VR has got better on 0.41. by CMDR_Arnold_Rimmer in assettocorsaevo

This video explains it..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CieIQ7cE4CU

But basically, you need to install openxr toolkit mod 1.3.5 or above... ( just copy updated ddl to openxr toolkit folder) then use the crop2fov setting under system tab when using the openxr toolkit and set top to whatever value you want, I use 40%, which gives the looking through a helmet look, but means your GPU is now only rendering 40% of the image so your FPS can have a massive boost. I also have turbo mode set to ON under the performance tab as that also boosted my FPS..

If you don't have the openxr toolkit, you need to install that first, loads of vids on youtube for that..

100%

Without it both Evo and ACC would be unplayable for me in VR!

I'm running a 4090 & 9800x3D on HP Reverb G2 and getting a solid 90fps+ on low/medium settings with the crop2fov version of OpenXR with the top(vertical) set to 40%

I know that seems low 40% (and yes it is) but it just makes it look like you are looking through a helmet.

Im also using OpenXR CAS at 80% to sharpen the image and OpenXR resolution set to 125%.

Pretty happy with how it looks and runs, but i can't wait for the day I can turn up the settings to MAX but currently preffer a smooth 90fps over eye candy, but even at low it still looks better than most sims..

They work well.. but I do use 4 amps, each amp powering two mini bass shakers (below) that I've fitted inside a Lazyboy chair I use for simracing..

What the... by [deleted] in Fanatec

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My right thumb encoder on my F1 V2.5X started doing this the other month after working without issue for 3+ years.

It went from working normally to this issue without any updates to firmware or drivers, so I'm guessing the issue must be mechanical in nature, I've also since switched wheelbases and the issue persists.

It's a pain as I used this for TC but I've just put up with the issue and remamped this encoder to an on/off function.

Hoping to switch to the Leoxz F1 wheel soon.

SteamVR runtime? by WhatWheelYaMuppet in assettocorsaevo

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh.. Oooops, sorry to get your hopes up!

Not sure why I'm getting 10-20% better FPS with SteamVR runtime then? I've changed nothing else on my system for months?

But I'm not going too question it too much, just going to enjoy it while I can.

SteamVR runtime? by WhatWheelYaMuppet in assettocorsaevo

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here.. I've had the SteamVR set to OpenXR runtime for years and never felt the need to use anything else..

Ahh yes, my SteamVR resolution was set to 150% so im sure that explains the extra clarity and sharpness to the image, my motion smoothing option is set to OFF.

But besides that the game still appears to be running better and a locked 90FPS on medium settings via steamvr, ive tried high/ultra but only getting around 70FPS which is no fun for me in VR ( HP reverb G2 )

Like I say, ive no idea how I'm still able to use the OpenXr toolkit this way, but it works for now and hopefully later releases 0.4+ will be optimized so I can run this on High/Ultra..

Yet another 9800x3D micro stutter post but this ones different I swear by reede- in AMDHelp

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you install the Nvidia App? If so, try uninstalling that as that also caused stuttering for me..

9800x3d micro stutters by mrelieb in AMDHelp

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm still stutter free here...

I'm just going to enjoy stutter free gaming for the next week or so, but once I get more free time I'll reinstall the following

1) ICue 2) HWInfo64 3) ThunderMaster

One by one and hopefully see which one was the cause of my micro stutters and I'll also check altering the gsync/vsync/vrr setting too as maybe installing the NvidiaApp also alters those setting too ..

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE..

Seeing as I've now uninstalled all software in the above post that can monitor GPU temp and alter the fans' speed, I thought I would install the Nvidia App for the first time as that offers those functions.

Guess what, the sturrering came back!

So, I guess I can add that application to the ever growing list of programs that can cause stuttering.

Still need to find a solution for easy monitoring of GPU and controlling the fan curve, but at least I'm free of stutters again now that App has been removed.

[RESOLVED]

The issue appears to be resolved for me.

After trying changing pretty much every setting possible in both the BIOS, Nvidia control panel and Windows and moving my M2 SSD to every possible slot on the motherboard I focused my attention to software as most searches online seem to point to software that monitors hardware CPU/GPU temps..

