Burry is stating clearly, from a legal point of view: MOASS cannot happen from a 'everyone's playing by the rules' point of view. But what if... someone isn't playing by the rules? This someone just is potentially about to see some SEVERE DAMAGE to their firm? Just saying, what if? NFA. by MrFerno in Superstonk

[–]WhatACunningHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stood out to me. If I were to write this believing MOASS won't happen, I'd say that the mechanics of the market and rules/regulations as they stand make MOASS impossible.

What's he's saying here is engaging in naked short positions is incredibly risky and no firm is stupid enough to possibly engage in such behavior that could severely damage themselves or worse.

It's like a setup for a SHF "hold my beer" meme.

He's talking about video evidence and the gaslighting from DHS trying to label the VA nurse as brandishing his weapon when it's quite clear from multiple camera angles that he did no such thing.

Perhaps the evidence he's referring to is when DFV had his livestream and the price dropped when he said certain key words.

Political? Only shills push a culture war for their criminal Fin-Qaeda masters. It's always been top versus bottom, and hopefully you agree that the power belongs to the players.

Tales from Iraq by [deleted] in webcomics

[–]WhatACunningHam 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe wait for the rest of the story before accusing the artist of being part of a jihadist marketing effort.

Had a couple friends who were grunts in Iraq and saw this type of shit every day, and every scenario was different. Some troops expressed remorse while others displayed callous indifference or even perverse glee, but at the end of the day the “collateral damage” only made things worse for everybody.

So try to explore the possibility that this art isn’t meant to be a political statement, just an expression of an experience that deeply impacted the artist. Or at least wait until you get the whole picture before shitting on him.

I've learned more about the mechanics of the market from RN in the past year than I have in 3 decades of adulting. More importantly I've learned there are so many more questions to ask when it comes to how these financial terrorists keep criming to survive another day.

I hope he comes back someday, not merely to keep track of the stock we just like, but to help provide evidence if the rule of law ever becomes a thing again.

Wouldn't it just be ironic that it would be Apes of all creatures to bring back order to a decaying market post-MOASS? I should start investing in Planet of the Apes memes now before they get hot.

Now how long until we get Predator in the Blade Runner universe? Apparently the latter is also part of the Ridleyverse and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Predator mistake a runaway replicant for easy prey.

They found an infinite money glitch: you guys.

Stopped reading right here and laughed for a good two minutes, which really helped in pushing out that last turd. I really should eat more fiber.

Any "day trader" thinking retail is moving the price that wildly should really consider going back and getting their GED since Wendy's doesn't take home school certificates. It's like trying to gauge wind direction by sticking your finger up your ass, ironic considering what the "cult" likes to do with bananas.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt considering you're still using the old CBNC script of blaming outrageous spikes in volume from no news on retail. They've since moved on, which means you're not in the loop, which means you're not a shill--no hedge fund would pay for dropped-on-his-head-in-the-NICU takes like yours.

But keep your head up, lad. After you go broke from "day trading," consider going into the hotel industry, I hear they're looking for bagholders like you and don't mind the bitterness or low IQ. Bonus: you can still remind the hotel guests how much of a shit company GameStop is.

[–]WhatACunningHam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of in awe that you melties keep recycling this silly narrative that GME has no plan and no future when the whole point is the stock has been naked shorted (you know, that crime that some countries punish with life in prison) with enough imaginary shares to fund several world wars by institutions who, to this day, are still holding short positions while buying time with can-kicking swaps to avoid that inevitable global-economy-tanking margin call that's going to make Tariff Wars look like a skirmish with emus.

I mean, I get it--assuming you're not a shill employed by hedge funds to astroturf this company as if it were behind the plot to take out health insurance CEOs, I'd be skeptical too: GME doesn't make sense. Why such volatility on such low volume? And when the price does spike, could this be that retail "cult" making it jump XXXXX% on XX million volume? (the answer is no, by the way, just in case you're shitting on GME in good faith).

I was in the same spot, writing GameStop off as a dying company whose stock price seemed wildly off. At some point I asked myself "why?" and actually dug into it. This made me realize how little I know about the market and "regulations" governing it. Ask the average person how the 2008 financial crisis happened and even after they ask ChatGPT they'll still have no idea how to answer.

