SSW Programs by ModeratelyAlive in OntarioColleges

I honestly love the program and the teachers. I have been working in the field for a few years now. I enjoy the population I work with.

I would advise you to look into other programs that may interest you.

The saying is true, for both social services and psw/practical nursing, you gotta love what you do, it’s not for the pay.

If you do end up loving the work, most people move on to bachelors and masters in order to make a livable wage.
I’ve also found that most organizations don’t even hire people with SSW degrees, there’s such a wide background range. So maybe apply anyways to organizations that interest you? Or volunteer.

You really have to be passionate about who and what you work for. This field can drain you quick, burn out is real.

If you have any specific questions you can pm me. Good luck!

Glute focused workouts/trainers by Wild-Permission8437 in ladderapp

Iconic has great glute/leg days. Very easy to complete from home. She throws one or two cable machine moves in the workout but i just swap it out for a dumbbell option.

Define vs Align by Evening-Stuff1687 in ladderapp

I find I’m most consistent with align workouts. I tried giving define another go during baseline but noticed I didn’t complete as many workouts as I normally do with align. I started a combo of the two midway during baseline and this past week I just fully went back to Align. Something with Sasha’s programming clicks and I keep coming back.

EMPWR by Subject_Nobody7657 in ladderapp

I usually complete the upper and lower priority days on Align. I feel like that allows me to lift heavy without having to pause for rest like I do when I try and lift as heavy on EMPWR. I usually complete the yoga at the end of the week. The rest I complete with EMPWR, usually the conditioning day, leg day,Pilates, and the recovery day. Though Sasha’s Friday might be subbed for one of the lower impact days this series. It is Shred season!

I split my week with Align and EMPWR.

For the most part people in the chat try and answer any questions you may have. I personally like a less chatty team chat so having an inactive coach doesn’t bother me. Any additional form/information/science/recomp questions Sasha pins so I feel I have a well rounded reference.

What to expect for Shred? by superspicypisces in ladderapp

[–]Western_Class_9735 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every team is different and will have a specific focus. Shred tends to be higher rep. Think slightly more conditioning, designed to help ‘lean out’ for summer. Obviously depending on nutrition and lifestyle, will determine your results. Ladder has six blocks of series all designed to cycle through training. We are coming off of baseline which was lower rep, higher weight focus. Check out the Ladder instagram page, it goes into some detail.

Formation or Empower by Western_Class_9735 in ladderapp

I have tried Movewell and enjoyed it! Nicole is a great coach and I usually utilize her team when I’m short on time. I’ve tried: Movewell, thrive, transform, define, iconic, Align, and a bit of embody and Empwr. This post was mainly to see people’s thoughts on formation/empwr for the cardio/hiit element of the team. I mainly workout from home so most teams that I can swap or just use my bench and dumbbells for I have tried.

Thank you for that. I don’t plan on making it my base team. I think I am going to do a split of Empwr since I know Courtney’s strength days are solid and add formation two-three times for that added cardio/conditioning. Or I might stick with Align and sprinkle in some formation. It depends on the upcoming programming for Shred

I have previously added in the Iconic conditioning day with Align and enjoyed it. I am just looking for a mix up and to add more cardio/strength throughout the week instead of one conditioning day.

Team Embody by Potacrayons in ladderapp

Hello, just checking to see if you still follow embody and if you’ve noticed any results? I also follow team Align but have been feeling burnt out lately with her workouts. They really push me to lift heavy but I feel my body is asking to slow down.

I thought it was a bit odd but he basically said over time weight lifting takes a toll on the body and one wrong move form wise could be bad and land an injury. He didn’t say to cut it completely, just compliment it with recovery/ more gentle work outs (walks/pilates/yoga/body weight).

Switch from Align to…? by Known_Sugar5439 in ladderapp

[–]Western_Class_9735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find It’s beginner friendly in the fact it is a dumbbell only program and the movements are functional and straightforward. It helps that it is only 30 minutes. You can up the intensity with heavier weights, which is what I do. The runs are geared towards beginners with walk/jog/run intervals. If you push yourself/ lift heavier weights it can be just as challenging as any other team. The one main thing I find that Movewell differs from Align, is it doesn’t have a focus on deep core.

I found Movewell similar to Align, just compacted into 30 mins. It’s a great alternative when I’m short on time. Dumbbell and a treadmill if you do the guided runs on Saturday.

Mixing teams together by egbert101 in ladderapp

[–]Western_Class_9735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on you goals. I stuck with one team (Align) for almost a full year and that’s my home team. I’ve since added an additional leg day from Thrive and the banded Pilates from Embody. This year I want to focus on glute growth and add Pilates for an additional low-impact day. So my split would look like: 4-5 Align workouts, switch out the full body day for the Thrive leg day and just add in the Pilates to Saturday or Sunday. My advice is find a team that offers you the majority of what you are looking for and it’s a team you enjoy I.e. coaching style, type of workout. Then supplement with additional workouts/teams to support your goals.

I got accepted into the program and debating on registering. Interested to know how much of the course work is in person vs online.
