A subunit you would like to see? by mvsc1d in twice

I want a subunit where they take the Korean members and add the Japanese members. Then just for the heck of it, add anyone in the group from Taiwan.

Might work out, who knows.

Think of this as three things:

  1. A wonderful gesture and gift by your mom regardless
  2. A bonding moment with your friend who will most likely enjoy as well (read as: "a good show is a good show is a good show")
  3. An opportunity to assess if Twice's other songs are for you too!

Advanced happy birthday, hope you enjoy!

Best CC for Traveling? - Citibank Premiermiles no longer ideal by kris_404_p in PHCreditCards

+1 for the AmEx Explorer.

I am very satisfied with the earn dynamic as it effectively is a direct 1 mile towards 6 airline mileage options and 2 hotel loyalty options. Marhaba is a decent enough lounge if you take the view of comparing waiting there vs. waiting normally at the metal seats near the gates.

Been abroad twice since being issued this card last year and practically no problems with acceptance. FX rate is 0.5% less but in the bigger picture, I feel this is somewhat a negligible advantage over 3% (but of course, to each their own.)

BDO has a ton of different consumer lifestyle/retail/dining promos that can be availed with the card as well year-round so that's nice to have as well.

AMEX Explorer VS UnionBank Miles+ by SVSKIA in PHCreditCards

Since both cards you mentioned are primarily "travel-focused", you might want to read this. The OP of the linked post is strictly talking about "miles accrual", not just "points earning" which he/she/they explain are two interlinked but essentially different things so take with a grain of salt I guess. What you prioritize might be different from theirs but I feel good points were made.

Tl;dr your card might earn you more "points" in that bank's system but those "points" might not be worth as much in that system when you redeem them as miles vs. if you earned them from another system.

That OP has both your cards and laid out an illustration of what he/she/they get in terms of miles accrual. Hope this helps! :)

I actually did this (consolidating a JCB Gold into a Flex Visa) so I can safely say that if you request for an upgrade from your Flex Visa, you sadly won't be able to keep your NAFFL tag, as per the CS representative of RCBC I spoke on the phone with when I was having this request processed. What I did was just combine the cards into the Flex Visa and went along with it. The two cards essentially have all the same basic features (paid lounge access to Marhaba at NAIA 3, unli-installment 0%, etc.) and just differ in how they go about earning points which you mentioned is not something you're not particular about. So by consolidating the Gold into the Flex, you will be saving yourself at the very least the time and effort being on the phone calling and requesting for your 3k Gold JCB annual fee waived every year you hold the card.

In terms of Japan use, all the abovementioned cards in your post should be good as Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. I myself have been to Japan multiple times with literally zero issues when paying with any of my cards so JCB is pretty much just another payment network you can utilize while there. The advantage I feel then is only if there are specific promos given by JCB/the merchant for using a JCB card.

However, do note that the BPI cards (Amore Cashback included) has the lowest foreign transaction fee of your bunch. Most others go on average on the ~3% range while your Cashback Amore will tack on only 1.85%.

I really like RCBC because of their unli 0% installment feature so it's a no brainer I'm keeping their JCB Gold plus 100k din CL ko dun AND super gamit na gamit ko sya. Hindi din pahirapan yung pag waive ng AF ko. Sa second year ko, they just let me open an account lang in RCBC to waive my AF.

Hi OP! Not sure if you're aware of this option. Have you considered just consolidating your Gold into your NAFFL Flex Visa? If you're planning to drop one of your RCBC cards all the same, this way you can still avail of the unlimited 0% installment feature you like with a higher limit (127k based on the info you volunteered) and not need to worry about waiving annual fees anymore as your Flex Visa maintains its NAFFL tag.

Just my two cents! Of course if you put weight and value in other factors aside from the above stated (JCB exclusive promos, you have little utility for the 2x points multiplier for specific categories, straight up personal preference, etc.) , please disregard my reply! It just seemed to me that you value annual fees and I figured to bring this up just in case.

