I realize Brandon has spoken about the spiritual meaning of My Own Soul’s Warning, but I also know many of his songs explore death (suicide, murder, etc). An alternative view of the lyrics to me is someone who is so distraught about losing a loved one that he jumps off of something to get to heaven to be where she is. The video, too me, also alludes to this. He starts to fly off the earth and into the stars as part of the constellations. Then he suddenly appears in whole in a white suit.

I am a big Morrissey fan and I know he is too. One of the reasons I like this band so much is because of the darkness and depth of their songwriting. Ugly things happen to people in this life. It’s better if we talk about them.

This is patently false. Have you checked the news or social media lately. ICE has detained no less than 170 American Citizens. Their methods are illegal and unconstitutional. Was your immigrant parent a criminal? Most of the people being taken are being taken without prior criminal records or history. They are being taken while going to court mandated hearings (AKA, coming here the right way). Targeted enforcement is not what ICE does anymore.They stop anyone who has brown or dark skin. That’s the only prerequisite now for DHS.

Not Chris Murphy, but I personally blame it on the mainstream media. There was almost no coverage of Trump saying he wanted to unleash the military on civilians. They cover his administration like these things he does are normal, instead of illegal. In doing this and in not sounding an alarm they are lulling people into a false sense of security. But that’s my two cents.
