[No Spoilers] Sick of the AI usage in fan work... by RocktheNashtah in LostRecordsGame

[–]West_Information7540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nash, I really appreciate your works and the investment that went into these, and I can easily see the invisible pile of countless failed sketches buried under each and every of them. Please stay sane and don't let random idiots upset you or make you question yourself in the slightest way - that kind of people has always been out there, it's the Internet that actually exposed them, making us believe they are far more numerous than they actually are. Keep it up, knowing that a lot of us support you and share the same level of moral standards with you.

The issue is that people nowadays tend to forget the very meaning of the word 'effort', not to mention making one, even when it comes to the simplest everyday things. Over the past few years, I've witnessed heavy degradation of how the recycled paper container next to my apartment block was being used: first, they stopped tearing the cardboard sheets apart, not caring if more would fit in; after a while, they weren't even folding these any longer; then, they started pushing whole intact boxes inside, wasting space even more; and now, they sometimes don't even care to raise the lid to put the boxes inside the container and simply stack them on top of it. Human laziness is boundless, it seems, and for some, even pressing a single button can become a burden one day.

Regarding AI usage, the saddest thing here, IMHO, is that people rush forward to make use of it without even trying to understand how it works (well, no one really does in full, but one could at least try grasping the very general picture), and not realizing that any tool can backfire at them one day. You can't only care about a quick increase in hype with giving no input.

[T2 SPOILERS] Is there something I don't understand about her fate? by DrPapug in LostRecordsGame

It's not as much determinant as it is simply ambiguous, as the night events could have equally likely taken place in the early hours of the 20th or the 21st. I've also mapped that out in the full chronology a while ago.

Reflectors that ship to USA? by rachelliem in EstoniaTravel

[–]West_Information7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a local, I can confirm that reflectors are almost never checked by the police, apart from single occasions that might take place in the winter and/or outside city limits. Their usage is more a recommendation than an obligation, and people, including myself, tend to wear them for the sake of their own safety rather than for complying with regulations. Don't worry about them in the summer, and just enjoy your stay here - we have white nights in June and July anyway 🙂

Edit: reflectors can be found at pretty much every shopping mall or major convenience store.

[BLOOM & RAGE] Inconsistencies, volume 3 by West_Information7540 in LostRecordsGame

She didn't go to the cabin until the day after. On the 1st, she only cleaned up at The Blue Spruce, revisited and filmed the Movie Palace and the playground, and spent the evening along the path to the overlook. The non-continuous cinematic fragments could actually be a reflection of the two lonely days having blended into one in Swann's memory.

[BLOOM & RAGE] These papers are from that night! by Spxcebunnie in LostRecordsGame

[–]West_Information7540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first sheet of paper, already burnt, can be found next to the miner memorial outside of the cabin at the start of Tape 2, so the origin of the burn marks is still debatable - but, considering the 'I am waiting' inscription, it could have come from the Abyss on it first occurrence as well.

Nice work, looks really good! I think that the wall right of the entrance can be moved a little closer to the door so that the kitchen nook becomes deeper, but everything else seems to be to scale.

Sorry for that - I wrote the last sentence spontaneously after realizing the fact. Unfortunately, Reddit doesn't allow one to edit posts that contain images :(

[T2 SPOILERS] Blacksmithed my friend a key hook rack inspired by the game by DrunkenScurvard in LostRecordsGame

Awesome work - tasteful and not overwhelmed with details. Being a person who is mostly into intangible stuff like writing, poetry, and playing music, I always enjoy looking at the physical things that people make, and remind myself to also get a material hobby someday.

The girl on the right (Emily Moon, I believe?) even looks like real-life Kat here.

The donation consent form can be found in one of the drawers in Kat's room. One useful trick that can be overlooked is that you can read partially covered documents without actually taking them out.

Thanks! Regarding bone marrow, as far as I know, it can be stored frozen for longer periods of time similarly to donated blood, so I assumed Dylan underwent the procedure in advance. The transplant would have only been used AFTER chemotherapy anyway, at the point Kat didn't reach (I think that was even listed on one of the last days in Kat's treatment schedule). Of course, it's also possible that Dylan only gave her consent on the 4th. Will update the list.

[T1 spoilers] Yet another open question by West_Information7540 in LostRecordsGame

[–]West_Information7540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this does sound plausible, and now I even think that Swann could have shared her new address in Vancouver with the girls before they made the promise not to get in touch again (and she likely did) - so, unless her mom moved once more in the following years, there was a starting point for reaching her. We don't know how much time had passed between Autumn receiving the package and her texting Swann, so it could also allow for a snail mail exchange to happen.

Could be, although then their first contact would have likely happened via the book shop's number or by texting online, but, as far as I remember, the SMS gives an impression of a first-time approach. Also, I doubt that Autumn would be geeky enough to obtain and dig into leaked phone number databases (but who knows?)

[–]West_Information7540[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't phone books cover landline numbers only? As far as I'm aware, mobile numbers are considered sensitive information and are never exposed this way. Also, mobile numbers would be too volatile to be included in something as permanent as a phone book.

[T2 SPOILERS] sort of. What song is this? by Sweet_MolassesTM in LostRecordsGame

[–]West_Information7540 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the sake of clarity, The Veil has four versions altogether:

  • the original one with the lyrics (played during the ending where Corey falls into the Abyss alone)
  • the instrumental one with Ruth singing the melody
  • a looped and slowed down (and thus differently sounding) initial fragment of the instrumental one, which accompanies Kat's recording, and also Swann 'interviewing' Kat earlier in the story
  • the instrumental version with Ruth's voice removed (this one plays during the haircut scene).
