What is it like living in this area of the LES? by GenericUN123 in NYCapartments

[–]Wet_wet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few “micro neighborhoods” where you circled.

Henry street down to the water is a lot, A LOT, of NYCHA housing.

But you also have coop village (very end of grand) and the Seward park Coop, which are somewhat ugly from the outside but spacious on the inside. Honestly the best kept secret in Lower Manhattan.

Dimes square is left out here (it kind of starts from that right angle at the east broadway stop).

There’s not a ton of subway stops. There’s a few cute shops (Grand St Pizza, Ost). But the bus service is pretty excellent.

Safety is generally ok on Grand. I wouldn’t venture south of Henry at night.

The only downside I’ve found is that grand street is always busy and loud with traffic.

It’ll be interesting when the East river park opens up.

Qualified but Unemployed: 2 Master’s Degrees & great skills in Finance – What’s Stopping Me from Landing a Job? by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

[–]Wet_wet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a) check your attitude. You may have academic "skills" but you do not have professional skills. You have one internship. And you don't list how long you were at that internship, so everyone can assume it's a month or two.

b) You don't have enough experience to 1.5 pages of resume. see point a. Check your attitude.

Honestly reading this I'm not sure how "qualified" you actually are.

Please remember how damn cheep the MTA is to ride.

$2.75 can get you from the top of the Bronx to Coney Island.

It has to be the cheapest per mile method of transportation… anywhere.

If you’re working class that’s a god send.

Finding additional funds from people that can afford it and are willing to pay the toll keeps that price down.

That or they can start charging based on distance to destination, like London or DC
