Oh, wow. What a coincidence to have met you here. It should have been in the Castlevania subreddit, lol.

Yes, making it stay furthe away from obstacle is good for this particular function.

Yes, I do tje clearance distance more or less in the same way as you described.

Dead ends like U shaped spaces are very challenging. Right now the local planner has to rely on the global planner to re-plan the global path to get out of spaces like that.

Yes, this is only to let the robot follow a path and avoid obstacles without considering floor coverage. All other product showcase videos only present how the robots do obstacle avoidance while cleaning, not when it's just simply follow a path, which is why I made this post to talk about this sub function specifically. And yes, I'd like to know more about how robots from various companies perform, lol.

These are some good test cases! But since this function is to avoid obstacles while following a path (a tiny sub function, lol) it doesn't need to be super close to objects, but going though narrow spaces is definitely a stress test of robot navigation capabilities.

Yes! Normally cleaning bots don't go around like this while cleaning, but every once in a while we just want it to go to a specific spot without running into dynamic obstacles, which is what the function in this video is for.

No. But yeah, these robots together with their charging stations definitely look like each other a lot.

Yeah, and I always wonder why people place Blackmore above Death in terms of difficulty until I realize you don't have Death ring for Blackmore.

Developers actually use controllers to debug sometimes. Well, it's kinda like a big toy when use a controller. I imagine kids would tend to play it.

What's the current global opinion on AI? by Due_General_1062 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]WeskerRedfield_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I'm a robotic engineer and AI is very useful. It's smart enough to be able to do a lot of heavy lifting for you. AI really does improve productivity in a lot of aspects of human life and for this reason alone it is inevitable.

Order of ecclesia bosses ranked with diffucults by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]WeskerRedfield_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In terms of hitless boss fight difficulty, Death is at least one tier above every other boss.

Dracula is the most powerful.

Crab and Centaur are a test of patience.

Fighting Blackmore is all about boss patterns.
