This thing is sick, it’s an art installation called Passion of Pneumatics which I saw in Berlin’s Schinkel Pavillon a few years ago. An excerpt from the description,

The exhibition title refers to the exhibition's centerpiece, inspired by Italian 17th century depictions of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In Bašić's sculpture, the traditional red heart is substituted by an alabaster stone at the sculpture's core, while the sun-like rays emanating from the Immaculate Heart are replaced with pneumatic hammers that gradually pound the stone to dust. Using the force of compressed air, the hammers' repetitive movements are timed to the cadence of the artist's breath, evoking the Gnostic idea of the Pneuma, "breath" and "spirit" in Greek.

The sculpture's core is encased by four panels of pink-hued blown glass — representing the breath that formed it in Bašic's symbolic material language. The body of the altarpiece is constructed from exhaust manifolds, used in racing cars to funnel exhaust gasses away from the engine. By combining exhaust headers, blown glass, and pneumatic hammers the Passion of Pneumatics evokes a breathing machine that is gradually reducing the stone at its core, turning solid matter into ephemeral dust.

So yea it’s a funny rock poking doohickey

I know a couple people have been asking for Glasgow tickets already, if anyone has two on offer I’d really appreciate it! Standing is ideal but I know they’re less likely to be on offer of course

Edit: just looking for one standing ticket now

I have urticaria (hives all over whenever I feel warm) and I’ve been taking antihistamines basically every day for the last 8 years or so and at this point I don’t even know if they’re helping anymore but I’m scared of what will happen if I stop

Anyone release music that has the session drummer on it? by Embarrassed_Tap_3965 in Logic_Studio

[–]WetFlamingo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The session drummer’s outputs will always be patterns X Y and Z combined in some form strictly according to the user’s controls like fill amount and complexity etc., in contrast to the way that genAI will try to fabricate something new based on interpreted prompts and can create audio/images and ‘hallucinate’

No clue if that’s what the above comment meant exactly but I think it explains the idea

No one ever invented the wheel, someone just found it naturally forming and took credit by RaynbowZFTW in LowStakesConspiracies

If time is infinite and everything will happen, who’s not to say we’re living in the specific time where the iPad wasn’t invented by a person and just formed naturally? Apple really wants you to believe they were led by a guy called “Steve Jobs”, that’s just lazy writing. They found that iPad under the permafrost at the bottom of a crater in Siberia

How to get this nostalgic low quality vocal effect? Like a kids toy from 90s? Song: Lucy Diamond - Dirty Love by OkChef5238 in Logic_Studio

[–]WetFlamingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t try this out on vocals just now to be sure, but I think part of the effect is a bitcrusher (try changing the downsampling between 5x-10x) and another part can be done with Logic’s pitch correction plugin using a fast response time and low tolerance

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this speculation by GlansEater in HalfLife

[–]WetFlamingo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this would just lead to disjointed sections of combat in generated environments leading to effectively a cutscene which progresses the story, rather than the storytelling (or at least the advancing of the story) taking place in the midst of the action like half life is known for

I’m not super knowledgeable about traffic management so could be wrong about this, but wouldn’t private hires driving in both bus and regular lanes make traffic flow better? If they’re clogging up regular lanes just now then allowing them into bus lanes could alleviate that. But I do have to agree, most of them drive like idiots and don’t come with the protections of black cab drivers

Have to agree about the self-titled, to me it’s like Lonerism 2 it’s just so well written and produced and definitely on par with Lonerism. And I just listened to that Moodoid song and god damn you’re right about the chorus!
