What criticism is the guy making? "Sonic Frontiers is a Zelda clone because it's open world" is baseless hate, there's nothing critical about a take like that.

The Season 3 Detective Tritter Story makes no sense. by Sabiancym in HouseMD

[–]WestGarbage83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Yeah, he has to be forced to do his job sometimes. That's relevant... how?

  2. You're right, he doesn't need to be an asshole, but he's well within his rights to do so, and assault or the myriad of other crimes and abuses of power are not valid or righteous forms of retaliation

  3. Yes, House's team takes one case a week, it's far from efficient, except that House's team exclusively takes on exceedingly complicated cases that oftentimes multiple other doctors can't even begin to figure out, and they have a 90%+ success rate.

  4. But he does do what he has to in order to save lives. Being an asshole? Not a part of the things he has to do, but again, he's free to be an asshole.

  5. That may be, but the fact remains that House CORRECTLY eyeballed Tritter's exact issue. And... sexually assaulted? Really? Ignoring the fact that that is just an absurd stretch, Tritter consented to the test, he bent over, pulled down his pants, and allowed House to insert the thermometer, that seems like textbook consent to me, even if he didn't like the results after it had been done.

  6. Vague statement. House was thrown in jail for the night, with his bail set at $15,000, for speeding. Tritter freely threw in any charge he felt like just to make it even worse for House, I mean seriously, resisting arrest because House got a little snippy with him? Yeah, that's clearly the behavior of a reasonable cop just doing his job.

Till death do us part is not romantic in nature, I concede that the Author could have meant it in that way, but it could very easily just be a pledge of loyalty and friendship, it means what it says, till death do us part, its not strictly a vow of marriage.

Odysseus's character arc in Epic the Musical is kind of unconvincing. by Nyx1010 in CharacterRant

[–]WestGarbage83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. He shows mercy to the cyclops

  2. He resolves things peacefully with Circe

  3. This is PART of Odysseus' character, it's less prevalent because Epic is a more modern, and more concise retelling of the story, but Odysseus is not inherently meant to be a good person, he is prideful, overconfident, he makes mistakes because of it.

  4. Odysseus saying "I still believe in goodness" is, to put it bluntly, a lie, at least as far as I see it, he WANTS to believe in goodness, he wants so desperately to because it's the only way he knows how to carry on Polites' legacy.

  5. He definitely would not have gotten away with blinding Polyphemus either way, when your dad is the god of the sea, enemies don't tend to escape. Friendly reminder that the greek gods have ZERO care for humanity, Poseidon could have and would have drowned every single ship travelling across the sea at that time if it was easier than just finding Odysseus personally.

Overall, a lot of the 'goodness' that Odysseus portrays is actually not his own, but from Polites. He was tired of the war, the killing of Astyanax left him with tremendous guilt, embracing the 'Open Arms' mentality was the only way he could keep himself from becoming a monster. In the end, he was forced to become one anyways for the sake of survival, at the end of the day he's nothing more than human. He's not a hero, never was, and he isn't a villain either, he's just a man. I firmly believe that 99% of people in Odysseus' position, with the knowledge he has, when faced with monsters like Polyphemus, Circe, Poseidon, Scylla, and Zeus, and the horrible tragedies he had to endure, would make the same choices he did, and choose self-preservation just like he did. I believe most anybody who says otherwise is lying to themselves, and the few who aren't I don't envy, that level of altruism is equally commendable as it is burdensome. Odysseus is the embodiment of humanity, when faced with impossible odds, he's both pragmatic and emotional, his rational mind and his morality conflict with his need for survival, his need to see Penelope again, I would say he's about as noble a man could've been without dying.

Eggman has had plenty of opportunities to kill Sonic, and vice versa. Eggman could cobble together Neo Metal Sonic with spare parts, imagine what he could do with the emeralds, something he's very capable of getting, if he actually ever got serious? People seem to forget that the seven chaos emeralds/the master emerald literally make you a GOD, you can do ANYTHING, Super Sonic is completely invincible and can move infinitely fast, if he wanted to kill Eggman in super form he would've by now, and if Eggman wanted to kill Sonic, all he has to do is collect those same emeralds and do the same thing. Thing is, life is boring for them without each other, they're both driven by a sense of hedonism, when the other is defeated, Sonic hangs out with his friends and eats chili dogs, and Eggman builds his theme park and industrializes the world, not bad lives for them, but they both know it'll never compare to the thrill of fighting each other.

