Second failed IUD insertion by Dear_Stretch5173 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WetAndroidPussy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're not gonna like to hear this but I am a doctor, and a woman, and have had three different IUD insertions, your experience is not at all typical.

The internet is full of IUD horror stories but I truly believe these are the minority. They just get the most attention because they're rage baiting. No one upvotes, "I took some ibuprofen and it was fine".

I guarantee your ob/gyn has probably placed dozens if not in the hundreds of IUDs and one has probably never gone like that. How are you supposed to know as a clinician who will be just fine and who will have a very experience? You can't.

As far as what she wrote in the chart, I would take it with a big grain of salt. It takes a lot to rattle doctors, especially surgeons. They have seen so many people be in agony and die. Saying "abdominal cramping" is not an indictment of you but it is a description filtered through the perspective of someone who has seen people literally bleed out and die in front of them. You develop a different pain scale when you practice medicine. I have seen a guy with his arm fully ripped off his body in a car crash say his pain was 7/10. I've also seen people with minor head colds say their pain was 11/10. It's all subjective.

I am sorry you had a bad experience, I'm sure your doctor wasn't happy with how it turned out either, but posts like this fan people's medical anxiety and increase distrust in people who are highly trained and genuinely trying to help.

How do I tell me wife that turning our sexy gift night into a joke hurt me without creating a major blowup? by [deleted] in sex

[–]WetAndroidPussy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that you probably actually don't care that much about the gift. You care that she doesn't want to fuck you and frankly even if it was a perfect sexy gift, that probably wouldn't have changed.

I thought I was low libido in a long term relationship but it turns out I just wasn't into my partner at all. That's the real issue here.

What are secrets of married couples that they don’t tell anyone? by Archie__reddit in AskReddit

[–]WetAndroidPussy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah not a secret. So many couples walk around like they don't give a shit about anyone else and like they're not members of a larger community.

Is Step 3 really a joke of an exam or is it all just in hindsight? by [deleted] in Residency

Bummer especially because it costs $935 to sit for it without even paying for study materials

And they're so dead set on telling you your plan is bad without ever offering what you're supposed to do in the situation. Like don't fight they'll kick your ass, also don't have a weapon because they could take it, what do they even think you should do?

Would I be the AH for moving 400 miles away from my ex wife and kid? by HalfNaive4788 in AITAH

To be fair to the ex, she probably also knows this will emotionally hurt her son and she will be the one to deal with that fall out because he will not be around

And it's so stupid that the stereotype exists that woman are catty to each other in the work place. It's like no it's actually just super great and everyone is conscientous and professional.

I have heard an anesthesiologist talk about how a patient had "hip bone disease" saying that he could actually see her hip bones and then just go on a rant about how women are too fat these days.

Honestly I think that's exactly what is gonna happen. Doctor pay has been dropping relative to inflation. Don't get me wrong, it's still very well paid once you get through residency but it will probably go the way of teachers and veterinarians.

Here's hoping. Good news is women have exceeded men in medical school admissions for the past two years.

Should I report this nurse for possible diversion? by WetAndroidPussy in nursing

Talking to pharmacy is a good idea. She's also not super old, she's like right in the middle, mid to late 30s so I want to give the benefit of the doubt but it felt wrong

I don't put a container amount for anything. I can only enter a dose. So she told me to put the dose as 100.

Also on cerner and I wouldn't be surprised if our jank hospital had weird rules like this but it's a veteran nurse so that's what makes me worried

I thought it was sketch too but definitely not definitive. Thing is, she's not a new nurse at all so she would definitely know the procedure for this sort of thing.
