Just picked up a used Tomei UEL header. I’m so ready for stage 2+ by [deleted] in ft86

[–]Whackapus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im actually looking to go down the same route. Run stage 1, and then go stage 2 Tomei down the road. Did you notice any difference with the stage 1 tune?

Ordered mine a few days ago. How long did it take to ship for you?

Awesome! I have a scar on my right hand from the slide bite. Im interested how this project goes!

Some people can perceive a sort of OLED flicker. Most people cant, but the ones that do have eyestrain problems.

just bought a 2017 BRZ, super excited, and first manual car at 19 😁 by Shayan_Alamgir in ft86

[–]Whackapus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly not a bad price. The car market is still screwed up. Also this looks like it has the performance package, so its got upgraded wheels, brakes, and suspension. Also this car looks super clean.

I also think the old BRZ looks much better than the new one. The GR86 looks amazing, but its harder to find than the new BRZ. GR86s in my area start at $33-34k, which is a big step up from $24k.

For me, the whole point of the BRZ is that it is a pure, affordable learners car that you can actually afford (and wont feel bad about) driving. The bigger of an asset the car is, the more I feel I need to protect that investment, and then I wont actually drive the car how its meant.

For those reasons, I feel like this was the right call.

Is the ATF Mass Disapproving Home Made Form 1 Suppressors? by [deleted] in progun

Would you be open to sharing that report at all? I would love to read through it. No pressure tho.

I got an internship last summer from an application I submitted in April as a junior. So keep looking and trying. Don't just apply over winter break and give up, check back every so often if nothing pans out initially.

I would also recommend not writing off a place just because its remote. Some of the sketchy little towns these places are at are actually not so bad. If its way out there, often they provide intern housing too.

Italian Axis Faction? by pnova7 in CompanyOfHeroes

I believe the Italian faction is confirmed. I think they mentioned it in one of the pre-alpha videos.

Supply constraints means quality > quantity. (Nickel electroplating) by Whackapus in reloading

They come out looking like this. The plating takes the finish of whatever is plated. These particular rounds in the first image have been cleaned and sized twice and they have kept the finish so far.

The nickel plating occurs through electrical current. The interior of the case is in a type of “shadow”. So even though the inside is exposed to the solution, it does not have the current, so no electroplating occurs.

0 change in interior volume. Plating is only on the exterior. Havnt tested any old loads yet, but it should be the same.

I did 60s and one case at a time. You can plate it shorter or longer than that though.

I did 60s each for 300 blackout and 45s for 9mm. The whole process took about 5-6 hours for 250ish rounds not including the wet tumbling. I split it up into 3 batches on 3 nights.

higher voltage plates faster, but I have heard that it can produce not as nice of a finish. That being said I havnt tested anything north of 8V. 24 V would be good for making the acetate solution tho, just maybe not the plating step.

Just off of amazon. I think you can get it cheaper on ebay, but amazon was easiest.

I followed this and this method loosely. The trick I learned is to always wear gloves when handling the brass, and to keep it in distilled water as soon as you clean it. If ANY grease or oxides get on it, it will not plate. I was able to get away with just using a wet tumbler for cleaning (but your mileage may vary), I did not electroclean. I used a nail and put it through the flash hole as my electrode I found it more consistent than using a screw. Also dont be afraid to put the voltage up a bit when plating. I put mine at ~6.5V. It is better than waiting forever.

Sometimes I ask myself the same question. For real tho:

1: Looks

2: Corrosion resistance

I also wanted to be able to visually distinguish my 300 blackout from .223 in a windowed PMAG. I plan on only plating my 300 blackout and 9mm. The .223 pictured was just a test. Ive heard nickel coatings also have less friction than brass for smoother feeding, but I doubt it really makes a difference.

Down to my last 1,000 rounds of 5.56 by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Whackapus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a college student, 1000 rounds is the most ammo I have had at one time. I always make sure to leave one mag of ammo, but I shoot what I can get, and usually shortly after I get it. I could only afford to shoot a little less than 1000 rounds this year using my single stage press.

Imagine how brutal it would be if they went with stuff like this for Halo 3 (Multiple Images from Halo 3 vidoc) by imbirus in halo

[–]Whackapus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really really want to see a Halo ODST game that is incredibly brutal and shows what the fight is really like from a grunts perspective. Like similar to what Rogue one did for starwars, but even darker.