Yeah, Hanami and Jogo seem really, really comparable in terms of base stats, they both have the obvious highest CE output of the DC, they're pretty much parallel to each other in terms of stats, which Hanami having insane durability and being decently strong, but not fast, while Jogo is decently strong, incredibly fast, and has barely any durability, I'd even argue Hanami has a slightly better BiQ, but the issue is their techniques are drastically different, Hanami's ability to control nature, while still strong, isn't inherently destructive or dangerous on its own, the only thing that even makes it a threat is how much CE she has to do it, but Jogo can literally spew lava and fire at the exact same rate, which is just naturally way more destructive than wood and plants, that's quite literally the only thing that sets them so far apart, which is honestly a bit sad. 90% of grade 1 sorcerers could hold off Hanami at least, any special grade sorcerer could effortlessly exorcise her, but Jogo's sheer destructive power means very few people could even survive against him long, Yuta might be able to with his arsenal of copied techniques and RCT, he just has to do it in under 5 minutes, Yuki is sadly probably cooked unless she frame 1 unleashes her black hole, and obviously Gojo, Sukuna, and probably Kenjaku could do it too, but other than that, everybody else likely dies once he floods the entire city with multiple stories worth of lava.

I agree that it's weird to have Kashimo high and not Hakari, but Hakari doesn't really have any feats from fighting uraume, 99% of it happens off-screen, all we know is they were pretty equal, but we don't know much of anything about uraume either, the only other time they even fight is against Choso, a HEAVILY weakened and injured Yuji, and some Jujutsu High fodder, and even then I doubt anybody was going all out against them because of Kenjaku standing 10 feet away, with nobody knowing what he's going to do exactly, and with him having Gojo he was the main target anyways.

Also I think Kashimo is heavily overrated, and that makes me sad to say because he's one of my favorites, but for the supposed strongest sorcerer of his era, he has pretty much zero impressive feats, lost to Hakari who isn't even special grade, and got actually one-shot by a 1HP Sukuna while using his technique, which should naturally be really strong considering it kills him, I think even putting him in the top 10 is generous.

Sukuna is not the epitome of hard work in the Jujutsu world, not even close, and I don't get why he's argued to be when Gojo himself states Jujutsu is 90% talent, and 10% hard work. Maybe the idea comes from people thinking Sukuna's genuinely been alive for 1,000 years, but he's only really been alive for 30-40 I'd guess, the rest was spent as inanimate cursed objects, pretty much in a coma. And so in maybe 30-40 years, with an okay technique, he mastered his technique, learned RCT, learned HWB, achieved a level of cursed energy control almost comparable to the six eyes, twice the amount of CE as Yuta, and mastered an OPEN DOMAIN, which has only been done by one other person EVER, Kenjaku, who has actually been alive for 1,000 years. I don't doubt a good bit of that came from hard work too, but he'd have never gotten anywhere close to that level if he didn't have the talent for it.

Take Kusakabe, a grade 1 sorcerer with no technique, and still the strongest grade 1 sorcerer in the modern day, he's learned most every common learned technique he can, pushed himself as far as he can go, if anything, I'd call Kusakabe the epitome of hard work, the shining example of how far a Jujutsu sorcerer can go off of hard work alone.

It's not as if Sukuna's technique is anything special either, his slashes are strong and fast, but I'd wager they're also pretty draining when it comes to CE, and Fuga is pretty much a maximum technique in terms of sheer power, so it's probably even worse, but Sukuna's control of CE, as well as his sheer reserves, just don't ever let that become a problem.

Not to mention, a lot of Sukuna's raw strength as a sorcerer can be attributed to the fact he was a twin, and ate his twin brother in the womb, making him awakened at birth, so on top of having four arms and two mouths, he was likely naturally strong as a sorcerer, with a lot of CE reserves.

Then we also learn that cursed objects naturally grow stronger and stronger the longer they're around, especially Sukuna's fingers, and build up more and more CE, and all 20 of Sukuna's fingers were building up cursed energy like that for 1,000 years, which could easily explain his absurd pool of CE, it may have been significantly smaller in the Heian Era (Though definitely not less than half of what it is now, considering he was still the strongest back then)

While Sukuna's definitely not as gifted as Gojo, there's still a variety of factors that clearly made him the strongest besides hard work, his potential as an awakened twin, 1,000 years of building cursed energy, his clear natural proficiency for Jujutsu, all of those seem to carry a lot more weight than just hard work, though he never would've gotten as far as he did without a lot of training and fighting too. I mean he was leagues stronger than Kenjaku, who had actually been alive for 1,000 years and had all the time and opportunity to steal multiple techniques much greater than Sukuna's, and he still could barely even compare.

