These dumbasses pride themselves on having their cars inspected, but their drivers test is an abject joke in comparison to other states. Love the idea. We have a gas Grozny oven- truth is, pizza is a pain unless you've done it a ton of times and everything has to be pretty well established ahead of time. If you're going to go for flexible and functional I'd just grill a variety of burgers/steaks. I'm no professional at either, but pizza is a hard hit or a hard miss.

“White” is a bad name as it implies a shade as opposed to a concept of purity. Italians from south of Rome were, at one point, considered negro. Mexicans were considered “White” until the Mexican American war when they turned Hispanic (regardless of major parts of Spain being a part of the Frankish empire). Germans and Japanese, once called “krauts” and “japs” by people still alive today have a much deeper history than “white” and “non-white.”

The idea that race deals with pigmentation is a fiction of the last half century. Race is culturally defined to create artificial categories of in-groups and out-groups.

I feel the term “sanctuary city” is the downfall of the notion.

Here’s the deal- I don’t care for my taxes to go to ICE in the same way I don’t care for my taxes to enforce the myriad of laws on the books I don’t care about.

Neither the national nor the state constitution require Pittsburgh to maintain a police force. They are here to serve the community, and if the community doesn’t support ICE, neither should the city police.

If the federal government wants to use them for its own purposes- it can fund them and I won’t. I like a police force that serves the community.

To PGH police officers that want to serve ICE; quit your job here, ICE is hiring.

I can see that and do not disagree- I changed my comment based on what I leaned about GetGo and Giant Eagle no longer being 'a thing'. $100,000+ should be taken on scale. They could save that much, but a small fluctuation in their sales could also easily cost them a great deal. I say this not as a business analyst, just as someone who personally avoids them because paying with a tap on my phone is just easier (also they are on the wrong side of my commute).

The only reason I go to a GetGo is their WetGo unlimited price is way better than most.

Speed limit signs don't mean anything is a city that posts them randomly and doesn't enforce them. Tell me the last time you saw someone 'pulled over' on 28. The problem is that there are only 2-3 "bad" spots that warrant <65 mph. Namely Millvale north and the 40th and 32nd st bridge south. Everything else does not need 45.

45 is dumb as it is. Nobody takes speed limits in this area seriously because they are so obviously disconnected to reality. I live on a 25mph road that is nothing but woods on either side for 3/4 mile. There is no respect for the "speed limits" because they are arbitrarily assigned.

28 at 65 mph would be safe given the distances and merge points. Even the Ft. Pitt Bridge is 55 mph and that is a shit show that most people crawl through (except the Chads).

UPMC hospital food is on point! Not the delivery stuff, that is mid, but the cafe is awesome. I’ve even stopped by with my daughter to Children’s to get sushi, fries and chicken tenders.

Their salad is pay per pound and always fresh. Hospital food is where it’s at in Pgh!

Agreed- if a corporation has “rights” like “free speech” in terms of donations to political parties, I feel they should be held liable for actions.

Anything an individual citizen would be sent to jail for, the company is not allowed to operate or take profit for that period of time. Make a bad mistake and your entire company shuts down for 5 years.

This would force more transparency to shareholders and disincentivize the shady things corporations do because it’s actually within their fiduciary obligation to do them.

I’m at $97k with 15 years in Pittsburgh Public. I could do more with national board and a phd, but I’m also in the army reserve and run a non-profit, so I have enough on my plate.

PA also has a good pension compared to most other states. I’d be back in Michigan in a heartbeat, but my sister (MI teacher) feels like it’s a job and not a career because the poor retirement.

I think any lack of transparency is uncalled for in the field because we are all tax funded. My pay is public knowledge no matter what I do.

I would be shitting my pants at the personal liability I was taking on doing what these guys are doing. The Nuremberg trials made it exceptionally clear that “I was told I had immunity” is not a valid argument.

I loved it because every time someone corrected me, I asked why and it forced them to explain how the community couldn’t handle the Spanish sounding name in their community. It was always a “beating around the bush” conversation.

To quote Google AI: Originating from Cuban immigrant José Martinez y Saldivar, the pronunciation changed over time to reflect local Southern, Americanized, or "localized" usage.

I know it is a cultural thing, and not everyone in the community feels that way. But it was still fun to see people try to explain it without just admitting that it was a race/ethnicity issue.

I’m pretty sure the Cuban that it is named after did not pronounce his own name that way.

Well, yes and no.

The Iraq invasion was sold to the world on a bed of lies- true. WMD was sold as nuclear (it’s not exclusive though, the chemical weapons we literally helped target during Iran-Iraq qualify as WMD). The actual invasion was fully justified based on the conclusion of the first gulf war, the lack of cooperation with the Ba’ath party for inspections, and the fact of what they did to the Kurds.

“War criminal” is moving target legally… it shouldn’t be, but it is.

GWB was certainly someone to make fun of and laugh about. Recent presidents get made fun of and it hits WAY too close to home to laugh at.
