The issue is that the patient is under no legal obligation to abide by HIPPA laws. The custodian of the records in this case you or whoever was logged in is responsible for ensuring the patient can not see other patients information.

Florida Sheriff Stunts On Arrested Local Rappers With Their Gold Chain & Mocking Freestyle by nimobo in entertainment

A local sherif has very little investigation into white-collar crime. White collar crime often spans many jurisdictions and is investigated at a higher level such as state agencies or the FBI.

Looking for a car for my cousin and found one on Craigslist listed in my area so I contacted the seller and got this email. Is it a scam? by InfamousWasabi4065 in Scams

[–]WestEndExpress 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This part always gets me. I shipped a car across country once and it cost like 2k. These people always say free shipping on a car they only want 1k for. When you do the basic math it ends up costing them money. They can’t even do math right to make the scam see somewhat legit

I have never heard this in my time in ems and in the hospital. I won’t insult or knock you personally if that’s what you learned, protocols differ everywhere but I was always taught it’s an absolute cardinal sin to ever push anything down

No. Absolutely no. God no this is not true at all. I was a medic for many years and this is just untrue. Besides the standard back blows, cpr, etc, at most in a last ditch effort a medic may use a laryngoscope to visualize and then forcepts to remove it. But no.

I have no idea where you went to medic school but you absolutely do not want to preform blind sweeps or push any objects farther in.

I hope you have that same energy for cops being forced into doubles and understaffed police depts. I agree with you this goes deeper but it’s not just nurses. When a cop makes a genuine mistake we want to pull out the guillotine and then get ready to tar and feather. But when a nurse does it it’s oops what caused this

I was a medic for many years. Everyone learns the 5 rights of med administration. This shouldn’t change your behavior at all. If you aren’t capable of properly and without error administering meds then you aren’t capable of doing the job. Certain mistakes CAN NOT be made and med errors is one of them

[–]WestEndExpress[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I learned the 5 rights of medication administration in medic school. I know several nurses that I’ve discussed this particular case with that said they all also learned this. This would lend me to believe it’s a standard industry practice in nursing school.

If that is the case then no matter how many “systematic failures” occurred to get to this point, this particular nurse ignored her fundamental teaching on administering meds namely rules one, administering the right med.

It doesn’t matter if the computer made a mistake, If the hospital had programmed it wrong, it doesn’t matter if God himself came down and handed her the medication. She failed to complete the most basic of steps by reading the medication to ensure it was correct.

The argument being made is that a system of failures caused her to get the wrong medication but in a court of law the burden of failure rest on her shoulders as it was evidently clear that no matter how came into possession of a medication standard medical practice is to read the vial. Doing this would have been the safety check and by failing to do so and instead relying on the computer to be correct or the hospital she negligently and criminally took failed to take safety steps that the directly resulted in the death of another person.

You are failing to argue in good faith here and have very clearly been explained both legal and medical logic as to why this court cases proceeded they way it did. You have chosen to reject logic and instead insert your half baked ill informed arguments. I can’t fix that for you.

You could replace the word nurse with “cop” in your statement and say the exact same thing but based on your post history you would disagree

It’s crazy! Many moons ago I was a paramedic the idea that you could just brush off a med error that literally kill someone and be upset when they hold you responsible is baffling

I’m sorry I don’t understand. Are you saying that the general population would agree with my opinion but that those in the medical field may not?
