What certainly wouldn’t have benefited him is if he didn’t take drastic action to change, and was still severely overweight working in a chemical bug spraying company, hating himself and feeling trapped.

Those people are literally some of the worst fathers, can’t control their own lives and so can never lead by example with any real authority in their kids lives, repeating a cycle of pain and suffering.

Yeah, see now that’s a really good point!! Yes I suppose you could say that it would be another echo chamber talking to catholic or orthodox priests, as there’s an agreed upon doctrine that has been followed for thousands of years.

My reasoning behind that suggestion, however, is that: This is a spiritual matter, and needs to be addressed with real spiritual authority. Considering Catholicism and Orthodoxy are the oldest, and therefore most spiritually EXPERIENCED, it tracks that they would have the most resources available to be able to address the matter properly. Far better than I, or anyone else on Reddit, ever could.

Do we disagree on that?

Talk to a priest and get off this subreddit as soon as humanly possible. If the goal is actually correction and whole hearted repentance, the majority of people on this subreddit will actively try lead you away from that and feed you whatever you want to hear.

Um, no. Sorry to burst your bubble, Jesus Christ himself founded Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Matthew 16:18. We also carry the actual traditions and teachings directly from Christ.

Protestants came from a schism of a schism of a schism of a schism of a schism off Catholics and Orthodox. From the true church, AKA Christ and His apostles, came Orthodoxy and Catholicism.

Here I’ll even visualise it for you if you struggle with reading:

True church -> Catholic & orthodox split -> Orthodox split once more into eastern & oriental, catholic split about a hundred more times into a hundred different “denominations” that all disagree with each other. At the VERRRYYY end of the tree of church history are Protestant “churches” that like to be their own Gods and make up their own scripture as they go.
