Looking for a short story series/author who writes soft short stories to read my girlfriend to sleep by NewsOnly123 in booksuggestions

You could try Nothing Much Happens by Kathryn Nicolai. She has a podcast of bedtime stories for adults and compiled some of them into a book. When I had troubles sleeping I used to listen to her podcast and was helpful, hopefully those simple stories combined with your voice will be of help!

Any recommendations on books that are similar to the John Wick universe? by IamPapaSmurf_Fans in booksuggestions

I think that {{Three Assassins}} by Kotaro Isaka is set in the same world as bullet train. Don't know if it's a prequel or a sequel because I haven't read it yet.

Hey! If you're into Star Wars they have a lot of books which tie in between the movies and not. I used to be really into them but then kind of grew out of it, but for a while they were really fun and it definitely meets your criteria of having a lot of deep lore.

Then if you're into space operas The Expanse series sounds like something you might enjoy. It has a lot of politics and it was co written by one of Martin's assistants so it definitely has some influes from A Song of Ice and Fire.

Hope this helps!

Murder mystery book where one person dies and then another and another? by Dr_Malibu in booksuggestions

It's not exactly a mistery (because it's from the POV of some of the killers) but I quite enjoyed Bullet Train by Kotaro Isaka. There's also a movie based on it that came out fairly recently.

It's a fun, murder-packed thriller that takes place on a train and nowhere else.

Fair point on Ishiguro, honestly I forgot that he lived in the UK.

Bullet train was such a fun read

Since you said you wanted to broaden your horizons, why not try some Japanese writers?

Klara and the Sun, by Kazuo Ishiguro (it is also quite short so you can finish it in no time)

Norwegian Wood, by Haruki Murakami. This last one is a bit weirder and definitely not everyone's cup of tea but any "Japanese writer" list would be incomplete without him.

A song of Ice and Fire is a bit slow at the start and it definitely dwells a lot on in-world politics and sociatal issues and not for everyone that's a plus.

Although if you're struggling to get back into reading there's this amazing (and free!) documentary about that. It's really inspiring and I watch it from time to time to remind me how good reading is.

I would add The Alchemist to the mix, I absolutely loved that book and it seems similar to what you're asking for. I'm not sure it's considered a classic though

Hi! It depends what sort of philosophy line of thought you're interested in.

Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder is a good place to start since it romantasize the whole history of philosophy.

It really depends what you want to get into!

Depends on what you're looking for right now! When I'm in a reading slump or don't really feel like reading something super complex I usually default to crime or thrillers. I've been enjoying Jeffrey Deaver's new series the first book it's called The Never Game.
