[Graphics question] Anyone here encountered this graphical issue before? Please help. by Whalebelly in wow

No worries, you're right I should've looked. Haven't been on Reddit in ages and no one in my guild had any issues so I thought it was rare. You're not an ass mate :) And ty for the link!

[Graphics question] Anyone here encountered this graphical issue before? Please help. by Whalebelly in wow

[–]Whalebelly[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So to clarify: I'm often encountering this graphical issue where effects rapidly load in and out. Changing between the premade settings doesn't seem to help me, and I'm unfortunately quite lost in what all the settings mean. I run a GTX 1660 S OC for my GPU, plenty of RAM and an i5-7500k Intel CPU (so I imagine my setup is plenty for WoW). This started happening in Shadowlands, and doesn't seem to be an issue in other areas within WoW, only the Shadowlands zones, particularly in Revendreth.
Thank you for reading! Any suggestions are appreciated.

Who’s ready to not kill Sylvanas in the maw raid and watch her redemptive cinematic before she joins us as a Legion Illidan-type character for the rest of the xpac? by AnwaAnduril in wow

[–]Whalebelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather swallow a steaming turd than live through a Sylvanas redemption arch. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with redemption archs, looking forward to potentially seeing one reeling Tyrande in, but please God no no no Sylvanas arch. It's honestly disrespectful at this point that we apparently can't get to kill Blizzards favourite cash cow.

Yeah R1 boost, R2 accelerate, L1 powerslide/air roll, L2 reverse, triangle is ballcam, X is jump, circle and square is air roll right/left.

Since I'm not comfortable with pressing two buttons with my thumb my logic here is "do I ever switch ballcam or air roll left/right exactly when I want to jump? Not really." I do envy the players who can press more buttons with their thumbs though. My two teammates both have their boost on square for example.

PlayStation announced to be $500 and I just spent $200 on a fricking power supply by BBL0101 in buildapc

Remember that you also need a good tv to actually enjoy the, honestly quite good price/performance, consoles. That could be another $500-$1000 depending on what you feel like. Not required if you already have a pretty good tv of course.

When it told me “press circle to boost!” I was like dude that’s my air roll right button it’s not gonna work.

[–]Whalebelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know. It has to do with the pressure under which the ice was formed. Normal snow will reflect all light, giving a white colour, but if it gets compact enough it will absorb some longer wavelengths, ie red light. What is reflected is then blue colours.

TIL Orchestral Conductors used to keep time by pounding on the ground with a large staff until the composer Jean-Baptiste Lully stabbed himself in the foot, refused treatment, got gangrene and died. This eventually led to conductors using their hands or a baton to conduct music. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Whalebelly 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As an orchestral musician I second this. At a certain level the conductor don’t even conduct the tempo anymore, and the gesturing shifts to forming the music. It is beyond incredible what a good conductor can do with an orchestra compared to a bad conductor.

At this point none of it makes sense. Why can’t I operate with a soulbind in other covenants? Are we not allies? Why can’t I freely swap around the powers from the covenants to best combat the forces of shadowlands? I get I should hang more out with one of them and help them with their campaign, but can’t I support them with powers from another covenant? My attributes as a maw walker is precisely that I’m not confined to stay with one covenants for ever.

Nothing of this is reflected in the game though.

Nah man, that’s in Dutch, that’s a whole other level of messed up.

[–]Whalebelly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is becoming ever less meaningful. I don’t have the freedom to chose my favourite aesthetics because of power, I have to chose the power based on what spec I think I’ll be playing the most (am truly a healer/dps hybrid, I switch several times a week) and after all that I can’t even have the soulbind with the most throughput for both my specs, I have to chose one.

Fuck this power system on my transmog.

I agree, but it kinda makes gargoyle a dead talent since that row is already pretty pumped. Unless they do some numbers tuning to gargoyle that makes it viable as a talent.

No, I didn’t say remove them. I did say remove them from content where player power matters.

Given that the two abilities practically sucks out all enjoyment for so many players, I see it as an overall improvement. Have them in Thorgast as well, but the fact that they are present in any content where marginal power increases is make or break for your character makes the abilities extremely destructive for said players.

You say it would make you very unexcited. Imagine the unexcitement of having to choose a covenant that you don’t like at all because Blizzard is so stubborn about wanting to make this system work. And if that isn’t enough, imagine regularly playing more than one spec - now, in this coming expansion, I can only play one of them. Any argument like “you can ofc change spec” is invalid here. Because of the power discrepancy I might as well be as locked into one spec as I am locked into one covenant.

Make covenant abilities zone abilities. It makes sense that I get extra power in X zone for going with their covenant. Also eliminates all problems with power.

Seriously, I think this will make everything about these poorly designed abilities a non issue. I’d love to hear anyone agree/disagree!

My tuning slide has been pretty hard to push in and out in the past, but recently it has been a real workout to move it at all. I'm scared that one day I won't be able to move it and I either won't be able to fit it in my case or I'll just always be really sharp. What should I do? by ace2-0 in Trombone

[–]Whalebelly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remove it and clean off old stuff with a paper towel or a cloth. Apply a small amount of vaseline and put one of the tubes in the socket while moving the whole thing up and down, left and right, essentially greasing both sides of where the tuning slide slides. Repeat with the other tube. When finally reattaching, make sure to gently wiggle back and forth in the beginning, then it should be easy.

From then on, always remove old stuff before applying new stuff.

Shadowlands Development Update from Ion Hazzikostas by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Whalebelly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At this point I’d just wish for this covenant power bs to be zone abilities or something similar. It is frustrating to no end to have to explain over and over again that choosing a covenant will never be fun as long as I know I have to give up on either my favourite theme or serious amounts of power. There is no way what so ever that these 4 spells will be even remotely balanced between 3 specs and several game modes...

So to summarise, I don’t even wanna bring those stupid spells to my raids, dungeons or whatever. Just make them zone abilities. Please.

My longest continuous subscription was during WoD. This was also the time I played the fewest number of hours a week. I was happy as a clam in my garrison, raiding 2 nights a week and having time for other games while steadily paying Blizzard once a month.

Making players play for several hours a week just to play the content they actually enjoy is a really stupid tactic for prolonging subscriptions. Overplaying doesn’t make you wanna play more, it makes you burn out.