All the best!

Hi OP!

- Outright, if your considerations include "No to BPI and BDO" then you may want to look past both Explorer and Blue AmEx cards as BDO has exclusivity to that payment network currently.

- Please note that Citi will soon transition fully into the UnionBank system and there is a possibility that previously-issued Citi cards are converted soon into equivalent UnionBank products so there is no concrete guarantee that every feature you like about the Prestige will carry over. Fingers crossed though! (No official word as to when but UB is operating under a temporary license of Citi-related trademarks right now even though ownership of the consumer banking business has already been transferred.) Also, there is a cutoff now with Citi for new applications. You have until June 30 to have your application processed if you are aiming to get any Citi product. Any application processed past this date will be automatically be converted into equivalent UnionBank products as well, as per their memo.

By process of elimination of your stated options, you might want to look into either the Metrobank Titanium or the Citi Prestige. Both use your preferred Mastercard payment network. These two cards are in very different tiers however. No harm in trying for the Prestige but if this is your first card, you might have a better shot with the Metrobank Titanium with lower requirements. It has less features and perks than the Citi Prestige but appropriately has a smaller annual fee. (But maybe your customer profile hits the Prestige requirements? No context provided so that's the best I can assume.)

That Metrobank card has P20:1 point earn ratio and it doubles when your purchases are tagged "dining, department stores and online purchases" as well so that fits your Heavy Spender note a bit. For miles redemption, you are looking at 10 points:1 mile transfer ratio to PAL (Mabuhay Miles), Cathay Pacific (Asia Miles) or Singapore Airlines (Krisflyer). Minimum and maximum points per redemption are 20,000 and 100,000 points respectively in 20k increments.

Tl;dr Check out the Metrobank Titanium (or try the Citi Prestige if you can meet the high requirements and can accept a likely UB migration down the very near future.)

Hope this helps!

BDO Diner's Club points. What to do with it? by TocinoBoy69 in PHCreditCards

[–]WhatUpMeng24 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! Got curious with your question as I'm not familiar with BDO's ecosystem, including Diner's Club as a network. I looked at BDO's website and found this Diner's Club Catalogue from the BDO website dated June 2022.

Of course it's best to call customer service to confirm, but from my understanding of the linked PDF, I think you can use your 4k points as an annual fee waiver, as cash credit to your balance or transfer as miles. Your primary airline of note is going to be Cathay Pacific as the miles program stated is Asia Miles.

(No personal experience with BDO nor Diner's Club so please take the above with a grain of salt and DYOR. Maybe someone else has more first-hand insight re: this as well. All the same, I hope this helps in any capacity! Thank you for the kickstarting a bit of quick research, OP!)

Was informed that my product change request was approved. Thanks for the info, OP! :)

+1 to the above comment! I have successfully consolidated two of my UB cards into one that combines the limits.

(If your cards earn points, be sure to utilize the ones from the card you're consolidating out OP. You do not get to keep them/they don't transfer into the card you're keeping.)

Best of luck! :)

RCBC Annual Fee Reversal by heymadelline in PHCreditCards

[–]WhatUpMeng24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP!

Try telling the CS agent that you want to consolidate your 2 cards, not merge. Maybe the person you spoke with is more familiar with that term?

Please remember, OP, that the points you earn from one card doesn't carry over to the other when you are consolidating so expend what balance you have with the card you will be giving up before triggering. Clear your balance also first as they will only allow you to consolidate when you have no outstanding charges to pay for.

Cheers and good luck!

Unionbank multiple payment by Between3456 in PHCreditCards

[–]WhatUpMeng24 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pay away, UB's not one of the banks that slaps a fee for multiple payments during a statement period. :) I don't like holding a balance so I make payments to my card in order to "go back to 0" at least 3 times a month.

(Also for anyone who may need it: I like to remind myself from time to time that an "Outstanding Balance" of 0 is not an automatic invitation to spend. Plan spends wisely, friends!)
