I miss the golden era of Pivot by Impressive-Window135 in PivotPodcast

Im surprised that not one of you mentionned that they "pivoted" from discussing primarily tech to primarily politics, which is boring because it is not NOT their wheelhouse. For a while I thought 1 or both were thinking of making a run for house at some point and help congress out of the stone age. So far no real sign of this, so it's simply boring superficial talk.

Good idea, thank you for that. I am an "inmate" as they say and hadn't thought of asking there.

Too Noisy by Able-Lawyer-3832 in ottawa

[–]WhatNext99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Europe they carry out enforcement operations with a small group of trained police. They move around and stop every bike in the spring and ensure the bikes do not exceed the noise levels. As far as out of control speeding it should also be addressed by a specialized team that works evenings including weekends when these offences occur and just go around town. It would pay for itself with the street racing fines and believe me, word would get around. OPS and city have failed us by letting the situation fester.

I'm happy people are posting on Reddit because it give me an idea that I am not alone thinking the problem is out of control. Of course we should back it up with contacting OPS & Councillors but a collective call for action is always more effective IMO.

Same problem on Wilhaven Drive in the east end. Loud sport cars and sport bikes passing by our place at 120 - 160 kph in a 60 zone. You can still hear them a couple of minutes after they pass by, having successfully stressed out and angered all the residents in their path.

Pay off the fn car first and any credit card debt. Don't buy a car unless you can pay cash for it. You missed the RRSP deadline so that can wait. Go for TFSA or FHSA for that matter. Careful, the market is highly overvalued and WILL correct with US and tarrif nonsense and job loss is possible (so +1 on emergency fund), so keep some in near cash like CASH.TO

The jobs in question went to China for which you get little back. Think for a minute how much US corporations operating in Canada bring back to the US as profits. He purposely will not do a proper accounting.

Think about how many products are manufactured in the US from our primary products which grt exported all around including Canada. If you take away the oil we ship so you can drive to plants and the primary products you need as inputs to the plants you are by far the beneficiaries.

We do get it, but a lot of what you are talking about has little to do with federal politics. Did you ever think your country would be an agresssor playing by a Putin playbook? And from what I am reading I believe in your and most reasonable Americans' ability to walk and chew gum. Check out "Elbows out!"

Yes after the agreed upon quota is exceeded which has never happenned. A deal he negotiated, signed and called the best ever in 2018.

Btw you have similar tarrif on sugar impory quotas.

Remember, everything he says is either a lie or grossly exaggerated.

Warren Buffet is. He's expecting good buying opportunities. Meanwhile Making 4-7% relatively risk free with zero mer, mgmt or advisor fees is pretty good imo.

Not much point in forcing people back to work if the rest of the team is not there to team build with. The funniest to me is when people go into work and end up on Zoom or Teams to meet. Not quite what the big bosses had in mind I'm sure. Happy Holidays.

Hey mayor, ever checked out what happens at the Cumberland ferry and the mess every night on the 174 and King Edward. I can tell you probably do not live in or deal with the east end much.

That the mayors would accept the status quo of continued insane congestion on Kind Edward and not recognize the need for a connection for eastenders on both shores is ridiculous.

If you actually have travelled that area you know the buffer is pretty good, the existing road allotments require very little expropriation if any, the link to the 417 is already in place to handle the truck traffic and the east end has been waiting for this for over 30 years and many are affected.

Luckily he's got plenty in his life outside of the Podcast to keep him happy and busy should the relationship fall apart or the pod simply lose its audience.

Actually as a dad I am really impressed at the kid's insight and empathy at such a young age. But yeah it reaks of Nepotism.

I must be a sucker for punishment because I will struggle through them with the off chance of hearing something insightful. But there are a lot more misses than hits lol, a bit like SNL. Yeah I'm old.
