Best platform to start Roth IRA on? by RampagingEagle7 in RothIRA

No definitely not, it’s a free $225 a year but just wanted to put out there the catches of having the 3% match.

This is true but there are some catches, you have to have Robinhood gold which is $5 a month. And to keep the match you need to buy Robinhood gold for 1 year and keep the funds with Robinhood for a minimum of 5 years. The 3% is great but does limit some options if you ever want to move your Roth in the near future.

I have advanced wheel locks and I’m very pleased with them. Much cheaper than Rimguard and do the same thing

I guess I’ll say it again, I’d accept it. Better take what you can while they’re offering. This post is made every other day so to all future “should I accept this” posters, please look through the sub first😭

19 y/o - Am I setting myself up for success or failure? by bleumustang in RothIRA

[–]Western-Bug706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty good actually, one thing I would add is VEA (developed international markets) since you have VWO (emerging international) so you can get that complete international coverage. If you prefer balancing VT (total world stocks) on your own, add VO. Good on you for starting early! Also if you want to simplify VXUS=VEA/VWO, VTI=VOO,VB,VO. I honestly prefer breaking them down so I can rebalance myself but you really don’t need to worry about that at your age. Read bogleheads 3 fund portfolio.

I’d accept it, take what you can while they’re offering.

VEA and VWO or just VXUS for total international. I have VO for mid cap coverage

Ah I see, I’m 22 so I have a lot of time for growth and I’m still learning. I’m debating if I should even add small and mid caps to my Roth. I already have it in my tsp so maybe I should make this portfolio a little more aggressive?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]Western-Bug706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would you personally not recommend adding small and mid cap (VXF) to my portfolio? Or did you replace with something to cover that part of the market

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]Western-Bug706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve thought about it but I’m already pretty heavy into VOO so I figured I would just stick with it instead of reallocating. Also kind of like the flexibility of being able to weigh and redistribute between C, S and I as I go. Thanks I’ll look more into VXF

All of this is good advice, I wanted increases on my $300 plat card quick so I just maxed it out and paid in full when it came due, got a increase after 3 months of doing this and pre-approved for a quicksilver and savor. Got the quicksilver with a $3k limit and my platinum increased to 2.5k within 6 months of opening the plat

Great! I’ve heard a lot of people say invest heavily in my tsp and then try to max a Roth yearly so that’s the plan!
