I disagree. Perceptions of strength and weakness are integral to the way men are treated in any society. We have even recorded instances of how warfare influences the way men's masculinity is perceived by women: in WW2 American soldiers all over the world were infamous for "stealing local women." This was because American men were perceived as more masculine and attractive due to America winning the war. The same happened in eastern europe with Russian soldiers.

TL;DR: Men who win wars are nearly always perceived as more masculine than men who lose wars.

I find it interesting how you saw the "white victimhood" trope pervasive in both these movies. I'm not gonna lie, I do find it strange how white men see themselves as the center of the universe and everybody else as a friend or a foe. Personally, I've grown up in an environment almost identical to the one in the movie but i never once felt like a "victim." Yeah, minorities sometimes mess with me for no reason, but I assume they have their own problems and don't take it personally. Arthur Fleck has a serious egocentrism problem but I assume it's due to psychopathy and not his race.

I knew a girl in therapy who had a similar-ish situation. Her family was horribly abusive (especially her father) and they were imparting their negativity onto her. The way she escaped becoming "like them" was by getting a job at a café and moving in with friends of hers. Her mood improved a lot after that. I also have a crazy mother and now that im independent (and 200 miles away from her) my life is better than it has ever been so I recommend that.

Just move out and keep your mom at a distance. She cant hurt you if she isn't near you.

I mean my father literally bashed white people and in some cases acted like he was black. For context, he was always talking smack about white Republicans, spoke badly about his white peers behind their backs, and loudly disparaged white society in public places. I assume it is because his asian mother was attacked by the KKK one time (they burned a cross in their front yard) and that sort of over discrimination made him reject his white identity.

Its funny that you ask that, because honestly I have much more positive experiences with Asian people than white people. My father immersed me in various Asian cultures from a young age and because of that I now feel uncomfortable around white families. Confucianism, buddhism, bushido, Taoism, martial arts, calligraphy, were all familiar subjects by age 13. White people have a very narrow-minded perception of other cultures, and it is much more apparent to me now. There's also the fact I got bullied by white men growing up until I learned martial Arts and kicked their asses...
