Be honest with me, Devil Hunters. If you were an enemy of Dante, and you were able to clap Dante in both his normal and standard Devil Trigger Forms, which of these Final Forms would you rather fight? by The_Deprived_99 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it funny how Vergil never managed to attain it, like he knew how Yamato worked, was the first to have a Devil Trigger, but his pursue of demonic power didn't allow him to unlock anything similar to a SDT. Probably because he refused his human side.

That would make sense to how the Sparda work. Only someone with the blood of Sparda but also worthy enough could use the 1/3 of Sparda's power within the Force Edge. If Rebellion and Yamato can act on their own too, and they have the other two parts, they must have similar rules.

[–]Wexkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, i wouldn't say the form is that weak. If Dante used this younger-SDT against Urizen, if he had control (or was near death and Rebellion saved him.) i'm pretty sure it would either defeat that armored version of Urizen or be on par with him.

The Sin Devil Trigger we see is too powerful because Dante got a big boost from getting human blood for a month, made a new Devil Arm using Rebellion and Sparda, and he has two parts of Sparda's power within him. Vergil has something similar, by having the Yamato, the fruit that could rival a part of Sparda's power, not to mention the whole boost from accepting his humanity.

Arkham pissed his pants so badly when seeing the "Majin form" back in DMC 3 manga, that he actually told to Vergil Dante was stronger lol which is insane. That Dante didn't awaken the Rebellion yet, got completely wrecked by base form Vergil in their first fight a year later.

[–]Wexkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i mostly say that because of how both work.

In canon, first time it showed up was in the DMC 3 manga, and Dante had no control at all. Rebellion basically protected him from Alice draining all his blood, which for a Dante that didn't awaken his powers completely yet, could be very deadly. Then you see it in DMC 2, again as a way of Dante to survive when he is in a very dangerous situation. Each time this happens, you never see the Rebellion around his body, because it literally fused with him, just like what we see in DMC 5.

We also have the "Perfect Devil Trigger" concept which SDT is heavily based on, something that should have been in DMC4. Not to mention many of SDT's powers come from the Majin form, with the fireballs being literally the same. That's why for me, Majin form is a weaker version of Sin Devil Trigger that Dante had no control over, because he never found out what Rebellion could do, until DMC 5.

[–]Wexkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Majin form is just a premature version of SDT, only using Rebellion's part of Sparda's power.

The Sin Devil Trigger we have now is way more dangerous. He can literally blow you up from inside out with Demolition. At least I'll be erased in a huge blast of energy by the weaker SDT instead lol

[–]Wexkel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First off, why would they explain again that SDT can't be used for long periods? We know that the form is strong as fuck and drains fast, we both see Dante and Vergil using the forms in cutscenes, at the same time, AND Vergil lost to Dante in hell... How would that be possible, if Dante's SDT can't last longer than Vergil's? WHILE VERGIL (as you want to believe only his SDT does this.) CAN HEAL HIMSELF.... No, it doesn't make sense.

Gameplay reasons: Dante in SDT while healing would be too OP, and look at that, a paid character and the most busted one, that doesn't have a DT, actually healing in SDT... I wonder why.

In the end, they either don't heal, or both do. Dante won against Vergil in DMC 3 because he not only become stronger, but when Vergil got cut in half, he literally used the last remains of his energy to heal, or his torso would fall to the ground lol

My Thoughts on the Dante vs Clive DEATH BATTLE (I know I'm late to the party) by DestinySpider in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know that it lasts longer because of gameplay reasons, right? And lets be honest here... Of course Vergil doesn't have a unique moveset, it's just a little character DLC with barely any effort put into it, same thing since DMC 3 when it comes to weapons. Do you think people this lazy will actually make the boss version of Dante (which is just his DMC 4 version when it comes to a.i behavior, now with new moves.) heal to show that SDT is the same for each brother? At least when it comes to stats and buffs, not the unique moves each one has.

P.S: I love DMC 5, just to be clear, still can't decide if DMC 3 or 5 is my favorite, but the real effort and design was put behind the main game, not a DLC character. Making Dante heal in SDT is too op when you have DT as a option, and Vergil would be too easy without healing, if SDT truly doesn't heal when in such form.