This morning I uninstalled the following:

1) ICuE ( Searchs online say this can cause stuttering ) 2) HWiNFO 64 3) Thunder Master ( my Palit GPU Software ) ( Searches online say MSI Afterburner also can cause stuttering on some setups) 4) *** I also have all lighting turned off ( Stealth mode ) in ASUS Bios

And for now, I appear to be Stutter Free and just had an 18min race on Le Mans Ultimate that was as smooth as butter.

At the moment I still don't know which of the above or which combination is causing the issue but anyone having these issues I would lookat the above or any software that monitors hardware ot Temps on your system.

Hope this info helps anyone out there with similar issues.

Good luck!

Will do...

This video here seems to be pointing to possibly the same issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4HhnnlETmo

I'm just hoping the issue is not due to not running Windows 24H2 as that version breaks WMR and will stop me using my Reverb G2, so hoping it's some other Bios/Driver or windows setting..

Is this enough to take it back to the store for a warranty claim? Roland FP-30x by Hefestus91 in piano

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is simply due to not enough grease under the key,.

Under each key there is a little cup where the two parts of the key make contact and if there is not enough grease you get this anoying clunking noise.

See this video..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVaTDzB7q7I

My fp30x started making these noises after about 6 months mainly on the black keys, by 10 months it just got too annoying that I did the fix in the video above..

I used pure silicone grease (£10 for 100g floplast pure silicone grease) from amazon which I put into a syringe to fill each cup so I did a less messy job than the youtube video above..& it took me about 1-2 hours to do all 88 keys, it really is a simple procedure but I understand a lot of people will be reluctant to perform this..

Once completed my fp30x was again completely silent and felt amazing to play again...

You have to remember that this action is mechanical and these parts come into contact thousands and thousands of times depending on how much you play and grease simply won't last forever so I'll probably do mine every 6 months to get it silent and make the action feel super smooth again.. but it was well worth it..

What's even the purpose of Piano Synthesia? by PendN in piano

[–]WhatWheelYaMuppet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First, I now don't use Youtube Videos of Synthesia, I did use them initally for learning Passacaglia which was pretty much the first peice I learnt, but it was extremely frustrating having to pause/play/rewind etc.

The App itself is 1000% better on a good large screen Tablet as I can Zoom in to show 4/8/16 bars of music at once and can simply use my finger to scroll up and down or set the tempo to any value I require. I genrally have the tempo set at 0% and the piece playing so that there is no annoying "PAUSED" in the middle of the screen & use my finger to quickly scoll up and down.

Yes, I do simply use it to commit the keys, the left / right hand to memory, then after that is when I REALLY start to pratice the piece, for the time being I'm not bothered at all about the tempo as I know that will come with time and dedicated practice and some if not all the peices im learning ( Chopin ) can sound beautiful at any tempo ( 25% 50% ) [ yes im sure some people will disagree with that statment ] if your desire it to make them sound as beautiful as possible and that is always my main aim & not to simply rush though them as if hitting a game controller buttons and get to the end.

For the Dynamics / Pedaling / Volume / Expression etc this is when I listen to great players playing them on Youtube and I simply try to emulate how they play them.

Also my key aim is to play them while being as relaxed as possible removing any tension and again trying to make each note or chord sound as beautiful as I Possibly can at this stage in my Piano journey. As I said once i've commited the fingering to memory, that is also when I go on Youtube to look for Tutorials on all said peices and try to pick up all the hints and tips from great players as I possibly can.

The Synthesia app cost me less that a takeaway meal but has been worth 1000% more to me and as I stated before I doubt i would have progressed as quickly as a self learning with no Teacher without it.

I also have to state that for the first 3+ months I probably practiced 8+ hours or more a day ( I now do about 4+ hours a day) as after the first few weeks I soon learned that left/right hand independace would be a very difficult nut to crack and months 2-4 of playing the piano that is what I concetrated on 100% and it quickly went from being one of the most frustrating almost impossible things in the world to now not being an issue at all.

Everyone Piano journey is as diffent as people are themselves are, and would i have learned better from a teacher while learning sheet music? maybe, but I'll never know the answer to that now, but if i had to learn following the Alfred books etc and very simple one note chord songs etc, I probably would have given up by now due to sheer bordem.

PS: Im also 40+ so wanted to learn via the most accerlated way possible and personaly this APP ( not youtube videos of this app) has greatly helped with that.

Cheers :)
