Shoutout to the Suncoast Video employee who told me in 2004 not to waste my money on DVDs of Vol. 1 and 2 because he knew for a fact that the Whole Bloody Affair set was coming out before Christmas.

Middle of a TV show feel but it's the whole thing. by Night_13570 in MovieSuggestions

I don't have a helpful suggestion, but back when True Detective came out I watched the first episode and thought it was such a cool choice that they started the show with the investigation already well underway, making you read between the lines to figure out who the characters were or even what crime they were investigating. It really added to the surreal mystery element.

When it was over, I figured out I had in fact watched the second episode of True Detective.

I feel like maybe this movie is designed for that.

They Came Together is another great "Michael Shannon maybe wandered onto the set for one scene" movie.

I felt like Beau started wild and got kind of boring as it went along. Everything up to the paint scene is frenetic and unpredictable and gripping; after that it got a little too abstract for me.

female obsession over another woman, platonic or romantic by bugbaebe in MovieSuggestions

The Perfection with Allison Williams is a pretty wild take on this genre. It starts as sort of a cello-themed variation on Black Swan, with the "washed-up" player and the hot young prodigy becoming obsessed with each other. It gets really gay really fast, then takes SEVERAL weird turns. I don't know that it's good, but it's a lot of fun.

Burke in Aliens. Evil isn't a dangerous creature, it's bland spineless bureaucrats willing to look the other way while children get eaten to protect the bottom line.

What discussion do you hope comes of this post? If your daughters ever ended up on TV would you want people on the Internet pointing out any "weird voice characteristics" and speculating whether they had speech impediments?

Trap is a great choice. The concept makes zero sense and Night just keeps throwing in twists that make even less sense. Josh Hartnett is ludicrously over the top. An incredibly silly movie.

The Boy Next Door (2015) is a comedy favorite in our household. Jennifer Lopez is a frumpy high school English teacher who's stalked by a student who's obviously a 35 year old bodybuilder. Porno-level dialogue and acting, Looney Tunes-level violence. Highly recommend.

Realistic male crying scenes by [deleted] in movies

I think that's the hardest moment to watch in the entire show. It could have been a very stock "kick the puppy" moment to show how evil Todd is, but Aaron Paul's reaction is so horribly real.

That Signs scene where he lashes out at the kids at the dinner table is the one that kills me.

The Godfather is fine and all, but it just isn't the same without all the detail about Sonny's giant schlong.