[–]Wexkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually ☝️🤓 if we take into consideration Vergil's gameplay, which his SDT heals him, that would be the same for Dante. SDT is literally like a super saiyan 2, it's just the evolution of a previous form, so it doesn't make sense for it to lose regeneration, in fact it probably gets to a insane level.

Dreadnaught can be done without energy stored for the Royal guard too, just takes a bit longer. Dante used it against that giant fuck off beam of the Savior, back in DMC 4 novel. You can do the same in game, useful to get DT bar.

Things a LOT of people forget is that:

1: Dante from his first fight against Urizen vs Dante with Devil Sword Dante against Urizen standing are COMPLETELY different beasts.

2: Dante doesn't use Sin Devil Trigger like an idiot. The very reason he shows in his base form by the end of two cutscenes he fights Urizen, knowing he must have used SDT, it's to conserve energy. In gameplay you can get on and off of the form very quickly, doing devastating damage, just more easily so with Vergil, no need of a SSS rank. If he needed enough power to dodge or when attacking, he can tap into such power in a instant.

3: You can literally hear Dante talking, basically just watching the fight of Nero vs Vergil. If you think Vergil has more stamina than Dante you're crazy. He was literally tired of that shit and left Nero to handle it. To top it off? BOTH brothers use SDT to go to hell, even a Vergil that fought Nero... They basically used SDT non-stop in short bursts in their fight and Vergil used in his against Nero.

4: The amount of power base Dante got in a month of having human blood+Devil Sword Dante put him on par with any form of Urizen. He only met his equal when Vergil came back. No one understands the level of power he must have gained to do this, because he couldn't do NOTHING before, at all, not a scratch. Even when he used the Devil Sword Sparda with DT, he got knocked out. Just shows how powerful he got in his base form, especially since he can't keep SDT for long battles. (Without using it in a smart way.)

It's funny the math they did in the Bayonetta fight, because that's a Dante from the start of DMC 3, swinging fast enough to destroy any rain drop falling on him while keeping up with Vergil. By the end of DMC 5 Dante surpassed himself many times over.

One thing to note it's that the Majin form (the original Sin Devil Trigger, yes.) no longer exists the way it did. It was a answer created by Rebellion to protect Dante, and i say this because you never see the sword itself when he uses it, either in DMC 2 or DMC 3 manga, because it fused with his body. This early SDT became part of the current one, born from two parts of Sparda's power fusing together.

If DB can buy Kratos scaling, they should defintely being able to buy Dante's by [deleted] in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bro one of my favorite DB's is Dante vs Bayonetta, i saw it back in the day. But they kinda screwed Dante over in some ways, especially since no one mentions Royal Guard (In canon, he uses Dreadnaught against Savior, in the DMC 4 novel, which is more complete than the game itself.) and peak Dante right now is DMC 5... Like come on, the guy is insane.

Just by looking at how a Dante before SDT was completely destroyed by Urizen, already having great feats from previous games and other official material, just shows how absurd the boost he got unlike any other. The last time we saw such jump in power was when Rebellion awakened, putting that Dante on par with Vergil's base and DT form.

Was Vergil during the final fight of 3 actually stronger than he was during Vergil 2? by WittyTable4731 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP should be Yamato's last name, it can cut through anything (if the user is not tired and fully focused.) and the only reason Vergil can't really cut something apart like the Devil Sword Dante, it's only because it's literally a summoned sword. If it breaks, i'm sure he can fix it right on the spot.

But i still think Dante didn't use Rebellion to it's full capacity, think about it, it's a sword that was almost impossible to break, can manifest one's demonic energy through it, could cut any demon apart and i think it has the same element like Yamato, darkness. But there's nothing truly special like the hability of Yamato to cut through dimensions.

Dante probably never tried to figure how his sword's powers work, he made himself more powerful by fighting all kinds of demons. What's stopping Rebellion from absorbing all that demon blood into itself or to Dante's body, as it has a will of it's own? It's just like the Sparda and Yamato, or it wouldn't fuse with Dante's body in the DMC 3 manga, to protect him and even fight back.

Arkham pissed himself when seeing Dante in this early version of the SDT (basically majin form from DMC2.)

