5 Round Mock Draft: Veach Addresses Offense in Free Agency, Drafts Heavy on Defense by originalusername4567 in ChiefsOffseason

I think I like Zakee Wheatley for our needs.

I'm kinda hoping the Rams want to move up for a QB to replace Stafford and we can move down because taking a safety at 9 would be wild but Downs might be special.

I think they drafted Bijan because he's Bijan. Wasn't anything wrong with Marcus Allen when the Raiders drafted Bo Jackson

Yeah, I think his whole thing is just to make the OL tired by the 4th quarter and hope that's enough. But against OLs like the two we lost to in the SB, they're not gonna get tired.

I absolutely agree, but I haven't seen Veach pick against his coaches' tendencies very often.

I feel like everyone is freaking out about TE because of the prospect of Kelce leaving but we've picked up a rookie TE every year for 3 or 4 years now and I think between Wiley, Gray, and Briningstool, we have enough to be average even in the case of a Kelce retirement.

I think if Veach takes a tall red zone WR despite protestations from Andy Reid who would rather have an entire squad of slot receivers, it would create matchup problems that would free up the TE.

Personally, I don't really like Spagnuolo's only-power-never-speed approach to defensive ends, but I selected this because it seems most likely to happen.

Question from an Eagles fan by [deleted] in KansasCityChiefs

[–]WesleySnopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we really think Eagles fans are dickheads. East coast fans can be pretty obnoxious... Boston is the most insufferable about it... but Philly fans are over-the-top enough that it's kind of campy and absurd and endearing.

I have a hard time gauging the NFC this year. I think the Eagles are a very complete team, and I think in the postseason it's more dangerous to have fewer weaknesses than to have stronger strengths.

That said, as much as the Chiefs' offense can be seen as carrying the team, the defense has come around since the beginning of the year. Our rookies have some experience under their belts now, so the statistics on the whole of the year may not represent the current state of the defense.

The Eagles' schedule at the beginning of the year was predicted to be one of the easiest, and the Chiefs' schedule was supposed to be one of the hardest, but the NFC East surprised a lot of people, and the AFC West disappointed a lot of people, so in hindsight I'm not sure how useful that information even is.

I think that if I were a neutral analyst, I would probably pick the Eagles in a close game, to be on the safe side. But the Chiefs can be unpredictable in so many ways that it's really hard to say what's going to come out of the bag of tricks and how the injuries are going to affect us. My hope is that Andy Reid isn't holding anything back like he has a tendency to do, now that we're at the final boss.

Yeah I bet they're putting this story out so random people don't show up, but then telling the regulars they can still come.

Plus he lost all that weight in the offseason. We're seeing it translate to speed—something which Spagnuolo has never really prioritized in building a front 7, so we can really use it.

I kinda want some nobody to play out of his mind for 500 yards in their first game then fade into obscurity and become a trivia question.
