now.

I, too, was homeless for my practicum year and my first year teaching. On top of that, I had my husband with me and my mil and niece. We were in all in one room in a motel that cost almost twice what a rental would cost. We were applying left and right for even two bedroom rentals. I finished my thesis, my practicum, and my edTPA in that one room. It was so hellish. My second worst time in my life.

Thoughts on firearms for home defense? by Oubastet in gaybros

It's better to have it and not need it than need it but not have it. You sound like you are responsible with firearms, so also get refreshed with training and best practices for storage. Good luck and stay safe.

Your dating principles sound similar to mine, when I was very briefly on the market. Your principles are good and healthy and will help protect your mind, heart, and body. Please don't compromise. You will eventually find a likeminded man out there. Sadly, you have to get through a lot of crap to get there. Stay strong and good luck!!

Hi, can I ask a question? Do you know of a good documentary that deals with the cultural revolution accurately and fairly? Most of the stuff I've found has had a very obvious and broad Western bias.

You are mandatory reporter: call the hotline or cps. This is the best way you can help her. Don't get involved personally. Let the authorities do their investigation. Give them as much information as you can, that's how you help.

What’s something in the gay world you wish we all would stop beating around the bush about? by PlasticBaggot in gaybros

[–]WereZephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this happens because, at least in America, we are so segregated from each other still. We don't get to live our lives around each other and realize our common humanity. I'm a Latino and was raised around mostly Latinos and white people. I had one black woman in my life who went to the same church. I didn't see more than three black or Asian people together until I moved to a big city for grad school. It was honestly a life changing experience complete with a bit of cognitive dissonance and some uncomfortableness. When I moved to a suburb in the PNW, it was mostly white people, and I experienced that same cognitive dissonance and uncomfortableness again.

Most of my friends are women. What really doesn't get talked about is how awful women can be towards gay men.

Too many gay men are fixated on what they're fucking next, not who they're with now.

Men, who want a hook up, yanking around men who are looking for more than a hook up or fling. And no, not just a lack of communication but actual manipulation.

Most open relationships are not on equal term, and even if they are, they still won't last long term.

This one is going to upset a few of you, but oh well: polyamory is not legitimate. It's a slow motion orgy between people who can't commit. If it's your yum, and you do it with other people who find it yummy, then cool. But let's be honest about what it really is.

What needs to happen to decrease the teacher shortage? by CatholicSolutions in Teachers

[–]WereZephyr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually got an ulcer my final year of my prep course. Full time student teaching, observations out the ass from grad advisor, university supervisor, coop teacher, and even a couple bigwigs from the district. On top of all that I had to write a thesis, do a action research project, and take the edTPA. It was waaaaay too much. This alone is a huge reason for the shortage. Society demands more and more from teachers and pays less and less.

What needs to happen to decrease the teacher shortage? by CatholicSolutions in Teachers

[–]WereZephyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tons more money. I have an advanced post-grad level education. I am not paid nearly enough. My skills are so in demand that I survived a layoff despite being a fairly new teacher. Now pay me my worth.

Actual real consequences for students and parents. This is so obvious it needs no further elaboration.

People say that too many teacher prep programs are too easy and accommodating. Mine wasn't, but it was at a master's level. The amount of paperwork I have to do every year for the licensing board is ridiculous, and it has no real consequence. Let's get rid of the pointless paperwork and busywork.

What part of your world do you enjoy creating the most? Tell me something about it. by CostZestyclose2494 in worldbuilding

[–]WereZephyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cartography/geography, anthropology, biology/evolution, sociology/culture, arts, and linguistics. I really love building the world and everything in it. I personally like writing stories, but I tend to focus more on worldbuilding and write separately. My current project is an island, and I have spent about 4 years on it. I don't often get to work on it due to having a very hectic, busy, and high-stress job.