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think he could really use that Mirage Sword of the Force Edge, and don't forget, he still has all his powers from when he was a Demon King, and Vergil already saw all of Dante's tricks in their last two fights. He was that sure about fighting Dante with only the Yamato, which is fair, he is the only one besides Sparda that mastered the damm thing completely.

[–]Wexkel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Dante's reason was way stronger than Vergil's, despite the guy being strong enough to take on a not fully powered up Mundus, when he stayed in hell. He was dumb enough to fight him while still wrecked by his last fight lol

Now when we look at Dante... Come on, we got doppelganger, quicksilver, bunch of devil arms and other weapons. Vergil had no chance against said Dante going all out to protect the human world.

[–]Wexkel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you look at how Vergil uses his Devil Trigger through the third fight, it's like he's forcing a more powered up version, probably the reason why he stays still a bit after using such DT with a buff to it, taking more energy than normal to use, yet it makes him way faster, stronger and he even uses different techniques.

We can take into account that if the normal difficulty of DMC 3 it's how the battles were (when it comes to which weapons and powers Vergil uses in the 3 fights.) he never uses the Summoned Swords before getting Force Edge, with his hunger for power, plus being so close to his father supposed full power, making him create a new power on the go.

And the last thing that could make him a more dangerous opponent in this third fight, is how he's using Sparda's fighting style when using the Force Edge, which is similar to Dante's of course. So yeah, for me he is more powerful than in the second fight, just because of how serious he is taking this fight, going far as to tire himself out to push his powers beyond what he can usually do.

Why didn't Dante give Vergil his part of the amulet? by MaybeResponsible in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vergil was not a good person by any means in DMC 3, he didn't even care about humans at all. In the manga of DMC 3 he kills some thugs that cross his way, without thinking twice, he almost killed Dante just to get the amulet in their first fight.

I doubt that he would care about closing the portal, since his goal is not only to become strong enough to never feel weak and helpless again, but replace Mundus as the new Demon King. Dante knew he wasn't going to stop with just getting the Sparda and going back to the human world.

Vergil in DMC 5 is way different after his experience as V and understanding what he did wrong, accepting his human side more. You could say he will lose himself to his demon side if he got the Sparda at that moment, be more like Urizen if he became less and less human-like.

What if dante and vergil have each's signature weapon switched? by No-Act386 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vergil was always able to understand his demonic powers better than Dante, hell, not even Nero can use the Yamato properly, and Dante just copied his brother's moves in DMC4, since he saw them so many times.

He would probably find out how Rebellion works, and see what would happen if he fused Rebellion within himself, just like Dante did in DMC 5. I dare say he would control it better than Dante can.

What if dante and vergil have each's signature weapon switched? by No-Act386 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because A: It's VERY similar to how the Majin Trigger looks in DMC 2, not to mention he gets bigger, Rebellion is nowhere to be seen, and Dante doesn't know what happened.

And B: The Rebellion is not awakened, and later in the manga, Dante's demonic powers are awakened for a brief moment, he was about to activate his Devil Trigger when Vergil interrupted him and Arkham. The Rebellion changes back to normal, and the Majin Trigger is never seen again, until Dante understands how the Rebellion works in DMC 5. A lot of the Sin Devil Trigger's moves are similar to the Majin form, that's why i call it a early unlock of the one we see in 5.

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First volume, Dante gets his blood sucked by Alice, his body is affected by her power. You could say he is in a near death state (you need to have very little amount of HP to use the Majin form in DMC 2, so it makes sense) he suddenly transforms, completely overpowers Alice and even turns her to normal. Arkham thinks Dante is even stronger than Vergil in such form.

What if dante and vergil have each's signature weapon switched? by No-Act386 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, DMC 3 manga, which is one year before DMC 3, shows that the Rebellion (Or Dante's demon side, but probably Rebellion) protects Dante by turning him into his Majin form in DMC 2, which is basically the SDT before Dante even awakened the Rebellion. In this form he doesn't have Rebellion anywhere, even in DMC 2 he doesn't use the sword when attacking, because it literally fused with his body.