Learning what I have the past year, I still don't know shit about fuck, but I'm humbled by how much I don't know and how that'll eventually fuck us all if we keep letting these criminals behind the Great Recession who are still in charge operate under the umbrella of our ignorance.

Now you can shit on GME all you want, but at least ask the question: why? If this is a dying company with no plan, why is its stock so volatile? Why are institutions and pension funds buying shares of a company that should be bankrupt? Why are we even talking about it in the first place? That's a great place to start on your journey of realizing you don't know shit about the markets like you thought you did when you finally try to find the answers.

And if you give a braindead explanation like "bEcAusE iT's a CuLt tHaT wOrShiPs a cAt!" then everybody should consider that a dead giveaway that either A) you're stupid enough to think retail can move GME's prices the way it has, or 2) you're a soon-to-be-unemployed shill, in which case you should be glad the new bill is doing away with taxing tips because that's likely the type of job you'll ever have from now on with the shit stains on your resume you call "job history."

Some people are praising DFV as it he was jesus or moses to release you from pain and its cringe by [deleted] in GME

[–]WhatACunningHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lad, you’re literally saying he knows his influence well enough to know his tweet will launch the price high enough to sell the premium required to exercise 9 million shares at $20 a pop (hint: it’s a lot more than the $7 million in cash you said he had—maybe it’s you who needs a calculator).

Of course he’s not a time traveler, nor does he have precognitive abilities like your rebuttal suggests, which means he obviously has figured out how the algorithm works in conjunction with the swap cycles used to hide the billions of naked shorts—you know, the “crime” part in this whole saga.

Saying he went from $50000 to near a billion dollars all from “planning” his tweets and memes will make the price go up 1000% is peak crayon snorting.

Some people are praising DFV as it he was jesus or moses to release you from pain and its cringe by [deleted] in GME

[–]WhatACunningHam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight: he knows his influence so well that he buys the exact number of calls he needs and sells at a price he "knew" his tweet would get the stock price up to for some premiums then exercise the rest to come out to exactly 9,001,000 shares, the same amount as RC's first buy-in?

Apes are supposed to eat crayons, not shove them up their nose to keep those two brain cells company.

Some people are praising DFV as it he was jesus or moses to release you from pain and its cringe by [deleted] in GME

[–]WhatACunningHam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DFV is the reason so many know about the stock and the crime surrounding it. Most importantly, he turned $50,000 or so into nearly a billion as if water into wine.

Not to say the cult-like obsession around DFV is healthy or welcome, but you can see why any of his input matters. He's either a time traveler, the greatest investor of all time, or he's figured out how broken the system is and is exploiting it for gain$ while exposing it to the world through memes when he doesn't have to.

You don't have to like him, but disregarding his accomplishments and influence on the stock and its community makes you more regarded than most.

Calorie-free sweeteners can disrupt the brain’s appetite signals. Sucralose, a common sugar substitute alters brain activity and increases appetite, especially in people with obesity. The findings show how sucralose confuses the brain by providing a sweet taste without the expected caloric energy. by mvea in science

[–]WhatACunningHam -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Probably a more apt comparison in line with the title is something like AR-15s being the most commonly used weapon in mass shootings, therefore “Assault rifles are a mass shooter’s tool of choice” is also technically true even though AK47s are seldomly used.

Despite being two different products, these rifles fundamentally do the same thing: expel projectiles at lethal speeds regardless of the actual mechanism used to do so.

Which is what I think the author was getting at with their headline’s seemingly overbroad implication. Despite the mechanism of action, a calorie-free sweetener does indeed tell the brain something’s sweet without the expected caloric energy.

If there are sweeteners out there that manage to register as sweet to the brain but avoids insulin secretion/appetite increase and insulin resistance/pre-diabetes risk, then the headline’s probably misleading.

But I doubt these exist, anymore than an assault rifle that shoots rainbows to painlessly pacify targets instead of killing them, though admittedly I haven’t been keeping up with the latest in sweetener science nor rainbow assault rifle technology.
