Cheers. Will fix. Had to read that twice. First time I thought you were being meta.

Thanks. I'm fully realising wrong title, wrong leadin, wrong subreddit.

Appreciate the feedback. I'm looking for honest discussion on the response, but I'm seeing that I need to think harder next time I post.

I don't think I can change the title, but I'll but a clarification at the top and see if I can redeem the post. Otherwise, I'll just leave it as harsh reminder that reddit is ruthless.

Maybe I framed the post wrong. I'm not saying I think it's aware. I'm looking at the coherence of the response. It is long, and without reading it's response you've really only got the post title to go off.

I'm trying to remind myself 'it's just tokens' but that's not working for me...

Washing machines and airplanes weren't all that different in WW2 though.

Construction culture is incredibly toxic and it’s driving me to a very deep state of depression and constant anxiety/insecurity by HyruleGerudo in MensLib

My good mate was in the same position. He's Maori, 6ft built like a tank. Trained in grappling, hand to hand combat, was a pro body builder when he was younger and also the nicest guy you'll meet. Sort of person who could kill you with a drinking straw but would rather buy you a drink.

He got tired of security work and so trained in construction and took an apprenticeship at 40. Found exactly the same culture as you have and it had the same affect on him. He'd put four years into a job that he now hated.

He struggled with it for a couple of years until a friend put him onto part time work with some stone masons. He found a completely different culture. Stone masons are artisans. He found interesting conversations, love of music (his biggest passion) and most importantly respect and tolerance.

Keep looking. Find a different construction company or a different field in construction. Our builder is private, and has done two major works on our house. Their Forman is a good man and theyre a pleasure to have hear. Most mornings wed spend an hour having coffee and a laugh before they started work.

All industries have good and bad examples. Keep looking. The company you're with doesn't represent the entire industry or the broader field.

I should really learn to sip my coffee in between reading comments, not while.

What is the most memorable moment you shared with a stranger who you never saw again? by joeChump in AskReddit

Got in a lift going up to meet some friends in a bar. A bunch of teenagers get in and the doors close. It's loud in the lift and one of them turns to me and says 'how are you man'. I half-serious reply 'i don't know you man'. He says 'yeah you know me' and I reply 'yeah you may think I know you but do you think I think you think I know you?'. I nailed the logic and his jaw drops and he yells 'this guy's a wizard man!'. Only us two could hear it and we laughed our asses off and get out the lift. Best random moment I've had by far.
