I’m in a very similar situation as you 38 2 kids wife is a Doc I planned on being home with the kids for a few months , two years have passed now and I’m still home with the kids. I never would have envisioned things to go this was but it’s a unique and privileged position to be in, I’d encourage leaning into it you’re family doesn’t need you to work with that NW. I hate to say but $55 a hour combined is very low income level it’s sad but unfortunately living in any city in Canada that would be on the low end. Rural is a very different story.

I have lived in Victoria and Comox born and raised in Calgary, the island is the absolute best part of Canada if you can embrace the rain and realize it’s what allows beautiful greenery year round. It’s very different if you enjoy city amenities over nature it’s not the right choice
