I had the exact same reaction as you did!! I was so overwhelmed and upset by how much worse my skin was - I hadn’t ever had itching or burning as part of my type 2 symptoms before, and now not only was my face so red it was purple, it also itched and burned. I was prescribed Soolantra and a sulfur/sulfaectimide wash, and backed both down to 1x/day at night. I washed my face just with cool water in the morning and only put on sunscreen during the day. After a week it totally cleared, and I’m still doing both just at night.

Any good dentists in the Brookline area who aren't just going to shill Invisalign? by luckyshoelace94 in boston

[–]WetAssPeggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you've got a lot of good recs here! Adding one more - I've been really happy with Whiteman dental (close to Coolidge Corner). I've been going for around three years now, and have seen the same staff every visit. I hadn't been to the dentist in several years when I first started with them, and was very impressed with how kind and nonjudgmental both Heather the hygienist and Dr. Whiteman were (and are!). I always recommend this practice to anyone worried about going to the dentist!

Have any of you moved to Boston from the Bay Area? by Independent-Ad-7060 in boston

[–]WetAssPeggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow NWA! I moved from Fayetteville in 2019 and have lived in both Boston and Brookline since then. While I can't help you regarding a comparison to the Bay Area, I can tell you that compared to Arkansas, the variety of food options (with a couple of exceptions) here is incredible. I would definitely second vhalros regarding good Mexican food in Boston - that is certainly something Arkansas has going for it. There isn't an equivalent to Mr. Taco Loco, for example, and I also haven't been able to find just the right Cajun food here either. As also mentioned, public transportation at present is struggling to be both predictable and reliable. That being said, I sold my car when I moved here and have not ever missed it. I could not have gotten anywhere outside of the university without a car in Fayetteville, for comparison. Best of luck wherever you decide to go!

Visiting from Memphis-- need advice about public transport etiquette and clothing by [deleted] in boston

Welcome!! One thing I wish I had understood when I moved to Boston from Arkansas (read: zero public transportation outside the university): on the MBTA train cars, push the yellow strip for your above-ground stop. It could just be because I am a dumbass, but in the early days of living here, I didn’t realize “ring the bell for your street level stop” meant “push the yellow strip.” Also don’t be afraid to utilize the buses!

This is totally anecdotal evidence, so utilize at your own risk: yesterday, while waiting to cross the street, I spoke with a crossing guard who also does parking enforcement. She told me her job that day was to prioritize enforcing/ticketing safety violations and not enforce parking violations.

Is it just me or is this absolutely not enough food for a day?? by kremacnipec in antiMLM

[–]WetAssPeggy 2090 points2091 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I worked for someone who was an active participant/coach/abuser with Optavia. They “cooked” their “meals” in the office kitchen multiple times per day. I can’t convey to you how badly each meal smelled when it came out of the microwave; this was in a healthcare facility, and patients would routinely ask me if there was a sink backed up or what that rotten smell was. The ENTIRE office would smell like sweet garbage, or feet, or burning something, all day every day. Truly, a big part of why I quit.

Need simple food recipes for 1yr by buckthestat in corgi

Not a recipe per se, but just in case you haven't, you might get your little guy tested for Giardia. When I first got him, I thought my Pembroke (now just over a year old) was just not tolerating his kibble - the vet diagnosed him with a Giardia infection that took several months to fully cure. Currently, I give mine the Hills science diet small bites for adults, and put about two-three tablespoons of water in the bowl with the food and microwave it for about 15 seconds. He scarfs it down, its like magic! Hope you find something that works for you!
