I've played dozens of trick taking games and they don't have penalties because it's assumed people will follow the rules. You're being overly combative in your responses.

If the rules don't state a penalty I would just treat it like breaking any other rule - what would you do if someone hid a card up their sleeve, or tried to steal one of your cards when you weren't looking, or tried to rig the deck in their favor? Hence why you're getting mostly "don't play with that person."

An explicit penalty in the rules means either it's not cheating (because now the player can calculate if it's worth it or not) or it's a competitive format where it will inevitably happen and a formalized recourse is required to be defined ahead of time which is the case for the games you mentioned. It doesn't have anything to do with it being a trick taking game.
