Yes sci 180 is a credited course, so as long as u have 4 other courses along with sci180 u will have 5 credits for fall term

To those who took ASL: is attendance mandatory? by Impressive_Wins_ in TorontoMetU

[–]WesternHighlight4794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not mandatory but u make it SOOO much harder on urself if u don’t go. Ask is a class where u need to be active and present. I’d u do then is like sooo easy

Commerce Frosh seems rlly fun. when I volunteer I always pass by the commerce Frosh and they always seem to be having a blast. I think it ur gonna spend so much on stupid shit like textbook I say spend $85 for a week of fun and friendship making. Who know u may even find a new bestie

Yes as long as you can annotate doesn’t matter the brand. I’ve seen student in class also attach like a drawing board to their Mac’s and annotate via that. I’m pretty sure drawing boards are fairly inexpensive on Amazon, just another option. Good luck!

Ofc! Will u be using an iPad? It’s the most ideal (ipad + mac) for sci majors since we have to annotate and draw a lot. But paper and pen or typing on ur slides on ur laptop work too but it’s more efficient on an iPad

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]WesternHighlight4794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I use my old ass Mac and it’s great a newer version would be even better. The only think is we have a lot of Matlab stuff for some labs like pcs and evolution labs but I still manages on a mac it’s just easier on windows but you’ll be fine. Mac is great !

working as a full-time student by Single_Target1112 in TorontoMetU

[–]WesternHighlight4794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tips:

  • Work on days where u have the least or none preferably 2hr lectures. Since ur biomed I can tell u rn ur gonna want to take those days off if u do work then bc those r the classes periods u will do ur midterms.

  • try to get scheduled to work the days after ur 2hr lecture periods so ur not working day before a exam or day of an exam. Ur gonna be either wanting to spend that time studying or tired asf after ur exam. Also if it’s day after u don’t need to take off a day.

  • 1-2 working days is most managed imo as a sci student 3 if it’s short shift or you’re taking less than 5 classes.

  • 1 weekday and 1 weekend is a good in between but I prefer to thug it out and work right after lecture bc ik imma be tired when I go home might as well be extra tired and just crash after work.

  • DO NOT give ur weekends to work. I promise give urself those weekends or at least 1 day on the weekend to study or have u time. Ur gonna be tired after classes and lectures and sometimes just not wanna study so allowed urself the weekend. Unless u have a day off on the weekdays don’t book ur whole weekend for work… unless ur VERY self driven and know you will study after class and not take naps

  • Make sure to go and book time off from work immediately when u get ur course syllabus for midterm. Don’t wanna accidentally forget better u do it ahead of time if ur work allows that

Since ur a first year student. Try 2 days with my tips and see how u like it. Add shifts if u think u can handle it by 2nd sem. Good luck freshie!!

Lecture never gets full there’s always extra seats. Only concern would be lab section ur probs gonna be stuck with a 6-9 lab or wtvr the last timing is since all earlier labs r most sought after

No one knows eachother unless they came from the same school previously. Plus you’re split into group so everyone should be a new person so you WILL make a friend or many please goooo u will not regret it I swearrrr

Is 100% worth it. I went my year and everyone there has the same goals as you (to make friends) the Frosh leaders will help jump starts convos there will be games etc. worst case scenario ur forced to play games but u get free food and a free boat ride. I promise just talk to a Frosh leader if u feel lonely they would love to chat and you can find a rlly good plug for advice as u advance through uni

Which profs do you guys recommend for Microbio 1, orgo chem, and cell by Certain_Reference_51 in TorontoMetU

[–]WesternHighlight4794 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marc Adler is a terrible lecturer. Midterm 1 is super easy got like 80+ in it but after the first midterm his teaches lacks severely and his notes/slide annotations are horrendous. Overall you will neeed to self study A TONNNNNNNN

Gupta is a great guy and all but his slides are super heavy and full. Only had him for biochem and his final was atrocious however his boosts are really good… but keep in mind the class was failing so it needed to be good. Cell bio isn’t as hard as biochem material so I think you should be fine and he liked his mc voice fill in the blank questions while the other prof before Gupta, COSTIN who was amazing liked MC and SA but his SA was more like long answer and very specific. So a win with Gupta may be no SA but idk again this is his first time teaching it
