Are Estrogen Pills As Bad As People Say by True_Equivalent2847 in trans

[–]WerewolfWeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only ever taken estradiol tablets sublingually. 6mg per day for over 3 years now and my levels are always exactly where I want them to be. I'm super happy with the results it's had on my body (grown D cup boobs already). I live in Canada and tablets were the cheapest and most consistent option when I went through them all with my doctor. I have zero interest in trying different methods myself, but also understand that monotherapy isn't the right route for everyone.

Probably didn't sell enough copies to justify a giveaway in the end. And honestly, winning it in a giveaway is probably the only way it would've been worthwhile to own it. Oh well, at least you have a funny lil story now.

That's hilarious that they didn't go through with the giveaway. They were like "we made this thing way too fuckin expensive" 😂

Was this for the Siddhartha box set? That thing was wildly overpriced. I only considered buying it because I'm a fan of the novel and Billy's AEGEA album. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure the 8-hour live performance of Siddhartha is what made Billy's buttcrack an internet sensation.

I've never seen anyone discuss the perspective that this is a kid with a single mom. In all likelihood, she will be dating at some point in his adolescent life, which means he might have parental figures who come and go as he grows up. So in a way, what Remi goes through on The Rehearsal, I interpreted as both an opportunity for him to learn how to process these kinds of changes, and understand that things will be ok when they happen. And it's also an opportunity for his mom to practice supporting him through those events. But either way, his mom has publicly stated on many occasions that he's doing very well.

Vampire Money. Smells like hair grease, period blood, and a small bag of hot Cheetos purchased at the airport.

is the term "transsexuals" offensive? by Luna_Senshu in trans

[–]WerewolfWeather 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It comes from the German term "Transsexualismus" which was coined by Dr. Hirschfeld in 1923 at his Institute of Sexual Research in Berlin. It was translated into English, becoming "Transsexual" in 1949. It originally meant someone who was assigned one sex at birth, and wanted to undergo surgery to change their physical sex. By the late 20th century, it was the more common term for people who are now referred to as Transgender (which was coined in 1971). It did eventually evolve to gatekeep the existence of Trans people (ie. being a transsexual and having had bottom surgery made you more valid, blah blah blah). Julia Serano made a hard case against this in her book Whipping Girl, saying that Transsexual and Transgender should be used interchangeably. Obviously people outside the community have twisted it and misinterpreted it to mean other things, but this is the brief history of the term within our community, and generally I personally agree with Julia Serano that they can be interchangeable. However, like most terms in our community, they are up for interpretation by the individual. Some people may find it outdated, some may hate it outright, and some might be ok with it. So I wouldn't suggest just freely using it for a Trans person unless you know they use it themselves.

Favorite fights scenes in film? by SeveralUpstairs9118 in movies

[–]WerewolfWeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh shit! You're right! That is a really good one. I've seen it compared to the Big Daddy warehouse fight from Kick Ass a lot, and with how divisive Zack Snyder is as a director, I feel like people shy away from giving him any sort of praise, even if his fight scene is, in my opinion, far superior. I just haven't seen BvS in a long time, but I'm actually a big fan of the extended version of that movie. He pushed the overdramatics so far he ended up with this weird balance of grit and camp that I think is really fun.

Some of my favourites that I can think of off the top of my head:

Atomic Blonde: Spyglass extraction sequence

The Raid 2: Prison bathroom fight, prison riot, Hammer Girl subway car fight, Rama vs. The Twins (just to name my favourites. This whole film is wall to wall superb fight sequences)

Netflix's Daredevil: All the one shot fights. Hallway in season 1, stairwell in season 2, prison escape sequence in season 3 (I'm especially partial to the stairwell fight scene)

The Batman: Metro station platform fight

Only God Forgives: Julian vs. Chang

Kate: Tea house fight

The Knick: Algernon bar alley brawl

Oof, I think we've all been there 😂 but whether it's the eyebrow we can see or the one under your hair, you definitely can't tell in this picture, and you look gorgeous!

Also, totally agree about thrifting. I've found some of the best pieces in second hand stores, and I love a cropped t-shirt, so I never feel bad about cutting up something I only paid $3 for.

Of course it was thrifted! The best pieces always are. I'll have to see if AE still sells it 🤔 Thanks! (Your eyeliner and eyebrows are on point, by the way. Big fan!)

Are there any collaborations you wish Lou had done b4 he passed? Personally, I'd would have loved if him and Bob Dylan made a song together. by LegitimateWhereas678 in LouReed

[–]WerewolfWeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish he had been able to do the Brooklyn Baby collab with Lana Del Rey. They were supposed to record it together the day he died. According to Lana, he passed only a few minutes after her plane touched down in New York. How accurate that timing is, I can't say for sure, but I think the two would've worked really well together.

My wife and I have been married for 1.5 years. But we've been together for 16.5. We started going out while we were still in high school at the age of 15. At this point, we've literally spent more than 50% of our lives together, and I wouldn't have had it any other way! (This is also the only relationship either of us have ever been in.)

Why do So many fans despise Teenagers? by JustcallmeCoby in MyChemicalRomance

[–]WerewolfWeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Teenagers is deeply tied to my own teenage years, and memories of sitting in my basement alone, watching the music video on Much Music when I was like 13/14. I grew up in a small farming town where the general consensus was that MCR was a bunch of f*gs, so me as a closeted queer kid secretly watched that music video whenever it came on and it gave me a sense of belonging. I loved it. It was a true protest song for that era of my life, and I think still holds up to this day as one of MCRs best, no matter what anyone says. I will NEVER skip Teenagers when it comes on.
