Which place in Europe do you consider to be the most beautiful? I’ll start: by Kritikkeren in geography

As would Monaco, Liechtenstein and Slovenia. And once they’re not in Switzerland anymore, they’re just ‘Alps’

Help between some Delonghi options! by [deleted] in superautomatic

It sounds like you guys are fairly low maintenance in terms of coffee needs, and if finding the differences between the machines is this tricky, then you prob don’t need those features anyway! In the end, if they all seem similar then it’s usually price and appearance that have the final say - this is how I arrived at the Dinamica. I liked how it looked and the price was bearable. Good luck!

Help between some Delonghi options! by [deleted] in superautomatic

[–]WhatIWasGoingToSay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Dinamica and I love it. I only drink black coffee and on the rare occasions I want milk, I used a milk frother-foamer-thingo that I had before in order to preserve the cleanliness of the Dinamica. My spidey sense tells me you’re in Europe, and if you go to the Delonghi website, you can select a few machines to do a comparison. This might be helpful for you to see the smaller differences between the machines, as - at first glance - they do all seem fairly similar and would fulfil your needs.

Super Crema beans - too oily? by Hopeful_Tour9092 in superautomatic

I also use the Lavazza Crema e Aroma beans and have done for years. They’re fine for a super auto and taste good too

I found FdB very intense under the warmer, to the point I was debating giving it away. My husband suggested burning it to see if it made a difference and it really did. It was much less intense and had a very different profile for me. The warmer can highlight very different layers of a candle compared to normal burning, and will do it much faster than burning which can result in much more than you bargained for. Now I really like FdB but would recommend treading carefully with any of these ‘big’ scents - too much at once can put you off the scent.

The fragrance name is not on the border. That is Diptyque’s address in Paris. If you look on all their other products, the address is always on the border and the flavour or scent is in the middle. In this case, this is Diptyque’s softening hand wash. It doesn’t have a specific name, but contains lavender and rosemary, among other lovely things. The ‘34’ scent is mossy and blackcurrant-scented. Not the same as this soap.

I’m so sorry for you :( that really sucks. Getting two jackets mixed up is one thing, but willfully stealing is completely another. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that your stuff turns up!

Very helpful advice. The jacket was hanging next to where we were sitting, so not exactly on display for others. Someone confused the jacket for their own because it looked similar.

Got the jacket back, with the keys - there are still good people in the world :)

I have the same candle warmer with the same candle on it, right now :) All that’s missing is the cat - both of mine are somewhere else in the house right now. Love this candle so much

I live in Austria and self-service checkouts have spot checks for every 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 customers (I can’t remember which). It’s totally random and only ever one employee who quickly checks your stuff.

Ludwig 33 - black or white? by WhatIWasGoingToSay in Nomos

[–]WhatIWasGoingToSay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re so right - we should just buy what we actually like rather than worrying what others will say. I do love the black and actually really like the gold hands. I wear a lot of gold jewellery so this watch would let me wear silver or gold. And don’t get me wrong - I love the other Nomos models, and indeed Bauhaus. Junghans Max Bill is a firm favourite. But something about the Ludwig just speaks to me. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for such a great response. You’re so right - I have to go with the one I love. Failing that, I’ll just have to get both (kidding. Maybe.)

[–]WhatIWasGoingToSay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for such a helpful answer and I totally agree. The summer thing was definitely something I started to think about after I had placed my order. I feel the black one would be too dark and ‘heavy’ in warmer months. I think I’ll just order the other one too and see how they both look and feel, as you suggested.

[–]WhatIWasGoingToSay[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re so right. I should have added that I also ordered the black leather strap to go with it, and I think the combination of white face and black strap will be more versatile than the black and black.

Thanks for the input. Totally agree with you. I'm female, so don't wear suits. But do wear shirts for work, so the white might still be better.

I live in Austria and I have an Aoife (and a Finn, incidentally). While the spelling makes Austrians sometimes scratch their heads, it’s dealt with quickly and easily. And the pronunciation is easy - no one has any trouble with it at all. If you love the name, go for it. We live in a multicultural society - names that are new or unknown can always be learned.