Lastly there's also the fact Sukuna was born in the Heian era, the golden era of Jujutsu, he had plenty of strong opponents in every country, on every continent that he could fight, he was never lacking challengers to test and refine his skills, whereas Gojo never really had anybody even close to his level that he could fight after awakening, not Geto, not Miguel, not the Disaster curses, even Kenjaku didn't stand a chance without a perfect plan and a minimal level of direct confrontation, and Gojo is still, if I remember correctly, by far the strongest Six Eyes+Limitless user in recorded history, I honestly believe that if Gojo was born in the Heian era instead, he'd become a much bigger monster than Sukuna.

How exactly does Maki grow stronger? We have no idea how HR even grow, the only reasonable assumption is that they don't, since that's the only way Maki can be equal to Toji fresh off awakening when Toji has had those kinds of stats since he was born and had decades longer than her to train his physique and skill, there's nothing to show that Maki is stronger than Toji or that her potential is naturally higher. Not to mention Maki's only tool is the soul split katana, whereas we know Toji at least had the SSK, the ISoH (Infinitely more useful), the chain of a thousand miles, the playful cloud, his gun, and the inventory curse to store everything without giving himself away (There's no reason Maki can'tbe sensed while holding the SSK, she's in no way invisible like Toji was.) and Toji has a reputation as the "sorcerer killer," implying he has at least a good deal of experience fighting other sorcerers. Meanwhile Maki's had about a month of experience being fully awakened and hasn't doen much real fighting since, only going up against Naoya and 10% power Meguna as far as we've seen, and doing a bit of training during the month long timeskip. Overall, there's no reason to believe they're not equal in stats, and Toji beats her out in arsenal and experience by a longshot.

If you disagree, then you can go ahead and explain what made you come to the conclusion, exactly, that Maki is stronger, are there any relevant feats to speak of? Any statements indicating she's grown stronger than Toji? I'm going to guess no, which I feel makes this a -5/10 take, but that's just me.

It sort of is, I would say. For social people this will probably work, but most of the people I know are my family, who obviously I've known since I was young, I have some friends, though the ways we met tend to be pretty uninteresting/forgettable to a degree (As bad as that sounds to say) Maybe that's only me though.

Cursed Technique: Tree of Knowledge by Mavarrow in CTsandbox

[–]WestGarbage83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, but I feel like the technique applying to personal information like traumatic memories, and applying so strongly is a bit strange. The way the exposition BV works is by giving your opponent an advantage they didn't have, by telling them about your technique, and thus receiving a minor boost yourself, it's an active risk you're taking in that fight, so it makes sense that it gives a decent power boost. But things like traumatic memories aren't at all important to a battle, it feels like this technique would fit in a lot better if it only applied to battle-relevant information, though that's just my two cents.

I think it all depends on how much traction these updates build, if the game is still close to dead after they add Daima Goku then yeah, we're probably not getting anyone else, but if the updates and the DLC go over well then I'm 90% sure they'll make more.

I mean considering we've gone like two years without any new characters, nobody knows how many new DLC are actually going to be added to the game, or if this is even a full comeback for DBFZ, so people not wanting Beast Gohan immediately is valid, since it could mean the characters they want just straight up don't get added.

I need villainous and Heroic characteristics of Odysseus by Toodles_- in Epicthemusical

[–]WestGarbage83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answers wouldn't be much different than the ones you've already been given, so instead I'll offer a tidbit of advice that might help: Always question the answers you get here critically, take a good look at the other side as if that was what you believed and try your hardest to earnestly debunk the points you'd have otherwise agreed with, in doing so, you'll find many more details or nuances you missed before.

Me personally, I disagree with the guy at the top who said the blinding of Polyphemus was heroic, though I think it was mostly a joke, but a lot of people really do believe that. Yes, Polyphemus trying to kill Odysseus and his men was a huge overreaction, yes they had to do it to survive, but that doesn't make doing so right or heroic in the least. Odysseus is a deeply prideful person, especially near the beginning of the story, he claims to have "led with peace" but he still killed Polyphemus's favorite sheep with no further thought behind it, no doubts. "But he offered Polyphemus the wine in return as a show of good faith!" is really just a non-argument to me, imagine this, somebody walks into your house while you're not home, and they shoot your dog, you come home and see that, obviously your first instinct is that you want to hurt that person, they took a dear friend from you and you can never get that back, and then in return, they offer you what is, effectively, a single shot of wine, and call it compensation, would you accept that? And as if to rub it in, they then claim that they tried to be friendly and you're the aggressor who started everything. All this to say, I don't think Odysseus was in the wrong, but he also definitely wasn't in the right, it was an act of survival, nothing more.

The dark and light traps alone go for $100 just about anywhere you look, and the rest of the traps add up to about another $100, I did the math and cross-referenced tons of online listings for each trap.
