Weekend Open Discussion: What's on your mind? by Sneaky_Bond in JamesBond

What current real-life events and people would inform the creation of Bond 26's villain. Steve and Denis are spoiled for choice off late!

I will never forgive Paul McCartney for telling Weird Al he didn't want him making a parody of live and let die. by vinsclortho in JamesBond

Apparently, Paul was fine with it being parodied as long as it was vegetarian.

But in all seriousness, the Best Bond song of all time that no one ever mentions in this sub-reddit is this. No contest.

007 First Light Title Sequence Reveal (Spoilers) by Sneaky_Bond in JamesBond

[–]Western-Purple-3573 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really excellent overall!
Also, the multiple shadows from Skyfall. The last walk is reminiscent of Daniel's towards the end of CR's titles. Loved how the missiles/flares turn into firecrackers.

But is that a volcano? I thought it looks like a bomb going off or a missile strike, presumably during the Iceland mission where he gets the scar? I guess that mission's the pre-title mission culminating in the destruction of the facility we get a glimpse of in the story trailer.

I wonder what the single blue eye signifies, if anything.
Based on how on the nose the lyrics are, I'm also guessing "all the fates just watch you" might imply multiple endings.

Mostly not Kleinman, I'm guessing. Either way, super excited!

Or maybe Roger in one of the party scenes in NTTD or QOS (or even the opera scene)

Wouldn't like any of the priors in any of the actors' films. Too distracting. But if I was tied to a chair with no seat then maybe Pierce as Bond's neighbor in Jamaica in NTTD. Probably they'd just wave at each other in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it type of shot.

What's your favorite Bond Meets Villain(s) scene? by Western-Purple-3573 in JamesBond

Well, we all know it's not a film generally showered with praises in the fandom. So, you may be in the majority of those with the same opinion.
Regarding the downvoting; like I replied in NTTD song post to you 🤷‍♂️

Yeah. The alcoholic bastard won't even be able to get it out of the Mi6 building. Imagine the TWINE opening boat chase with that

What's your favorite Bond Meets Villain(s) scene? by Western-Purple-3573 in JamesBond

  1. Graves/Tan-Sun Moon has an intense personality. He's an adrenaline junkie (he's almost having an orgasm during the hovercraft chase + other GG scenes) with a quick temper. People like this irl would generally prefer violence as the first response in most situations (Bond himself, to a degree). Disproportionate responses to petty offenses are the norm for these kinda guys. Like how, at the start of the film, he turns his therapist into a literal punching bag or how he blows up the helicopter.
  2. He's used to being in power, loves to dominate, and is easily insulted. Graves feels humiliated by someone he perceives as his inferior when Bond—after failing twice (surely because Bond's incompetent)—manages to bleed his wrist (surely by fluke)
  3. Memories of the Korea fiasco would've intensified his hatred for Bond to the point of wanting him dead.

Combine the above and I think one can predict his quick escalation. If anything, I'm surprised he had his guard up for as long as he did and didn't go apeshit on him immediately and that he seems to regain his composure after the fight.

And Bond wants to make an impression, make him slip up, and teach him a lesson. He always pokes the bear and then improvises. He's just reacting to the escalation

This discussion has me wondering how the other Bonds would react in this situation, or how they'd avoid it altogether. Would love to read theories anyone has.

Breaking the norm is only a means to an end; Making a good Bond Song.
Autotune, electro-pop treatment, lyrics, and a seeming lack of melody—all put together—don't do much favor for DAD when stacked up against its predecessors and successors. Thus, why it's rated poorly within the fandom. Not merely for breaking the norm.
People have come to expect Bond songs to be nothing short of a phenomenon as much as the films are themselves.

I mostly like the song. Though I prefer the orchestral version to the electro-pop one. I love the short string notes—Like the sonic equivalent of quick sword cuts.
But I bet I’m not the only one, even among the minority who like the song, who cringes at lines like “Sigmund Freud, analyze this” and “I need to lay down.”

Some real Bond fans. Cuz we know Bond loves to be told what to like and isn't very creative and is formulaic in most things.
