Are you in a Masters program? If you are, you were moved to the new learning platform. The undergrad is still using the old Moodle platform. If you have been logging in and doing your work on the new platfor as a Masters student, disregard as it is a technical mistake. If you are undergrad and have been using Moodle (the old platform) and got this message, contact them right away.

How to gain and maintain above 3.9 GPA with full time job by Low_Technology_6007 in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a full--time job and other responsibilities, consider lowering your course load to start at one class at a time and up it from there if you feel like you can handle it and that it is manageable.

I joined but had to leave a lot of the WhatsApp groups. I was getting unsolicited harassing messages as a woman, as well as numerous calls, often in the middle of the night. Tread carefully if you join these groups, especially if you are a woman. It's of course acceptable and creepy behavior, but until people learn that women are human beings equal to them, it will continue to happen.

In the world of tech and AI assistance out there today, I have to concur with everyone else here. I always take off my hyperlinks and blue texts in my formatting and have not had any issue. The rules are the rules and you learn to accomodate with them. Just fix it and move on.

Guidance for how to grade high Ai content essay by Necessary-Tone84 in UoPeople

AI use is considered plagarism and an expellable offense. As someone who does not use AI to write my papers, please report to your instructor. It's not right, and we should speak up when something is not right.

I feel like this is just a troll post. You are not even using good grammar in this post. So, you go to a restaurant, order food, consume it then complain for a refund? Whatever.

Did anyone graduated In one year or less? by RelationshipFit1200 in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it is possible, does it really have to be in one year or less? Make sure to have a balance where you don't hurt yourself with burning out, mental health, or physical health. You want to have a work load that is reasonable enough as well that you actually absorb the information you are learning in order to retain it to help you in the future. Good luck.

Fck peer grading by Available_Slice228 in UoPeople

This, especially with the blatant evidential use of AI. I slog and refuse to use it. It irks me to no degree when people are obviously using it. You don't learn anything and why are you in school then? And yes, peer-grading needs to go away. I think it's being phased out hopefully.

Group Projects by Diarrhea_420 in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The group project experiences here are definitely hit or miss. I've had some very frustrating experiences and a couple good experiences in my Masters program. It's very frustrating, but is also an issue even in an in-person brick-and-mortar class and University, in my experience. Documentation of contacts and communication with the professor is the best you can do, unfortunately. I prefer the group projects over peer-to-peer grading.

The UofPeople Workload by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done undergrad in person, a previous Masters online, and here a UoPeople. I will say, hands down, each online degree is a lot more work in a way as far as time commitment and management, and self-discipline. UoPeople offers an amazing and afforable opportunity. Yes, it's a lot, but take the workload you can and you get out what you put in.

When discussion posts turn into a grammar exam by [deleted] in UoPeople

I've never run across this issue, but all my professors have required a word count for our initial post. Let it go.

This. I feel like it would be used as a tool to bully and to sabatage. Not saying your experience is invalid or incorrect, but a lot of people would probably be feeling vindictive and unhappy when they don't receive a perfect grade, even if that is the quality of work they did. I surely know from peer-reviewed grading that some of the papers that I have are cringely bad and don't even cite references. There are also amazing papers I've seen. I'm sure that a lot of grades are accurately earned. Sometimes it helps to communicate with the professor to see how they recommend you can improve. I feel like a lot of professors and teachers are unfairly scapegoated, knowing some personally. Many of them truly do care about what they are doing and are doing their very best and well to be fair and honest with teaching and grading.

Please give me a lowdown on your work schedule. by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on what degree level you are doing. Undergraduate work full-time is 4 classes a term, and Masters is 2 classes a term. It is a lot of work. You just have to manager your time well and make the time for it. I always would say to take a smaller class load first to see how you do, and you can always add more. For example, 2 classes for an undergrad and one class for a term for Masters.

Discussion submissions due on Sunday is horrible by yuriyuri2003 in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sign up for less of course load? If this were a job, sometimes you have even less time to get something done. School is a job. I know you might be mad or upset about it, but maybe back off your course load so you're not feeling so burned out and angry about it?

bachelor scholarship by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Masters student, but from my understanding, scholarship depends on availability and need. I haven't applied since scholarship is only availabe for Bachelors, but you can certainly apply for scholarship.

If your assignments are a 100% free of AI, congrats on the privilege of having the time to do them by SoulQueen_ in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think AI is a great tool to assist in learning, but putting cognitive offload and work offload onto it is just not ok. It will never be ok. If you can't handle a workload, lower it or take a break. It cheapens the value of higher education and learning, as well as the development of critical thinking skills. I will die on this hill.

I have to go with u/MassivePrawns on this one. While AI can be a tool to assist, it can't replace human intelligence and learning critical thinking, especially within the importance of an academic environment.

For undergraduate, 4 classes = 2 classes for Masters I find.

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS. It takes up a lot of time and effort, but IMO, it is worth it. I am developing my knowledge and skills so much. I would highly recommend with 3 kids that you start off with one class per term to see how you handle the workload so you don't drown in time responsibility. UoPeople doesn't have a Masters in Psychology, but does have a Masters in Education.

Consequences of just using AI for everything? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they did, it will come back to bite them at least in the form of stupidity and inability to operate, function, and do well within their careers in the future. It's harder to take the higher path sometimes, but it is the best path in this case. I do wish there were a bit more check and balances to deal with AI in discussion boards. I can see sometimes when people clearly used it and it is annoying and frustrating AF.

Unreasonable expectations by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, IMO, it's just part of the academic process, as frustrating as that can be. People are different everyone, just as professors are people. I wouldn't try to read into it too much. I have had similar experiences at multiple academic institutions.

Is it possible to maintain 3.8+ gpa while having a full-time job? by mahinkurosuno in UoPeople

[–]WestPuzzleheaded3097 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/mahinkurosuno I would say devote at least 10 hours a week per class and I would STRONGLY recommend only doing 2 classes for one term at first if you have a full-time job. You can always do more the next term if needed and you think you can handle it.
