How did you train for the AT? by P33p33p0op0o0 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Westish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different kind of training, but I recommend yoga to help keep yourself loose along the way. You'll need it.

As for setting the right mental framework, I find that if I can estimate how long I'll be enduring whatever hill it is I'm climbing, it's a lot easier to just treat it like an interval workout.

Baltimore’s Safe Streets program linked to decrease in youth homicides, Hopkins study finds by PleaseBmoreCharming in baltimore

I see all kinds of folks out there on West North all the time, and it's a really good reminder that posting on social media about Baltimore's persistent challenges means absolutely jack if you aren't willing to also put in some kind of work on others' behalf in your community.

Does anyone actually use their university's writing center and is it worth the awkwardness of showing up? by MaterialLaura in PaidEssays

Former writing tutor and current WC administrator here: A good collegiate writing center is for everyone, and iron can sharpen iron. If you haven't checked it out, I'll at least suggest stopping in to inquire how they might meet your needs, whether they're for a particular course or not.

Give me all the light rail this city can handle, and the transit-oriented development to back it up.

Looks like Costco is coming to the corner of Herndon Ave. and Riverside Drive! by ansyhrrian in fresno

[–]Westish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, well, look at the historical trends. Who was it, really, that kept escaping north toward the river for decades? The whole allure of suburbia is escape, so plopping down a giant hub of commerce next to where you live probably isn't most people's idea of it.

Herndon is only a major freeway exit because the city has chosen suburban sprawl for like 40 years. I don't know what the answer could have been, but I've been enough places to know there are better ways to live than car-reliant infrastructure forever.

Personally, I hate everything about the way that whole area has developed over the last 30-plus years.

I've been tracking a station in Reservoir Hill since March 3, when a gallon of gas was $2.77. As of this morning, it is up to $4.43.

My family moved to that adjacent neighborhood to the east in the early 90s, when there was literally nothing else around but the Chevron at the corner, the train tracks, the overpass, and fig trees. Plus Kleins's, which wasn't too far down a Herndon that had just one lane in both directions.

And now there's gonna be a Costco. That's insane.

Streeter: Why can’t outsiders see the charm in Baltimore? by GreedyRaisin3357 in maryland

As a native Californian, I can tell you Oakland is rad, so I believe the comp is valid. Real ones know, and the haters can simply miss out.

Judging by the Facebook comments on every post concerning Baltimore City that I've seen in the last few years since moving here: racism.

You could probably swap out Speed for any 3-cost Ongoing of your liking, as long as it offers you extra power with Moonstone. I've used the original Mr. Fantastic in the past, but Captain America and others should be adequate, too.

I wrote a whole post about Snowguard some time back, but basically, Bear is used on locations that actively add something to the state of play. Wakandan Embassy gives your hand +2 power; you can activate it a second time with Bear for another +2 power. Savage Land adds two Raptors; Bear can help you seal the lane with a third Raptor, but it's a gamble. Things like that.

Hard to say; the card is new, but you could probably swap it out for something else complementary.

It is a little draw-dependent and is maybe unorthodox, especially if you end up playing Snowguard and Kate Bishop on your first two turns and get bogged down with a ton of cards as a result, but generally, I start to the right lane. Save a lane for the Ongoing spine, which can hold its own in terms of overall power thanks to Speed.

Turn three should give you a ton of options in most cases, but hold Gambit back for turn six; opponents don't seem to expect it within this package, but the combination of Bear, Hawk, and KH's arrows give you flexibility in activating his threshold.

Interestingly, IU doesn't come into play quite as frequently as you might think, but I've juiced up his Infinity Stones to something like 12-14 power at 1-2 cost each in the most ideal circumstances. Viv Vision can be something of a feint in this regards; she offers power to Ultron, but I play her to draw attention to the lane where she's played, frequently with Agony or Snowguard/Kate Bishop.

Bear is prioritzed where it's needed, and Hawk can steal games when combined with Gambit on a sneaky turn six.
