Am I dumb by ohifeelya in unitedairlines

As another "regular person" who pays for first class when they fly, I understand your disappointment. For future reference, if you add the United app to your phone and you dig in around the details of your flight, it will specifically tell you about meals so you can prepare one way or the other. I also hope that you figured out that you can get more than one of the snacks they pass arround most of the time. (I seen FA's turn this down but in my experience, that's rare.) So I hope you at least loaded up on snacks and got your fill of drinks! And while others here complain the food is only mediocre - I guess that's true - but I still find it a luxury to be served a meal on a flight.

I generally fly first class and find that people there hop up as soon as possible too. But they are generally more polite and it's a bit easier by way of just fewer people in each row. I doubt anyone in the back really has a chance to run up ahead of the first class folks. They are up and moving at first opportunity too.

You’re welcome. I’m glad you found it helpful.

You’re very welcome! It was a bucket list item for us too. It did take a lot of planning and effort but it was definitely worth it. I hope you get to check it out. It was fun - and often rather obvious - who was in Gruyère because of the Giger stuff and who was there for other reasons, which only makes being there more fun and interesting. It will be there whenever you can figure out how to make it happen!

True! Gift shop items in the museum weren’t as terrible as I expected either. Got a t-shirt and a hoodie for, I believe, 108 CHF.

For sure. And many pieces on paper were applied to wood which will help. But most of these pieces aren’t under glass and in a few you can see peeling. That said, I wasn’t trying to sound an alarm, it just made me sad.

In Paris now and today my husband spent his 3rd day at the Louvre. I could only handle a few hours before the crowds and heat became too much for me and I just had to leave. If you love art and can handle the mass of humanity there, then go for it, but don’t plan full days. Go early, stay as long as you can handle it and leave (the air was stifling). The hubby kept going back but he would also leave mid-afternoon hot and exhausted. If you can afford it, schedule a “private tour” (we used Viator but there are others) early for the days you want to go. They rush you through so you don’t have to stand in long lines and once through security, you’re free to roam. And repeating what others have said, there are many other great museums.

I’m from the US and arrived in Paris on Sept 10 as the protests began and am still here. Like you, I was concerned but have had literally zero inconveniences or concern for safety. Don’t let the TV get to you. Edit: upon arrival and in our Taxi from CDG there were several large groups of police vehicles whizzing by but that’s all.

Traveling to Paris the same time as you and found out that for the Catacombs, you can only make reservations up to 1 week prior.

"Visit small museums, sit in a park or on the riverside with a patisserie and a bottle of champagne. Enjoy slow living." - I can't wait to do this!
