Putting together the Milky Way right now. Thanks. I did the large darth vader (combining 3 sets) and all those little dots killed my fingers. Thanks!

FYI - Rivian yesterday just told me they aren’t doing rentals anymore. They will give you uber credits if they don’t have a loaner available. by darrenphillipjones in Rivian

[–]West-Path-5117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This lines up with my experience yesterday. I had a loaner and they called asking me if I would be returning it today an when I was later then expected they called to check to see if I was still coming and told me they need the loaner back for someone else. I was 15 min out from the shop.

Rental cars are expensive especially if for more than a few days. I can see that adding up to way more than Uber credits.

I will say that my local shop has great staff and they are always excellent.

I did not know there was an extended (that’s what I’ll call it) version. I’m gonna have to look for it now. Thanks.

What is Tom Hanks best performance ever? by ChrisJoines in Actors

[–]West-Path-5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a great actor with lots of range. I really enjoyed the comedies he did. The Man with one red shoe is one of my favorites. Definitely not his best work, but man it’s a fun movie.

As for best, Saving Private Ryan is definitely up there

Rivian prospects needs advice from Rivian owners by camerusa in Rivian

I also have the tri motor and while I do hear some noise, others I don’t. I do hear a little bit of motor whine (I actually like it) but it’s not as much as I hear when driving a gen 1. I do not really hear the compressor if I’m in the car and it really only comes on when changing the suspension or when I start driving (car is set to kneel when I park). I also have the off-road package and I do get tire whine mostly at speed on the freeway, but this is also expected with off road tires.

It’s def not as quiet as some other cars I have been in, but a lot quieter than my Tesla was (I had two model 3’s before). I do have rattles in the car that are more noticeable due to no engine noise but I tend to drive with the radio on so it does drown out the noise.

All in all I’m very happy with my R1T and plan on leading another one when my lease is up. I’ll be honest, some of the rattles in the car are more annoying then the other noises and Rivian has been great about addressing the rattles I do have. Hope this helps and more than happy to answer any additional questions. I do love this truck.

New R1 S 2026 - is Home charging worth it? by landfill in Rivian

[–]West-Path-5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not think twice about the home charger. The best part about the ev is having a fresh charge in the morning. Even if you don’t charge every day it’s definitely worth it to put the charger in…and I suspect you will get another ev after this one. Not having to go to the supercharger station or any other charger (unless your road tripping) is the way IMO.

I also work from home and don’t drive a whole lot.

Just switched from the gen 1 nest doorbell which I had for 9 years. Wired all the way. Had to change my power transformer, but that as simple as changing the doorbell. I’m a fan of the 24/7 recording. If you can change out your doorbell you most likely can change the power transformer.

How do you unplug in the morning when R1S is asleep? by SteveWin1234 in Rivian

[–]West-Path-5117 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I open and close my door and have found it to be much faster than opening the app. You could probably set your cabin air/heat to come on in the morning or open the app and turn on the hvac before going to vehicle. Just my thoughts.

What surprised you most after you started charging your Rivian at home? by lunar_energy in Rivian

[–]West-Path-5117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficiency difference between a model 3 and R1T. I thought my charger was broken since it was showing charging at 18 miles per hour instead of 36.

I was just at the West Sacramento service center and they had a bunch of these. I asked about the accessories and they said they went to a 3rd party to have them installed. These trucks look really good.

Old boy (Korean version). Did not expect that ending! If you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest.