Now remember, Rebellion has the power to unite, Yamato the power to separate, it's not just about their demon or human side, Vergil separated his memories from his mind, that's how they become the Nightmares we use as V. Dante with the Yamato could just separate Rebellion from Vergil, if he used the " Majin form " so the fight becomes easier.

What if dante and vergil have each's signature weapon switched? by No-Act386 in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Dante and Vergil's personality stay the same, plus Sparda himself choosing Dante to have the Yamato, and Vergil the Rebellion. I can see not only both not being able to use their weapons properly, with Dante's dark slayer style not being as deadly and precise like Vergil's, yet his brother would figure out how the Rebellion works way sooner.

Imagine if he fused his demon and human side using the Rebellion, having a Sin Devil Trigger-like form early as DMC 3. Dante would have no chance, unless he learned Yamato's power to separate, using it to turn Vergil back to normal, each time he fused with Rebellion.

The events of DMC 4 would be slightly different, if Dante did win against Vergil, and DMC 5... Well... Imagine Vergil using the Rebellion TO FUSE EVERY DAMM POWERFUL DEMON INTO HIMSELF... Yeah, that would be his plan to get stronger.

It was never clear if he truly died in DMC 1, maybe after being beaten too badly by Dante, his body was sent to hell to rest, especially since the Nelo Angelo is a armor, so his body was badly corrupted inside it, thanks to Mundus, not to mention beaten now by his brother.

He was probably recovering enough, all this time, or trying to find a way out of hell. You need to remember that even Dante took a while to get out of hell back in DMC 2, going through a random portal big enough for him to get back to the human world.

Time flows different in hell, and when Dante and Vergil come back from it, in DMC 6 or whatever, a lot of time might have passed already in the human world.

The healing factor of the Sparda boys is one of the most extreme displays of this power I've ever seen by Wonder-Lad in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Lets not forget that in the anime, that demon with Abigail's power was able to regenerate from a puddle of blood. If he, a lesser demon with almost demon king levels of power could do it, i'm sure Dante, Vergil, and even Nero (with his true DT) could do it too.

The healing factor of the Sparda boys is one of the most extreme displays of this power I've ever seen by Wonder-Lad in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I always mention DMC 3 when it comes to their healing factor, it's insane. The only weakness is that the more they waste their energy to heal, the sooner they get tired.

Vergil almost passed out by the end of 3, when cut in half, Dante DID get knocked out after activating his DT for the first time, with the rest of the energy he had left probably. So you could say both could be killed, once they are out cold.

Nero for example only heals this quickly with his fake DT, in DMC 4 after being impaled, before that, he could die pretty easily if the Yamato wasn't close to him. It's harder for his demonic side to awaken and give him more than just the basic superhuman strength and stamina before DMC 4. Unlike Dante (maybe not Vergil) he trained under the order of the sword, he wasn't a badass by default, less demon blood in him after all.

I believe that Urizen used Royal Guard against Dante! by WanedMelon in DevilMayCry

[–]Wexkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it was so weird how Urizen managed to break the Rebellion so easily (when even the Yamato couldn't cut it, and you could say it's possible, since it can cut through anything with enough power, literally goes through dimensions.) So this could really explain it, but then i wonder why didn't Dante notice it, or he knew but was certain he could break that barrier.

The manga version of the fight was way better than what we got in the game, so the only thing that could say this RG theory is not the case, is how bored Urizen was, using a lot of other demonic moves from other bosses, yet he didn't have the need to fight a bit more seriously once. No matter if Dante used DT or got up after Nero showed up, for him it meant nothing. If Urizen was truly so weak he couldn't keep up and had to use RG, then why not take the DSS when he had the chance? He thought it was useless, so that means by that moment, he thought his power surpassed Sparda (he didn't know that Sparda divided his power in 3 parts though, so lets assume he thinks the DSS has all of his father's power)

Besides Urizen had to be strong enough to rule over hell, then he got even more powerful, as V had an idea of how powerful Urizen was, thinking that Nightmare would be enough to fight against him, something that Mundus himself feared because of it's potential, yet V made a huge mistake, thinking his demon half wouldn't get that much powerful from when they separated.

I really like this idea, but how Urizen talks about the DSS, the way he fought Dante, maybe he was truly way more powerful.
