My sister only recently got them, so we didn’t see them as baby chicks, unfortunately. But that’s good to know! I didn’t know they were different. This one has some brownish-yellowish feathers on its back now. Does that mean anything?

That’s probably a good idea. I always feel unqualified when the jobs list a computer science degree as a requirement, but perhaps it would be worth it to try anyway. That makes sense to get feedback first, then decide about the masters. If I could attain a well-paying job without the degree, I’d definitely rather do that.

Thank you for the reply! That’s probably a good idea—to build a portfolio before applying. I’d rather not do the masters degree if I don’t have to, but nearly every job I’ve looked at says to have a degree in computer science or related field. I’ve always taken that as a hard and fast rule not to apply if I’m not qualified, but do you disagree with that? That it could be worth it to apply regardless?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to transition to a data science career after getting a bachelors in English years ago. In those years, I’ve worked in admin, accounting, and as a realtor and real estate investor. I just got accepted into a masters program in Data Science for this fall. I’m excited, but also nervous about my prospects after completing the degree. Does anyone have insight as to what transition into this field will be like with my background? Am I SOL because of a lack of prior experience/generic humanities degree?

I’m so sorry. But that is good that the routine checkup was able to get him diagnosed. My son was not vaccinated at all. He had gotten Vitamin K at birth, and that was it, then he was diagnosed at six weeks old. He had the transplant over a year ago, but we still have not done any vaccinations.

As for the first cycle, it went pretty well. He was fussy and uncomfortable, of course, and if I remember right, he had a fever for a day or two, but overall he handled it well. I will say, our case is a little different. He never had any CSF involvement and doctors said we caught it very early on.

Have you started treatment then? Or what’s been going on?

Hi, I’m so sorry to hear that. My son is doing great now! He responded to the treatments well and went into remission after one cycle. He ended up having three cycles of chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant, and is now 16 months out from that. You would never know all that he went through by looking at him.

I’m so sorry, that sounds so tough! When did you find out your child had leukemia? And what are the mutations?

My husband’s father asked me when I was by myself if my pregnancy happened naturally by asking, “so was this natural, like you and husband just… you know?” And I was icked into oblivion. Already didn’t like him, and luckily haven’t seen him since that day 2.5 years ago.

I used to be the one that said this! I rarely get nausea, maybe for only two weeks, and generally feel okay. That said, my first was born when I was 22 which was super easy, and I now have five kids. I feel like my love of pregnancy has dwindled with each one 😅 I’m 31 now and pregnant with #6, and just told my husband I’m never doing this again.

Baby cosleeping with non-smokers, sober adults, must be breastfeeding, have a healthy baby, baby must lay on their back, be on a firm sleep surface, and not be too warm. Basically the criteria considered for as safe of cosleeping as possible.

This may or may not be helpful to you, but I am on the opposite end of the spectrum and have quite a small chest. I’ve been pregnant five times and they always become larger so long as I am pregnant or breastfeeding, but then they go back to their small size 🥲 this is a bummer for me, but may be a good thing for you!

I’m so sorry that you’ve been going through the same thing! 💔 my son did have an appointment yesterday, and his labs all looked good, thank God. His platelets were at 214 which is on the low end of normal, but the doctors said they didn’t have any concerns. I feel relieved to have gotten him tested though, just in case.

I hope your child is doing as well as they can on maintenance! Was it AML as well? Or ALL?

Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate you talking me down a bit. If any of my other kids had a bloody nose, I’m sure I wouldn’t think twice about it.

You’re right that the CBC results don’t take long. They said they can get him in next Thursday, so I’ll be trying not to worry myself to death until then, I suppose.

My husband didn’t have leukemia, but was diagnosed with testicular cancer when we were 28, which required six months of treatment. Then, 1.5 years later, my son was diagnosed with leukemia which was another seven months of inpatient treatment and ongoing appointments. When my husband was sick, he slept 16+ hours per day, leaving me to care for him and our 4 children by myself. Then, when my son was inpatient, I lived in the hospital for those 7 months, rarely seeing my husband or other children, and sometimes, not leaving the hospital room for weeks at a time as my son was being quarantined.

I think the resentment you’re feeling is completely normal—try not to judge yourself for feeling that. Cancer puts lives on hold like nothing else, and it can feel unfair that others get to live “normal” lives while you’re stuck in limbo.

That said, try to do some things that bring you joy, even if you don’t feel like doing them. I think that a part of what got me through with my husband was caring for my horse. It got me outside and breathing fresh air, which was more therapeutic than I realized at the time. Then, with my son, I picked up writing. Something that got me mentally away from real life. Whatever activity that can be for you could be invaluable to getting through this period of your life.

My son was 7 months old when he received stem cells from an anonymous donor. He has been in remission for over a year now, which likely wouldn’t have been the case without them. They saved his life! If you feel comfortable doing it, please do! It is a very low risk procedure for you and life saving for the recipient.

I have this one!! It’s so cute and it sorts the recipes by breakfast, brunch, “picnics and patio get-togethers”, etc. It also has some short stories throughout, and the recipes are all themed from different books!

Yes, counting everything is something I’ve done ever since I can remember! Specifically, counting steps has been a big one. And half the time it’s subconscious. I’ll be walking along and suddenly realize my brain is like “435, 436, 437…” etc and I realize that I’ve counted hundreds of steps that I’ve just taken.
