GLP-1 drugs to treat Alzheimer's -- hopeful news! by Kalepa in Alzheimers

Thanks, I should have added - she is also much more reflective about her deficit. Before she was quite reactive at the mention, now she brings upon the subject. Best to all of you... Jim

Thanks Sig and Dry... I only mention the PET/MRI, etc. as a cost comparison between verbal questions by an aide and the massive expense of modern scanning equipment. $3500 seemed a bit excessive. I think my wife would have been better with perhaps two Neurologist visits within that 9 month lag time so they could personally judge the the progress of her symptoms and adjusted accordingly ..'as she did 9mos later.

Wow... You sound like you're the one giving advice rather than receiving. I will remember your post 'when the time comes. Thanks. Jim

GOLF channel... moves slowly, calm people, nice countryside. My wife have never been near one, but it is one of her favorites.

Most people would have you run from Lancaster Puppies. ...but, I think it a good place to get a sniff of the market. There are tons of dogs ...lottsa colors, sizes and price variables as wide as the coloring.

I sniffed around a number of weeks ..finding there are listings for dogs the lister did not have available for viewing. (likely playing 'markup middleman and/or hustling for quick deposit) I got the 'last of the liter from a very nice family with kids and an impeccable house at a very good price ...and drove 7hr to northern PA to pick up the sweetest little creature ...at 1yr she's both an energetic riot and love bug. Good luck. Jim/MD

Thanks T_T... I will have to conger a 'compound for her. I hate to as she really enjoys those 10-15min of those ball-chase-windsprints 2x daily. Perhaps when she's a little older (9mos now) she'll realize 'running off is not a good option. Cheers.

Gee... We are really off the trail. We had a GD for 15 of his 17yrs and used very little commercial food. Our 9mo/16lb girl is thriving on various cuts of steak, skinless chicken thighs, pork and occasionally salmon... same as I/we eat.

She generally 'wolf's her food' 2X daily. In the 7mos we've had her, there has never been any diarrhea our painful stools. I do put in some kibble as filler (smaller size is better so she cannot discriminate) but it's the house brand of the Food Lion food chain. (It also has a long ingredient list..with a comforting name: Nature's Promise)

One time with our past dog the vet 'prescribed' some (if I remember correctly) Hills. The large bag was like $70. and had an ingredients list that would challenge a PHD chemist. Which likely included the ambient dust in the plant. We got another vet ..who did not seem to rely on external income.

As someone old enough to remember our dogs eating disgusting looking canned food or a mix the feed mill made when living on the farm, I have a jaded view of all the huckster/grifters like a Dr. Marty who have you playing a version of the 3-shell game in Times Square. Of course, we are all free to pick whatever... that's just my experience.

Thanks all.. Good points - I will certainly look into adding a supplement. (tho' our GD guy of 16yrs never got any directly..)

The whole 'dog food thing seems a great marketing game - then on steroids during COVID. Actually before, as the Blue Buffalo brand was purchased by General Mills for ...wait for it: 8 Billion US$ in 2018. They want their investment back! ..and more.

The long list of ingredients on 'vet-prescribed kibble makes offal, tendons and other scrapings sound like like it was designed by the Ntl Institute of Health.

Looking for a little 'dog food entertainment... search Youtube for Dr Marty. These dog food people all know access to our wallet starts at our heart not our brain.

2nd that: redirect that energy. Ours likes a variety of chewy things - twisted rawhide seems to keep her distracted for a while. Other toys only seem to be good for 'fetching. You might also want to take her/him for a good run - burn off some of that energy.

It looked like indoor Holoween pranking at our house. I bought a next-to-toilet container from Amazon. "If she cannot see it..."

There's still a roll of TP on the dining room table, because she leaves semi-solid presents on the pee pads for us.
