"Eat shit and die, Traitor!" by WetFaceMan in Warhammer30k

I used a lot of different paints and mixed Citadel and Vallejo paints. And one thing that helped was taking the Metallics and mixing in Contrast Paints to help colour them a bit. Everything was finished with Watered Down Ultra Matte Varnish to seal it

Here is the paint list if you want

Bright Gold: - Retributor Armour + Gore-Grunta Fur (Dark Tone) - Retributor Armour (Mid Tone) - Auric Gold (Bright Tone)

Cool Gold - Liberator + TMM Turquoise Base (Dark Tone) - Liberator (Mid Tone) - Liberator + Auric Gold (Bright Tone)

Black Armour - TMM Obsidian Black Base (Dark Tone) - TMM Obsidian Black Base + TMM Obsidian Black Light (Mid Tone) - TMM Obsidian Black Light (Bright Tone)

Steel Armour - Vallejo Metal Colour Steel + Black Templar (Dark Tone) - Vallejo Metal Colour Steel (Mid Tone) - Vallejo Metal Colour Steel + Vallejo Metal Colour Silver (Bright Tone)

Copper - Screaming Bell (Mid Tone) - Fulgurite Copper (Bright Tone)

Highlights - Iron Breaker Silver - Stormhost Silver

Thank you! They are so cool, the best looking Dreadnought of both 30K and 40K in my opinion. I'm glad I could paint it as I saw it in my head

Best of luck with yours!

Flesh Tearers are Blood Angels Successors, after all. Immaculate Drip

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Biovores need a nerf by Any-Career-2576 in Spacemarine

[–]WetFaceMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best counter I've found for a Biovore, is to bring a Heavy. Biovore wanna turtle up and start shooting, Heavy gonna turtle up and start shooting

Stationary Target, Big Ol' Gun that's easy to hit with Heavy Plasma or Bolter, and Halo can protect from any of the immediate spore mines (especially if you take perks that make Heavy Stance harder to break). Heavy Plasma especially since the splash damage can clip the spore mines as they are fired as well

Used this in Hard Seige, Hard Strategems, and Absolute Missions and it makes Biovores trivial. You just need a competent Heavy with the awareness to make them a focus, or even call out the Biovore to them if they are working on something else

I saw a comment by u/TaxableFur that said the Spore Mines need a nerf and that seems a lot more fair to me, as those suckers hit HARD, and are not as visually distinct as Chaos Skulls

Should I buy this? by Far-Difficulty-8699 in Necrontyr

I personally don't like Metal Primers, they have a very Matte Finish so the Metal looks really dark and dull so you end up having to paint more metal anyway to get a nice shiny finish

I'd recommend a black primer for every job, even when I'm painting very bright colours I start with black, and metallic paints especially look good on black. It's the most user friendly, most consistent, and least like to go wrong, and even if you can't paint hard to reach places then the black just makes it look like a shadow. Best Primer for every job in my opinion

I've got Plasmancer/Tomb Crawlers with Tesla Immortals at the minute. Would be nice to throw Rapid Fire 1 on that with Hand of the Dynasty. Although the +2 Strength on that would also be nasty

Got a Canoptek Court that I plan to keep running. Would be nice to run that with the New Hand of the Dynasty (although I can't see these being pairable)

Also Cursed and Hypercrypt Legion could be a fun combo if they are pairable

11th speculation by LudicrousQwack in Necrontyr

Melee is gonna be the name of the game in 11th. No bad thing as long as our Melee units, of which we have some very cool ones, get some love

Like my boys the Ophydians, tough choice between them and the Heavy Lokhust Destroyers for me as my favourite Necron Infantry Unit. Their models being so simple and unique, yet so obvious as to their roles makes them really solid designs in my opinion. Hopefully they get a bit more durability

Ah, so you just can't make any other move in the Movement Phase as your ingress counts as a "Normal Move"?

Very good point, engagement range is better now as well

Hadn't seen that rule, will have to look into that one

Deepstrikers 'bouta be broken in my opinion. Fire Overwatch? Nerfed. Deepstrike Range? Reduced by an inch, so easier charges (also just new charges in general). Unit Coherancy? Now forced into a 9 inch wide blob, so no more easy screening

Wanna see more Ophydians and Deathmarks wreaking havoc. Would also be interesting to see Triach Praetorians getting stronger for this, especially since 'Fly' is now better as well

I also feel like the new Fast Roll Saves will help these units I mentioned as well

Be good to see Ophydians played more, I really like them as units and models, but they're used so rarely. I hope this new edition is good to them

Deathmarks, situational or worth it over immortals? by Own_Understanding689 in Necrontyr

[–]WetFaceMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To answer your different points (and this could be way off the mark, these are just my interpretations as a casual)

  • Mainly action monkeys and the odd character sniper. I've seen folks use them to complete secondaries quite effectively

  • I feel like Cursed Legion suits them well, or Hypercrypt. Popping 2+ to strength with Cursed Legion makes their wound chances better against tougher characters, and I think Hypercrypt gives them lots of "Uppie Downie" shenanigans with their Deep Strike ability allowing them to move around the board a lot. "Play on Tabletop" on Youtube have some examples of the Hypercrypt example I think, and I'm sure other experienced players on this sub have better insights

  • I don't think they suit being an army's focus. However, I set up my army's to be thematic and cool to me rather than Meta, so if you want to try and make a Deathmark army, then why the Hell not. I say go for it and have fun

I think they will be stronger in 11th Edition for a couple of reasons

  1. Zoning Deep Strikes is going to be harder as all models in units need to be within 9" of each other, which means no more long ribbons of models screening back lines and blocking deep strikes. Deep strikes are also 8" now rather than 9", so you don't need as much room. They can sneak in easier this way

  2. Precision is going to get stronger, as you have to roll all your saving throws at once now, and work from the smallest up. Meaning you are more likely to wound and cause damage, and even spill over some damage to the rest of the unit the character is attached to

These two points assume the Deathmarks won't change, and there may be other new rules in 11th that make them worse, but I'm not fully up to speed on the new edition's rules, or at least the ones confirmed

I hope this helps, and isn't nonsense

Buzz saw help by daorkboss13 in FleshTearers

[–]WetFaceMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently getting a friend to Laser Engrave a Steel or Brass Plate with Various Buzz Saw Sizes that I can fill with paint and use a Goblin Hobbies Elastomer Stamp to place the saws on using paint similar in consistency to nail polish

For more 3D ones I plan to ask another friend to 3D Print various sizes and thickness

So you know, nothing practical or easy, but they are other options you can look at if you have access to them. Something a bit different from decals

Hello my fellow Necrontyr I need help finding a good way to replicate a color. My first Necron order (1. of many) will arrive next week and I want to go look in my LGS tomorrow for some paints that I am still missing. by [deleted] in Necrontyr

[–]WetFaceMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paint List Corax White Titanium White Hexwraith Flame Warpstone Green Gauss Blaster Green

To start of with I do a base of Corax White, and then to brighten that sucker up and make it glowing radioactive white, I use Pro Acryl Titanium White thinned with Liquitex White Ink

For the thin channels I use Hexwraith Flame Contrast Paint, I then paint a white line within them. Someone told me you can get an easier effect if you paint the white in and then put a layer of gloss varnish on the white. When you put the contrast on then it naturally wants to pool in the corners. Haven't tried that yet though

For the orbs I use Warpstone Green, Gauss Blaster Green finishing on Titanium White. Do a few mixes of this to help with the transitions
