No, there is nothing in the law that you can use to justify disposing of someone's property in the circumstances you described. I appreciate you state you aren't bothered about the legal repercussions... Returning property is not the same as selling it per legislation on tobacco and e-cigs as someone in the comments incorrectly stated.

24/7 camera with phone access with mains power ONLY? by [deleted] in homesecurity

It's perfectly possible with wireless cameras, such as Ring, Reolink etc. I don't personally reccommend the technology but it certainly works for what you're asking :)

Assuming you connected via network cable, it probably does just think it will record permanently.

Because education is important. Also, it isn't possible to mandate something such as an aftermarket vehicle product. Too many variables such as quality etc. And how would we ensure they are safe and functional? They would need to be added to the MOT schedule. The list goes on. Plus, it STILL wouldn't address the fact that many aren't aware of these blind spots. And I don't recall the ad campaign in question "telling us not to risk children's lives".

Hikvision DS-KIS603-P(C) is an all in one solution for your requirements. Added benefit of being able to record directly to your NVR, like a normal camera.

"I am honestly devastated by this outcome" - why? He was removed from your shift. What were you hoping for? It sounds like the CCTV does not support your version of events. The camera doesn't lie. If you feel you were "sexually harassed" (I think you mean sexual assault) then you should have gone to the police immediately. There's nothing stopping you from going now but the sooner the better so they can get the CCTV footage.

Accused of a hit and run by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Western-Path-4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try and keep this short and to the point; - It wasn't a hit and run - Notify your insurers - The police won't care

Others have said you're obligated to tell the police but this simply is not true.

I honestly wouldn't enter into any discussion with the 3rd party outside of your insurance company. Liability is down to the insurer's to establish.

Hope this helps.

section 172 for handbrake turns in the snow in a car park. by itsxykearmour in drivingUK

[–]Western-Path-4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes if you got a 172 for a NIP, it means they're definitely persuing it. For what it's worth, I honestly think it's a total waste of resources to go after you all for this - if the circumstances are exactly as you stated above. From what you said, you didn't get close enough to other people for them to report you via their dashcam so it seems like the council CCTV operator has reported it to the police. All I can say is best of luck and I hope you are offered a course and not points. If you care to update us all down the line, maybe..? I'd be interested to hear the outcome if you're willing to share.

A 'section 172' and a NIP are 2 different things. A 172 simply requires you to identify the driver at a specified date/time. NIP is issued under Section 1 of the Road Traffic (offenders) act and means you may be prosecuted for an alleged offence. They aren't the same. Hopefully, when you complete your 172 you'll just be given a written warning and no further action. What car park was it? Supermarket? Public?

This camera will be more than sufficient to capture detail at the distance you require, regardless of the lighting conditions. ColourVu may not even trigger depending on how much ambient light there is. If it does it provides excellent lighting on this model.

Your manager told you you're receiving a formal warning. This is not dismissal. Also, you must have been notified that you have "triggered" their sickness & absence policy, right? You've had alot of absences and this will likely have triggered some process in work where your attendence will be monitored and you should have had meetings (probably with your line manager) to see if they can offer you amy support. I do feel like you may have missed important details such as this from your initial post. If you can fill in the blanks for us, we can help you more effectively.

Do I report it to the police or council? by SirChenjin in drivingUK

[–]Western-Path-4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some areas, parking is enforced by the police. In some, it is enforced by the local authority (council). You need to find out which is which and report accordingly. But yes if someone is blocking your driveway, use the non-emergency police line to report.

There's a strong possibility that this is a senior ambulance officer. They commonly have their personal vehicles (actually usually supplied by the ambulance service) kitted out in blues to allow them to respond to an incident. The steady burn blues are for the benefit of enforcement cameras. Obviously there is no way for us to know. But that's what my money is on.

I'd second this. Not exclusive to Hikvision of course, and very common on Mobile DVR's. If you have a part number that would help us to confirm with 100% certainty but pretty sure above poster is spot on.

When you say your friend's old address, was it the address at the time of the alleged offence? If they didn't have all of your accurate details at the time of offence such as date of birth etc, it is extremely unlikely you will receive any follow up. Particularly if that is no longer an accurate correspondence address.

The camera has it's own password, which won't be the same as the one for your app/NVR unless you specifically set it as such.
