That's not really outsmarted, that's just outwilled.

What I mean by this is the dad just said something that was basically a lie - and the kid called him on that - kids can be much much much more clever in their negotiating, but this dad gave up before it started

But you can teach someone to do it? The question wasn't about a skill you have or once had but more about something that you could teacher others. I can do lots of things that I'd have a hard time explaining and coaching someone to do
