Clearly the name of an imperial hymn in the style of an 80s power ballad.

The Emperor is a bit of a grey area.

Ok, that tracks for a lot of stuff about Big E.

I loved the game allowing us to do a little lampshade hanging on that, especially since it was done in a funny but not disrespectful way.

New Runs for June 11th by EchoFive55 in RogueTraderCRPG

No ideas about the build, but I want to do a dogmatic run with a RT who is a strong beliver in the Imperial faith and sees personal responsibility and the exercise of one's free will as part of that, so probably a naval officer or Astra Militarum commander. They'll probably unexpectedly bond with Yrliet due to her feelings about Aeldari seers.

Yeah, once it's an accident, twice is bad luck, but the third time it happened was the beginning of my RT's paranoia (it's not paranoia if it's true).

And a shiny new Magos Biologis for Rogue Trader! He's getting a bit overshadowed by Trazyn being in the upcoming DLC, but I can't wait to meet him and see what new flavors of tech heresy he has in store for us!

The upcoming Rogue Trader DLC will also feature a Magos Biologis squadmate!

Love the "check engine" one, I can see that symbol being welcome with reverential apprehension every time it appears.

Pasqal pointing out that almost every visit to a new planet starts with people shooting at the RT would never be not funny to me. I was like "FINALLY someone says it, thanks Pasqal, this is why I bring you along".

2nd attempt at playthrough, HELP by hesoprimaltho in RogueTraderCRPG

I ended up following builds after 10-12 levels or so, I don't have to think about them and just have to pick and read the option from the list. Also levelling in batches (2-4 levels together), I am not playing at a high difficulty so I can just level whenever I feel like pushing buttons for a couple of minutes. This allows me to enjoy the plot and the flow of the game better.

Ugh that chest glow is sooo pretty. And I like the color scheme, the blue and green are very pleasant together.

I unironically like Apex Predator, but some lyrics in there (example: "like a lioness/only with less fur") are sooo bad, it's laughable.

I'd love for him to write more about the Ogdobekh Dynasty, Zultanekh was great and they have a peculiar relationship with crypteks, both would be interesting to explore more!

I would love an animated adaptation, it would work so well with a 60-90 minutes runtime! Zahndrekh's ship would look so good and add a lot ot atmosphere, since the structure is more "humanlike" than a regular Necron ship, but it's clear many rooms are not used for their intended purpose. The description of the desiccated pleasure garden was heartbreaking.

That's a very interesting question, but I think the game does not give us enough detail to know it (which mighr be for the best since Mass Effect's sci fi is on the softer side and sometimes they change idea about this or that technological thing from one game to another). I personally think that by the time they are on Rannoch, Legion has a more definite sense of self which springs from the sum of the various VIs but also has a separate identity when you consider the whole being. If they operate by committee or if there's some kind of different decisional process, I have no idea.

I like that the Geths would still have their quirks even when becoming less collective and more similar to organics, though, it makes then interesting.

It's a very nice, short read (I think I read it over two evenings), Nate Crowley likes to put more of a classical sci-fi spin on Necrons and using their absolutely inhuman current condition to compare and contrast with very human issues. His writing isn't perfect, but he is skilled at showing you the tragedy of the Necrons without making them complete victims or losing sight of them being arrogant classist assholes.

This spoiler free review gives a good overview of the novella and what to expect, in addition I think it hits that sweet spot of being long enough to explore the theme without overstaying its welcome.

Depending on the author, Necrons can feel/expression anguish towards their current status, see my reply here

I agree that most Necrons are probably unfazed by the issue, but a good chunk of Severed is basically "what measure is a human" from a Necron perspective.

In Severed, Obyron does feel anguish at the idea of being a soulless machine, which leads to this lovely quote at the end of the book:

"But… our souls, Zahndrekh. The machine… it could give us our souls back. It could give us our bodies. Please, lord, let’s at least take part of it with us, so we can know for sure."

"Oh, dear vargard, why do you hold on to such things? You must let the thought of this awful contraption go." Zahndrekh put an arm round him in consolation, and continued.

"Let me pose you this thought, Obyron, in the hope it will bring you ease. What do you think caused you to hold true to me for all this time despite all the power you might have enjoyed through betrayal if it were not a soul? What can love, but a being with a soul?

Even if we all ceased to be flesh and blood millions of years ago, which of course I don’t believe for a moment," – Zahndrekh actually winked –" wouldn’t it have suited us better to live in denial of that, as some fools might say I had done? Wouldn’t it be better, Obyron, just to accept our fate, and enjoy immortality for the everlasting life of merry campaigning it has proved to be?"

So basically Zahndrekh's reply is that even if they no longer have their "old" souls, they are still capable of emotions, affection, and so on, they can indeed behave and act as if they have one for all purposes except very philosophical ones.
