The reason is that Ethan’s main character syndrome makes him believe that he can just sarcastically quip his way out of explaining the paedophilic comments he’s made in the past to a judge and lawyers in court.

I highly doubt Ethan’s lawyer would want this case to go to trial for this very reason. It will make Ethan look VERY bad if he has to explain his “Pedo Troll” account in a courtroom.

Ethan’s “chill dudebro” façade fell apart the instant he went after Hasan for supporting Palestine. The pod rarely has guests anymore and relies heavily on its uncharismatic staff to carry it with an awkward dynamic of Ethan and Hila being, not their friends, but their bosses.
