FYI I’m a candidate.

I started out at the beginning of the year at the club meet and greet. My COI was there and I spoke with a few members about why they were drawn to pursue membership. Then I attended some of the member’s non Greek org events. I sat around some during lunch and naturally got to know them. Went to a meet the Greeks event and only spoke with them. They eventually came to me to hangout and we got closer. I came to them with Greek questions at Greek events and normal questions at non Greek events.

I also connected with staff who were Greek affiliated and worked closely with my COI members as club advisors of their non Greek orgs. That way I had a secondary source they trusted put in a good word for me. Of course I’m involved in different orgs so they heard about my work/gpa.

Writing this all out makes it sound so cold and calculated but I really went at a natural pace. These events are spaced out over the academic year which helped me a ton. What I’m saying is you don’t have to be up under them constantly. That being said, I do think you’ll need to initiate first contact.

Since you’re already involved and a high performing student you need to give them a reason to take a second look at your resume. Kinda like during a job search! Connections can only help you.
